Naw, I can understand that your parents wouldn't want you to go. If only we could somehow hangout.

Registration ends as soon as singles begins. It's a house tourney btw.

Olimar

I still think that ON THE STAGE Olimar is the best character in the
game. Yes, the BEST CHARACTER IN THE GAME. I think that Olimar has
nowhere to go but up up and then up some more. Everyone knows that he's
good, and everyone knows his one glaring weakness. Olimar has range,
power, speed, combo ability, ridiculous grabs, and is difficult to
approach. His recovery is his main drawback, and it is shared by anyone
who has a tether only recovery. I can't wait for the day that an
amazing Olimar main breaks out of nowhere and wins something big. Yes,
I understand that there are currently very good Olimar players, but
there is nobody like the person I'm describing. I think that Olimar is
sort of the "jigglypuff" of Brawl. Meaning that as the game progresses
he will constantly improve until one day there will be a couple premier
Olimar players who wreck almost everybody. Olimar has way to much on
stage potential, and I can't wait to see what happens with him. So,
Olimar mains, show me what I know is the case, and go place at a major.

This may be of interest? Gimpyfish's thought on Olimar, from AiB... Pretty interesting st00f, he analyzes every character pretty **** accurately.

I gotta test it out first, I'll sound really dumb if it doesn't work @_@ going to a tournament tomorrow I'll try it out.

The one that's really simple (and not really a tricksy) is, well, can you use dtilt to punish mk after a tornado? Grabbing after it doesn't work, he can spotdodge quite a bit before grab comes out, or dtilt, or jump or whatever. You can't usmash him, or fair him, or fsmash. But dtilt comes out incredibly fast and should hit him while he's still in his lag and unable to spotdodge. You all probably already do that though so yeah XD

The other thing is kind of like whistling out of it. I was caught in tornado and I was mashing up and random buttons constantly, and pikmin chain came out and the hitbox (part of it covers olimar) hit mk out of the tornado. I tried it again, in the same game, smash DI'ing up while mashing B, and got it to work again, but I haven't had the chance to test it out since then. I think, like whistling, it would only work if the mk is tornadoing in a certain way but I'm going to see what I can figure out.

But yeah, nothing special XD

I know this may seem random, but has anyone heard of a brawler called Urban Ninja? If so, what do you think of him?

Hilt, that second one sounds interesting, and that could feasibly work since olimar is just falling since he wouldn't have any momentum alteration. That'd be really amazing if that worked...

Good stuff guys, I've been learning some good things here lately =)

I was always under the impression that Olimar's main drawback was his lack of priority. 0_o
Perhaps I'm just crazy.

Alright, well I'm borrowing my friend's wii so I'll be able to get frame data testing this week. I'll be doing a few things and I'm going to make the thread much more thorough and detailed than the last one.

Few things I'm going to test, tell me if there's anything I missed:
When the hitbox begins
When the hitbox ends
When Olimar comes out of lag
Hitstun
Shield Stun
Super Armor/Invincibility begins
Super Armor/Invincibility ends

Is there anything else that I missed?

Throw duration is included among the lag or hitbox ones, correct?

EDIT: By the way, I've been thinking about a few things.
1. Has Olimar's Dsmash been tested and proven to random? (I hope that made sense)
2. Does each part of the boat on RC have the same pluck percentage or was that not tested?

1) What do you mean. If you mean what I think you mean, yeah day, you're right.
2) Yeah it's all 23/15

Oh, hah... Pardon my terrible phrasing.
I meant, does the first pikmin always come out of a specific side?

EDIT: Allow me to further clarify with *STORY TIME*. A long time ago, I was fighting someone with only one pikmin. I ended up killing him with an epic purple Dsmash and he said I took a huge chance with that Dsmash, that it could have come out the other side. I was wondering if that really was random.

EDIT EDIT: This also belongs more in the Q&A thread.

If you have only one pikmin it'll go to the left of Oli, all the time. I think anyway.

I did badly yesterday. Blegh

It's actually how you are facing that determines where the Pikmin go. As in, if you are facing with Oli's back towards you the first Pikmin will go left and if you are facing with Oli's front towards you the Pikmin goes right. Same if you have two Pikmin. The first Pikmin will go left if facing with back while the second Pikmin goes right and vice-versa.

If you didn't know the mechanics behind it, then you did take a huge risk using that move since in your mind anything could've happened >_>

Hilt, don't forget to put when the sweetspot in dsmash is, and how long the sweetspot is. (sweetspot is where both pikmin hit and does like 20 damage)

I always thought it was the electricity from a yellow pikmin hitting them and them being stunned long enough for the other pikmin to hit them as well, but I was never sure.

But yeah, I do need to test different sweet and sour spots.

Yeah but only at a certain time of the tornado. I'm not sure what frames it works on or if you have to charge the fsmash or tornado in a certain way.

(might test that out too >_>)

Haha I decided that I'd try to make a run at the ladder, maybe win like 20 games in a row and sneak into playoffs, and tinman was there so we decided to play :p

I'm extremely average on wifi =(

Any Fsmash goes through the top of the nado, too (obviously Purples are less effective) =o
lolsituational

And I've never had a yellow Fsmash fail at breaking apart a tornado before. Not that it means much; I probably play a lot less MKs than the rest of you

I've actually sweetspitted a dsmash with two purple pikmin. It was right at the ledge and killed like at fifty or sixty.

I'm even worse on wifi. :/

As far as I'm concerned, Yes

And by that I mean exactly as I said in my last post, which was that it's never failed me.

But I have a shoddy memory and I could be completely wrong

I'm pretty sure the d smash sweetspots if they are in the middle of olmar and both pikmin's hitboxes hit them.
