Looks like sonic lost the utility from sideb for tick throwing and turning around in the air for different aerials :/

I guess I'll see how it goes for him when I get to try it but not thrilled about it.

Hyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyype.

Also, I'm glad to read that Snake is still able to move around while grabbing people; I thought that was only experimental.

Why are you such a **** rider? Srs question.
That's an excellent question. The idea of figuratively riding a piece of anatomy, commonly found on the male body -- and in varying size -- is not only perplexing to figure out, but endlessly fun to experiment with. You see, the concept of "**** riding" usually starts from a shapeless, empty relationship between two people. Over time, one party gains a drastic increase in their initiative, thus giving off the hypnotic aromas that will, inadvertently, attract those who are lazier and less involved in significant projects. This is similar to how Charizard behave when in large groups; everyone has motivation and, more importantly, the will to strive to be the best, but the most powerful of the Charizard will become something akin to a magnet, alluring the weaker peasants and even some of the stronger, better IV bred "Semi-Zards".

Don't try to make sense out of **** riding, you just cant. It's like watching gay porn just for the purpose of figuring out new things about the male body. I certainly don't enjoy suckling the teat of someone who is, doubtlessly, more successful than myself, but, ultimately, it's beneficial to furthering the extent of my own psyche -- its capabilities and overall quality. You should do it more often. Even if you only want to have fun with another guy, just ride his **** into the sunset, and you'll be sure to become a much better person.

Probably because he appreciates talented, dedicated people making games that he enjoys in their spare time. For free.
Okay. As I previously stated, who exactly is forcing you to develop P:M? I don't mean to start anything, but when I see this "we work for free...we work on this in our spare time.." nonsense I can't help but face palm. :glare:

Can you explain to me how the P:M idea came about? Because using the "we work for free" defense is just silly when you're volunteering.

And so is being overly demanding and utterly ungrateful of people who owe you nothing.

And this is entirely true:
I honestly don't think they're going to give one. Not out of spite, but more to give them less stress about a hard deadline. Better that they have the whole day to do their free work.

All conjecture though.

Woohoo! Only a couple more days before the P:M devs will start helping us with SSBMO ;]

Just kidding (maybe), but yeah, I'm super excited for the demo. Has landing detection been completed?

I'll admit, I'm extremely guilty of badgering you gents, but not to the extent of being labeled as "ungrateful". If being ungrateful means asking a bunch of questions with this :bee: mindset then holy balls, I'm so god damn ungrateful lol But I shall stand my ground. Don't complain about not being paid when you are willing put in work at no cost. :O

So are you going to answer my question? I would like to know who came up with the idea to recreate the melee engine in brawl using an elaborate set of codes, like the previous brawl mods(B+, B-). Since Shanus is the leader, I assume he is the one that hatched this brilliant idea? Can I get an Amen for confirmation?

I didn't mean to insult you, and if you think I did I apologize. It's just that every time I see a post by you it just sounds so intimate and 90% of the time it's aimed at Shadic. They say we're all a little gay on the inside but, you just make it so obvious(not that there's anything wrong with being gay) just saying.

What exactly are you trying to say? You're mad that Wolf can reverse-grab out of his up-B, even though Fox and Falco could in Melee?
No. I'm saying that it shouldn't be universal and happen in every part of up-b recoveries including the free fall.

That's because I'm bihomosexually heterosexual.

And a furry.

And a brony.

And this:
My masculinity is an inside joke. You'll figure out why if you watch SYMN.

I don't know why no one has commented so far...

I'm very surprised that Lucas will be returning in demo 2. Between all the "lucas is crap" taunts and that he seemed very experimental and susceptable to change, I really thought he would not be returning. I hope the backroom are 100% happy with lucas that he merited being included

I'm guessing that ZSS will not be returning because then samus would have to return, and she still has some LD glitches associated with her

If player X has to learn how to decide between option A and option B (where neither option is strictly better in this situation), as well as learn how to do both proficiently, then player Y has to learn how to counter both tactics. Perhaps simultaneously.
If player X only is allowed to learn how to do option B, then you lose all of the depth. Player Y only has to learn how to do one thing, and player X only has to learn how to perfect 1 thing. This is a loss of depth.

You would still have to learn how to recover correctly, it's just the definition of "correctly" has expanded to make things more dynamic. Forcing a player to do something "the right way" (an arbitrary, grandfathered in right way at that) makes it impossible to develop playstyles and mindgames, making the game less of a game by strict definition and more of two opposing sets of solitaire. You test one persons ability to do exactly and only one thing and you test another person's ability to do exactly and only one thing. They just happen to be "interacting" in the loosest sense of the word.
It still doesn't change the fact that reverse ledge grabs are largely unneeded and more options offstage is also largely unneeded. Being offstage should be the worse possible situation you can be in because you are so perdictable. This is an aspect of the game that should be left untouched and is something players have to learn and understand (which is depth). Even if reverse ledge grabs give people headaches because they now have to decide between two options... it is going against what should be the difficulty and consistency requirements for recovering.

Btw, your solitaire metaphor is confusing. Two opposing sets of solitaire would be two games which have the same GOAL. But there are sometimes multiple options in solitaire, and if you don't examine all of them and make an incorrect decision then you lose the game.

