Ok my issue is retrieveing queries from my database into my site - such terms as:

$query = "select author, title from aticles ";
if (! empty($author)) {
$query .= "AND name LIKE '%$name%' ";
}
if (! empty($title)) {
$query .= "AND title LIKE '%$title%' ";
}

Some reason sql doesn't like the if statements, . Although if I do - I don't get syntax errors:
if ($author == "author") {
$query .= "where name LIKE '%$author%' ";

It seems to pick up in my queries - or it doesn't nothing .Either way instead of filtering my search it just displays everything.

Maybe smashboards isn't a good medium for help I'll just do it tomorrow and maybe sleep tonight.
