No, you shouldn't be pivot grabbing as much as you fsmash. Fsmash is much more important in the marth matchup than pivot grabbing is. Also challenge marth with fairs. It's not that hard to out-fair a marth.

I agree with fsmash being important. And Pivot grab is great when the Marth gets impatient and wants to land with fair near you. Rich's comment about uair, sometimes that can be substituted by usmash, depends on spacing and stuff. You can get kills that way.

The big problem of the matchup is getting edgeguard. For me, when Marth gets me offstage I just automatically die. Even against MK I can usually make it back, but not against Marth. I have no idea how to survive against him in that respect.

I use to die every time but what you can do is right before you think they will strike you and your somewhat near the ledge, whistle reversal away form the stage. Then as your falling move underneath the ledge and use Uair with your second jump to hit him or scare him off the ledge and recover. it works :bigthumbu

well actually what it does is if they tried to edge guard you, you can use your Uair hitbox and priority to get them off and recover. and if they predict your going to reversal and don't grab the edge then just tether back to the stage when appropriate.

I can't count how many times I've caught people returning to the ground who didn't expect it to have so much vertical range. If I'm not mistaken, it extends past the tip of the pikmin, right? Even if it doesn't, it goes all the way up to their leaves/buds/flowers, and that's great.

And it's so quick too! I've literally heard people say "Wait, what just happened?"

Well the red ones make you think you can breath fire (you can't, but you're definitely going to need counseling after you've seen yourself "burn" down your house)

The blue ones let you breath underwater. Like gillyweed.

after much experimentation, olimar has found that, smoking pikmin's FULLY GROWN, CRUSHED UP FLOWERS, not the pikmin themselves, alter brain chemistry in various ways.

so far he has found this information:

red pikmin flowers, when smoked, begin to numb the body. very effective for numbing pain. this explains why red pikmin are immune to fire. when taken in large doses feelings of euphoria and extreme relaxation overcome the body. local anesthetic/opioid. fatal on overdose.


yellow pikmin flowers acts as a stimulant to the central nervous system. speeding up thoughts, movements, and reactions. stimulant/amphetamine. highly addictive, requires very small doses, otherwise overdose may easily occur.


blue pikmin flowers are the least harmful of all of the (known) pikmin flowers. however, these flowers have arguably the most medical value. blue flowers can ease flu symptoms such as fever, runny nose, but most evidently, sore throat and coughing. when taken in extremely high doses, some mild hallucination may occur. dissociative.


white pikmin flowers are the most interesting, and olimars personal favorite. these strange flowers cause complex psychedelic experiences. smoking only 2 flowers will cause strong hallucinations anywhere from 4-8 hours. this is most likely due to the poisonous nature of the white pikmin, which affect the brain in a unique way. even more interesting, is the fact that these flowers are very hard to fatally overdose on. one would think with how much damage a white pikmin can inflict, its flowers would be highly toxic. not so. psychedelic/deliriant.


purple pikmin flowers have an interesting property to them - if left in water in the sun for a few days, the flowers "ferment" and bind with the water molecules. this is impossible with the rest of the known flowers. this creates two totally different ways to ingest the purple flower. although both have the same effects, drinking the flowers extends the effects for a longer time period. the purple pikmin flower cause relaxation, reduces concentration, and lowers sexual inhibitions. very similar to alcohol. depressant for sure. fatal overdose very possible.
