5v5 is all good and well, but 6-8 are the numbers really required to fulfil the purpose of crews.

Every region has 3-4 or even 5 decent players, but crews is about illustrating the OVERALL ability of your region, not just the top few.

Although given the size of our scene, scaling back to 5 is probably about the best option unless interstate attendance is super high.

So...we might be doing crews for our individual scenes rather than everyone vs VIC? :bee:

That will be up to the general consensus. Speaking from experience it feels a hollow victory when you win as part of a 'the rest' team, and you don't care if you lose, it just sort of happens for the sake of it. The only crew with any real feeling of representing something is the united region, and again the only real point of a crew battle is to determine which region is the strongest. Traditionally crew battles were established for that reason alone, showcasing the strength of an individual region as a whole, compared to the individual talents of a handful from a certain area.

The original East Coast v West Coast crew battle came because EC wanted to prove it was better overall than WC, even though Ken and Isai were winning all the big tournaments. I think in recent years we do crews just because we can, with nothing to prove and nothing riding on the outcome.

That said, if it's something people still enjoy and want to do as a Vic vs the rest then I take no issue with that. I'm just trying to address the issue of exactly WHY people want to do it if it isn't in a regional format.

True true

So there are 4(5 technically cuz ACT) states overall attending this? 4 crews of 5 people?

Greater New South Wales
Queensland
Southern Australia
Victoria

Melbourne is pretty dominant, and larger crews are just going to make this dominance more apparent.

I like the idea of 5v5 Vic vc nsw, or 8v8 Victoria vs the rest.

Hmm, Ted/Shaya/Zxv/Scott/Tin vs. Tibs/Attila/Ledge/Sebby/Splice? I would not be confident /provemewrong
Is there enough oos Melée attendance for Melée crews?

Remains to be seen. I'd play for OOS or NSW and I'm guessing Syke, maybe Scrubs, Ted, zxv, smoking puppy and a couple of others could make up the numbers. Maybe cao will convince pat and kulla to come.

I mean, before I booked my flights, I wanted to go to whobo, because whobo will definitely be the best brawl tournament of the entire year across the world.
But

Dang.

So sorry, it has been a while guys.

To update, being winter, work has nothing for me right now so i'm trying to pick up everything I can to be able to come but unless I can find something soon I may be stuck in the water a little bit. Not saying I can't come yet, just saying my position isn't nearly as stable as it once seemed to be. I'll see what I can do, I wanna see you guys again. =(

And if we do crews again i'd love to be the bad outlier (:D) on the NSW team if anyone's willing to have me. I dunno, I felt pretty good about last time (Sour-spotted Ness Dairs FTW!!! Not joking <3) so I uhh, erm, well.... *bolts*

Also Jamwa I tried your Lucas technique but nothing happened. Maybe i'm just no good at it or something? :(

You gotta let go of the tether around less than half a second after you hear the tether snap onto the ledge, it works i assure you.

You definitely deserve a spot in crews imo, hope you can make it. I think everyone underestimated you at BAM :)

Is anyone here willing to provide housing? After a recent meet with the ACT players (just yesterday night actually), there were a few more people who are interested in going. I think that if some housing can be secured, I could potentially convince several ACT/NSW players to come . Ideally if this could be done quickly then that would be great since I would like to get things more/less planned out myself within the next week since travel prices increase over time lol.

jei? splice? dean?

i could house more people, but i wouldnt have enough room in my car to taxi them to the venue. if anyone would be willing to offer assistance in this manner, i'd be able to take more people.
