So today i went Sonic and tried to play completely different.
I failed horribly, and i'm still not getting what's gone massively wrong with my gameplay.
I calmed with ASC and SD only using them occasionally, and i'm taking up approaching with Bair, Uair, and Fair.
Before this, i'd go nuts with B moves and aerials, and nothing was wrong.
Now that i've been told that's the wrong way, i fail harder when i try to do it right.
What am i missing?
By 'approaching' with B-air/F-air/U-air, you mean you're moving towards them aiming to hit with them?
Honestly, Sonic's aerials are all super punishable and/or low-priority, so his attacks work better if you use them
to punish. Otherwise, using them as actual approaches are all gambles with countermovements (ex: B-air can be shieldgrabbed by quite a few characters if you don't space perfectly, or you can get hit before it comes out. F-air can be outprioritized if you use it before you get inside someone, etc).
Also, if you're playing wifi, B-moves are extra safe (shield cancels get you better rewards, SDR are too easy to hit with), and to use A-moves means you have to correctly guess what your opponent is gonna do.
This.
I went to a tournament and in the last match I played in-bracket all of my deaths were suicides.
what do you mean "this" lol
he's talking about different playstyle and you're SDing.
Stop killing yourself? XD
jk, if you mean you're trying to avoid SD use and be all "i am pro i use Amoves only", that's sort of the wrong approach. Don't discard movements. If we had a better character, sticking with just "the good moves" would work (ex, Marth space with F/N-air/D-tilt, all that), but as Sonic, we have run speed and feints on our side. That's about it, so you'll have to make use of everything XD
Congrats Espy! :O
Also, NMH2 was fun, well not when I got punched through the window for the 5th time, but yeah. And I felt it was over too soon :/
And the MLG event, is there a live stream for it?
:O
gs Espy.
