You guys are doing some unnecessary things lol

you can hold up with your toe, tape the stick up, do whatever it takes once you have the bomb out. Press airdodge and A quickly after, then press b.

Standard toaster you're like four hours away come on down here and show me your secrets. I've been doing this for 25 hours in a row and it doesn't seem to be working out so well. I had to get some of that cleareye stuff because I ran out of tears.

Try just practicing airdodge up with no other inputs. Do that for a LONG time. Practice doing it right, left etc. Once you have that down, try airdodging up and hitting cstick up at the same time and see if it's any better for you.
Air dodge moves about half the length of a double jump. Does that sound about right?

Kink, have you tried swapping controllers? Maybe your controller isn't registering Up all the way properly. You would hardly notice because smashes would still work, and there aren't many times when you need full analog degrees of up, although DIing and ADing do. DIing would be really hard to notice. But airdodge is analog so if your controller isn't registering 100% up you are neither getting maximum height nor maximum momentum.

It isn't really fair to blame the controller for my inadequacies, food.

This is the only controller I've ever had for my Gamecube so I wouldn't know if it's inputting anything differently than it did 11 years ago.

I'm not saying blame the controller. I'm saying try a different one.
Also how the **** does that thing last 11 years lol
Might be a good reason to try a different one to be sure that that really isn't the problem.
I don't think I could make that work unless I mained someone slow as hell... like bowser.

I just realized. It's kinda odd to know that characters cant transitions from running into walking.
Could you imagine that every time you broke into a jog, you either had to skid to a stop or dive to a screeching halt?
What a universe we play in.

host something big in iowa and i might go kink
My college's gaming club is hosting a LAN party on the 28th into the 29th for a $5 open entrance, and I plan on bringing my PM set up for friendlies and Honour Matches, if that sounds interesting enough.

If not I can use it as a means to get some local weight on the game

Though no one in the gaming club plays non computer/shooter games so I don't know how well that will bode.

Wedging P:M into the scene will be pretty hard if you don't have a second person there to play against you to show how entertaining the game can be. Imagine watching a someone fight a bot- That's how exciting it will be for everyone else to watch you fight people who never play.

EDIT: Well then again if you get them to play against each other natural competitive spirits may arise. But it's better to have another experienced player.

I don't get how to bomb jump. I've been trying all day since I got home 9 hours ago and can do it maybe 1 every 200 times?
I've done air dodge C-up
Air dodge A up
Late spin
AS SOON AS ****ING POSSIBLE SPIN
Smashing the **** upward on my control stick to start the airdodge
Holding up on the control stick to start the air dodge
Throwing the bomb early in the air dodge
Throwing the bomb late in the air dodge
And none of that seemed to make any difference in Toon Link coming even remotely close to the bomb.
Any tips? Preferably useful ones?
Step 1:
Practice jumping and airdodging upwards at the apex of your jump over and over again to get a feel for the input, and getting your maximum momentum off of the airdodge.

Step 2:

Once you get a feel for that, add the Cstick input at the same time you're pressing R/L and UP. The result should be that Toon Link will ZAir with upwards momentum. Keep doing this until you feel comfortable with the input.

Step 3:
Now that you've got that down, get the bomb in the picture. Do the same input you've been practicing in step 2 with a bomb and you should be AGTing upwards.

Step 4:
Practice UP-B directly after your toss. Get the timing down, and get a feel for it. For me, I just do it as early as I can after the toss. If you do it too late, you won't hit the bomb. Practice this until you starting hitting the bomb consistently.

Step 5:

Now that you can AGT into your bombs, all you have to do is UP-B again.

I made a new video personalized for you to help you get this down.

I will do everything in my power for you to get this technique down because I genuinely feel bad that you've wasted so many hours practicing this technique. It's really very simple, and I hope you'll be able to say the same thing once you're done following my instructions.

Wait why does holding down and pressing a C-stick aerial make characters fast fall? I thought something wasn't working right when I was platform dropping.
It's a known issue and will be addressed.

After you jump, you can just keep holding up no flicking and do it too. Cuts down your inputs to basically pressing L, A, and B at the right time.

I admit this is like every other AT for me since I started learning them like...6 years ago? 7? 8? I dont ****ing know anymore...

anyways....the more you stop trying to do it and just do it...the easier it is...Sorry if that's not help whatsoever I just know with everything from L-cancels to wavedash to shines, to shffling with spacies, to SHDF with Marth....etc. This has historically been my case. I try HARD! then I RAGE-quit

then like the next day when I'm more calm I try again and it gets alot easier.

I'm gonna laugh my *** off when Kink reveals he's been trolling you all this whole time.

Because no one could practice such a simple AT for 25 hours and still fail at it ... right?

nope not good enough. has to be a melee and/or pm event with a tourney and not just friendlies. hopefully a turnout like brain shock beta (Iowa tourney from a year or two ago).

I said this a few pages ago but as I'm not super popular around here I'm sure I was ignored, but I think it's an issue that might affect more than me so I want to file a small complaint:

In demo 2.0 Bowser causes the screen to shake when he moves, which is cool. However, in teams, the modified Melee-style camera combined with Bowser's screen shake can make it almost impossible to see what's going on and even started to make me a little sick (I had to stop playing).

I dunno the technical details of what you guys did, but is it possible for that to be toned down a little bit? lol

If you get frustrated when practicing then STOP PRACTISING and go back to it later, its so hard to be productive when you're in a bad mindset.

I've found that I learn way better when I spend 10-20 mins every day (or just regularly) on something rather than 5 hours for 2 days in a row, sleeping helps a lot for learning and you'll sometimes just wake up and do something you couldn't do the day before, which is much more rewarding then getting pissed off at being unable to do something for 15 hours.

Oh yeah and watch the stream Prof Pro linked, everyone! We'll try to keep you all entertained. :)
