Shoutouts to Luke/Ted you guys as always fun to be around, Saturday night would of sucked without you guys. Gords for finding new ways to fail even while being successful. I'm sorry that my partner apparently nodded everytime I hit you if it upset you so much? It was actually everytime I landed a grab because I was spamming my smashes too much :]
Not going to lie, I underestimated you based on our doubles match. Almost cost me a game when I was two stocks down. Thankfully I'm alright at this game and managed to come back <3

Just gonna explain a few things in detail for other's benefit.
1. The Game Traders gift cards were going to result in another $170 cash being injected into the pot. We were going to simply exchange the cards with our own money. It was worth being salty over, but I also think Game Traders made the right decision. We are simply the wrong customers for them to sponsor.
2. This tournament almost fell flat before it started. LanSmash changed the dates of its SummerSmash event because of OHN in Sydney. It was fortunate that I saw the date change when I did and we were able to secure a venue. It was like a dream come true when I called up the Brisbane City Council and booked the Sunnybank Community Hall. It was a proper sized venue, had the right amenities and the right availability.
3. Of course, that had to be a dream. We arrived in the morning and a church group showed up and had started setting up as well. They had an annual booking, and at first we were told by the Brisbane City Council that it was cancelled by them for that particular weekend. Turns out that a glitch in their system had allowed us to make a booking at that venue for the times that we did.
Fortunately, the head church organiser was able to work with us and manage to finish their session at 12PM. They were extremely kind to have made arrangements to finish early for our benefit. They had no real obligation to. If they had stood their ground, we would have been offerred the Inala hall many suburbs away, which would have been incredibly impractical. The tournament may have likely taken place at my house instead. It doesn't matter anyway. I am just incredibly thankful to the church.
The only things that happened were that we had to cut pools (and personally, I find pools annoying at best) and everyone had time to get breakfast/pile into my house and wait around -_-.
AD3PT/Dif also did sign ups/payment at my house whilst waiting.
4. Our tournament was almost interrupted by a massive tree branch falling down and landing across power lines and another tree at the venue. That a lot of the weight was held up by another tree was a blessing. Energex arrived at the venue about and hour and a half later to remove the branch and cut it up. There was no damage to the power lines, so the tournament wasn't interrupted for repairs or anything like that.
5. Money wasn't properly distributed. What transpired is disputed, so just read back through the thread.
Because Nova's alt and all of its posts seem to have vanished off the face of the earth, there's nothing to reference which makes things difficult, but I am working with Mic to see if we can have them undeleted for posterity's sake. I don't mean to absolve myself of responsibility, but, the only two responsibilities for me at this tournament have been:
a) The logistics of hosting people and making sure that their stay here was enjoyable.
b) Making sure we were in and out of the venue on time.
That is to say, I only really kept track of what was directly affecting me, since that is all I wanted to make time for in the months/weeks/days leading up to and during the event. Otherwise, I just kept on Ad3pt and Dif and assisted them as far as handling people and equipment went. I left the handling of money and the construction of the brackets to the others.
I hadn't been keeping too many tabs on the main thread, which is a bad place to be advising on the distribution of money you are giving away in the first place (if no direct contact with advice was being made). I assumed that Nova and AD3PT were in contact and were organising it. If Nova didn't directly contact AD3PT to advise on the new distribution of the injection, then to me, that was a mistake.
On the other hand, I was only checking the main thread for housing needs, which is why I created the separate thread.
I didn't really think much of it when Metalliguy said that the money was all to go to Brawl. I just assumed it was some new arrangement that had been sorted out. I also listened to Zac talking to SD about the Melee Pot only being $60 for first or however much it was, so I also assumed somebody had already spoken to Melee peeps about it.
Regardless, I deeply regret not following up on it and I do apologise to Nova and the Melee players put out as a result. Consider the experience banked as a lesson learned for the future to be more careful with money. I'm not used to the idea of a 3rd party influencing the pot split, although, that's moot now.
I'm looking forward to not having cash prizes at future Brawl events in Queensland.

The Queensland hotel crew! My god <3 all you guys. Drinking early into the night and god Kaion, so funny and such a nice guy! Your popo scares the **** out of me, not even lying. That money match, thought you had that haha. Jezmo, I don’t know how you put up with my baddie Olimar and wrecking it all day. You’re also such a nice guy/funny and defs was a real pleasure meeting you! Aero, bit of a shame I didn’t get to talk to you more but yah pleasure meeting you as well! You came off as a nice enough fellow :] Really want to come down sometime soon again! (although your weather is so bad, stop being so humid omg).
AD3PT and Vyse for organizing such an excellent tournament despite being plagued with hassles throughout the day :]! Finally got to meet you Matt and pleasure to say you’re a hell chill guy. When I come down again, defs gotta get to know you a bit better, didn’t get much time to actually talk to you.

The purple pikimin are the real bad guys. They use there weight to boss around poor Olimar. Any sign of self confidence and the purples back hand the little guy so hard that even Gannondorf can gimp him off stage.

arrow - you and dean are by far my favourite smashers to play games with. so much hype and so little caring about the result.
bob - awesome to see you active again. gonna have to practice up so the bob+arrow team can be hitting grand finals with consistency again.