However, even then, the solitaire metaphor wouldn't make any sense because a recovering player and an edge guarding player don't have the same goal... they have corresponding ones. So yes, they are directly interacting with each other. One player is trying to kill their opponent and the other is trying to not be predictable and not die. I see plenty of decision making to be had with the existing recovery system i.e. saving jumps, using a character's aerial stalling move, wall jumps, and CHARACTER SPECIFIC reverse grabs. All these options comprise how effective a character's overall recovery ability is and its up to the player to understand them all. A general across the board recovery buff with reverse grabs loses some of that depth in character understanding.

Add onto that the many character specific moves that you'd lose;
*Ganon/captain edgehogging by using an onstage forward B
*Or Zelda with an up B
*The walljump tech I explained earlier
*DK using an UpB defensively and retreating to the ledge
*Marth/luigi using a reverse UpB from the ledge to kill a recovering opponent

and you undeniably lose aspects of the game that make the game interesting.

Don't look at anything as an addition. Look at it in a vacuum.
You'll make much better decisions that way.
RAR wavedash to ledge grab is the fastest way to get on ledge... not sure why we have to forgive people who side-b self destruct. It is simultaneously giving a character an option they don't need while arbitrarily giving players one less mistake to worry about.

Zelda's recovery is amazing, I don't know why it would be so hard to ask players to just reverse up-b if they aren't facing the ledge as one requirement to use it correctly. All Sheik players have to do it in Melee.

Wall jump tech could be something unique to a few characters. But since a majority of the cast don't have wall jumps, again, it is something very unneeded.

Does the entire cast need reverse grabs so DK can do this? I've said it before, I am not against selective reverse grabs. Spinning recoveries like DK and Bowser should get reverse grabs

So Luigi now wants to save his opponent? Super Jump Punch knocks upwards; not out. Not to mention I have no idea which character you'd be able to pull this off on. And Marth's reverse up-b only hits strong on the first hit... that first hit only being only on the side you reversed from which is now facing the stage. So Marth would actually be hitting behind him with only the weak hit. Why wouldn't a Marth just jump off then reverse up-b back up to the ledge? Why wouldn't he bair if he was on the ledge?

And actually, at high percents, Marth's weak hit up-b would be decent at gimping. Does anyone think that would be a stupid safe edge guard technique to ledge drop > reverse up-b (covering that WHOLE area with a disjointed attack making most low recoveries useless) > ledge grab, then rinse repeat.

My god, please prevent that from happening. And this is from a Marth main.

I didn't count 29.

I only counted 23 because only ten were confirmed + the vets.
Pit, ness, Pikachu, Peach and Luigi have all been unofficially confirmed (Pineapple). So that should make 29:

Fox
Falco
Jigglypuff
Sheik
Marth
Peach
Falcon
Ganon
Mario
Pikachu
Donkey Kong
Luigi
Link
Zelda
Game & Watch
Bowser
Ness

Snake
Wario
King DDD
Lucario
Toon Link
R.O.B.
Pit
Wolf
Sonic
Ike
Charizard
Lucas

I was personally hoping for ZSS but obviously either she or her other half arn't ready yet

I'm pretty sure marth has better options than weak hit upB. If he can hit you with that in the situation you're talking about you were going to die anyway.

Please give Wario a Bicep Polish over his crappy laughing taunt.
But that's his best taunt. The "wiggle a bit" one is the bad one; spot dodge makes a better taunt than it.
After Demo 2, means we.

and if you could run up the nose from the platform
As a man with hay fever, I am opposed to running (on) noses.

And actually, at high percents, Marth's weak hit up-b would be decent at gimping.
Damn, I hate being gimped at high percents! Almost as bad as being edgeguarded while onstage!

Whats that?
Basically a game of competitive, quasi-interactive solitaire. Panel de Pon would've worked, too.

Regarding the actual substance of the reverse-ledgegrab argument: I am a fan of its limited existence. It's better than having it all the time à la vBrawl (which was often more hindering than helpful), and better than having it only on some characters à la Melee 1 (which was rather arbitrary), and better than not having it at all (which isn't even really an option since it'd alter the Spacies).
It doesn't really matter to me personally whether it's during all special fall or only when sweetspotted. However, I think there's a stronger argument that the latter would be the choice more in line with the stated goals of recreating Melee physics and attracting Melee players.

G-Dub Snip: "he retains the ability to act after his Up-Special"

Does this mean he can WD out of parachute again ala Demo 1? I remember talking to JCeaser before and he mentioned that you guys took it out. I know you can do an aerial out of it.

At the same height as the ledge it's not really doable.
here Lucas accidentally goes offstage and uses reverse AD to the ledge to quickly recover from his mistake. notice it's from the same height as the ledge (or even slightly below) so it is "doable"

http://www.twitch.tv/fireballstars/b/314574384?t=16m8s

Lucas should have been forced to use his up-b to recover giving his opponent more time to punish his mistake (assuming that Lucas didn't SD trying to recover with pkt2)
that's just 1 more example of why reverse ledge grabbing dulls down gameplay.

I think it's upB -> aerial -> airdodge now

:phone:
The same as sonic then.

I noticed that homing attack -> homing attack has been taken out. Was this option too potent and brainless to be included?

I agree, there should have been more of a punish for such a mistake
