ugh...

they didnt let us play friendlies because "there was time to warm up from 8-10am"

i didnt play a single match all day and then went immediatly into a round 2 winners set (first round bye seeding) against ****in' seibrik

first game he beat me pretty legit, was trying to use this match to warm up regardless of who won

second game, i picked green greens and within the first 5 seconds of the game i missed the whistle on an up b that killed me at 0% (****ING MLG LAGGY TV BS). from then on getting all purples and spiking him once wasn't enough to out-do his d-air \ ledge camp strats from a stock above (not to mention worst counterpick vs seibrik ever)

in losers i got a bye and beat a few ppl, eventually losing to snipa (fl's ic). all week id been practicing the matchup against lain, going even for the most part, but still got 3 stocked by snipa. had a close second game mk vs ic (5 jumps > 2 jumps) but lost.

after the bracket advanced far enough they stopped all friendlies. literally turned off all the tvs, lol.

Notable friendlies from the tournie that got me a **** ton better : beating dekar in a set, beating DSF in a game of a money match and having him say "yeah richbrown doesnt beat me you're good", beating san's ike (that thing is a BEAST. impossible to beat without severe camping) ,

i definitely learned some of fino's tricks and applied them to my game. I saw him do the same, too ;) (fair all day baby)

watching m2k do mk ditto's for 4 hours straight teaches you many many things about the game that transcend character specifics

MLG was very fun, and a very good tourney experience for me. It really compels me to go to more nationals out there and travel. I want to leave OoS.

I'm for sure going to Columbus

Yeah, I've beaten DSF once ever, he's beaten me like 15 times =(

Him saying that is motivation for me to get better though lol

I almost got him last time we played

Anyways... I'm super motivated to get amazingly good. Like M2K-Ally-ADHD status (I wonder if they'll name search and come in here, Ally and ADHD you guys know I'd **** you cuz you don't know **** about Olimar LOL). But yeah I'm working on just making my movements as quick and sharp as they can be, I tend to be a little loose sometimes when I play. And for some reason, I **** up pivot grabs almost half the time now... seriously, I roll a lot whenever I attempt a pivot grab. It's really annoying and is probably why I actually don't pivot grab as often, I'm such a noob. I'll go to training mode later and work on that.

Share with me your secrets on how to be good :D Fearless you should hit me up on AIM sometime, RichBrPWN, I wanna learn how you use Fair, it's an amazing move but I don't use it as often as I should :o

So I'm getting a new wii. That means I can finally get my practice in. I cannot believe Olimar is so amazing that I play Brawl because of him. xD

Alright, so I've seen a couple ppl saying that Olimar (and maybe other chars, but cares - get it? haha) is the reason they play Brawl, and I was actually talking about this with one of my friends the other day. He's extremely good at Brawl and he's actually the reason I don't suck [as much] anymore :) However, he's a big Falcon guy, and lately he's been saying that he really wants to switch to Melee, mostly since combos existed back then. I agreed that being able to combo is awesome, and I kind of would like to pick up Melee myself (when I had the game, I wasn't a real player) to get in on the action, but I could never give up Brawl because I love Oli too much <3

I mean how cool is it that you have little things do EVERYTHING for you? ICs may have 2 players, but I've got 7!

I've always loved brawl for some reason. Not just because of Olimar though. If he wasn't in this game, I would still play it.

Even when all the gay stuff comes in, for me it makes it more fun.

I love smash because it's a creative fighter that's competitive. it's like a Mario side scroller with platforms n **** where you can fall to your doom, but a great fighter with all your favorite Nintendo characters. plus everything about it is so unique and technical. Brawl shows me something new everyday, stuff like seeing how you can approach EVERY situation differently.

Of all the characters in the game my favorite are Luigi and Ness. They both aren't that good though.

I'm with Fearless on the Ivy bit. Ivy is awesome.

I don't see Ivy as good XD maybe it's the way i play against them but i've only seen tough squirtles and charzards. gimping Ivy is exactly 2 times easier than gimping olimar lol

Interesting, INTERESTING INDEED. I considered myself up to date on all the Brawl hacks but I haven't even heard of this one. I'm still afraid of bricking my Wii someday, but I might take a chance on this eventually.

I'm 100% with you on this. What I love abt Brawl (and every Smash) is the fact that it's the only platform fighting game. (FPSs don't count.) This adds so much more depth to the game over your Street Fighter or Guilty Gear etc. Plus without platforms, Oli's Uair wouldn't exist :o

Please don't ever say Brawl has more depth than SF and GG to a SF GG pro. They WILL destroy your argument. Honestly, Brawl isn't really that deep, I mean it IS deep it's just, nevermind this stuff never comes out well, lets just say every other fighter I've ever played (3S, SFIV, ST, GG, BB, T6, SC, SSBM, SSB, MvC2, CvS2 etc.) all seem to have more techniques and depth all around. I mean, if Melee was never successful do you REALLY(answer this truthfully) think that brawl would be competitive. Seriously.

Maybe I stepped out of bounds :o Basically what I meant is that I like Smash (any of them) because at the end of the day it just becomes a mindgames competition, moreso than other games I feel. Maybe not all fighters, because I probably haven't played enough of them to know, but there are still plenty of options.

Yeah, that's another reason why I play this game. It is more unique than most games.

I'm researching a debate topic for school. The topic is: Is marriage an outdated institution?

There's a lot of stuff online about it. Mostly it comes down to the fact that these days couples do not need a legal confirmation for their relationship. At the same time marriage can come with certain legal benefits and people argue about their positive effect on child development.

Hey, I'm not bashing brawl, I just want to know your opinions. :D
Lol yea, but at the same time I don't want to sound like know-it-all when I know-I-don't. One of the main reasons I say Brawl (and all of the Smash series) take things to another level is because they step outside of the traditional "two fighters face towards the center" dynamic. Street fighter, Guilty Gear, Mortal Kombat, Soul Caliber, and as far as I know most (if not all) have the two players depicted with one on the right, one on the left, and they clash in the middle. The characters also can generally only face each other, at least by their own command and not some extinuating circumstance. Smash does away with this in that you can run away from your opponent, use Bairs and the like, actively take the fight to a better position (ex. the combo tent on SSB Hyrule, or just edges in general), and these are just a couple examples
