Smooth Criminal I see you with that jojo signature. Any other fans of jojo's' bizzare adventure in here?
No
we only like Melee here
other video games are unacceptable
EDIT: Yes this is a thinly veiled jab
EDIT2: what the **** I thought I was in a different thread, nvm, this thinly veiled jab falls on deaf ears

So, whipped up a couple of shirt prints that I want to do
[collapse=Hello, my name is: John]

I always remembered somewhat enjoying SPM but I found the game to be absolutely horrible on replay. It's the kind of game with a decent first impression but is abysmal in terms lasting satisfaction. The one plus I can give to the game is that the story really culminated well in the end. The combat is just doing literally the same thing over and over for 8 chapters (sans like 1 or 2 unique chapters) and it really doesn't help that the level designs in terms of aesthetics do very little to distinguish from each other, which makes the chapter become bland very quickly and almost Metroid 1-nightmare inducing (SO MANY ROOMS LOOK THE SAME). Then there's chapters where I feel like the game is attempting to satirize RPG tropes but forgets to make the game actually fun. "Let's grind for money to pay off a tremendous debt! Oh whoops, that's exactly what you're doing this entire time" (Sup Chapter 2-3). "Let's do pointless amounts of trial-and-error backtracking for a fetch quest in a god damn vertical platforming stage until you find the right fruit!" (You will not be missed, Chapter 7-3).

All I felt after finishing SPM for the second time in several years was contempt and a desire to put the game as far away from me as possible.

But at least it's not Sticker Star where I stopped at Chapter 2-3 and couldn't be motivated to even play it. What a sad game.

The manga just gets better and better. except for part 6, that one was pretty dumb. part 7 is awesome bc they hunt for the body parts of jesus christ while on a horserace across 19th century america. diego brando ftw

I'm tackling it as we speak. Part 4 and all of the other arcs behind it were awesome. Part 4 in particular is probably my favorite in the whole series so far. Part 7 was okay, and I'm reading Part 5 right now. Haven't got to 6 yet (I'm kinda bouncing around since there's no real "continuity" outside of recurring characters).

Every time the series introduced a new "Jo" I liked them less than the last.
I struggled through part 5, and gave up a little bit into part 6.

This sums up SPM for me pretty much. Loved the game before it came out and enjoyed my first playthrough a lot, although I wouldn't really play it again.
Chapter 7-3 was so annoying, the same goes for a majority of Chapter 8. Blecks Castle annoyed the daylights out of me.

8 was alright, but that might have been because I (for whatever reason, still don't know why I bothered) picked up Dashell from the Pit of 100 Trials and sped through them in Flip mode.

I just can't give myself any reason to play the game again after that run now. If I'm playing through the game and the thought "Oh I remember this part, I really hate this part." keeps showing up at almost every junction, then I probably shouldn't be playing it to begin with. I wish I could remember all the individual dumb moments in it (Chapter 8-2: Let's climb up a very long vertical passageway only to teleport you to the guy who has this book I need so you can climb all the way back up to get a key from me; Chapter 6-1: Let's tread through the exact same room 20 times to fight 20 nearly identical fights then repeat that but with no fights for Chapter 6-2, ****), but it's pretty clear in my mind that I didn't enjoy most of it. I will never, ever forget the Whoa Zone though. **** that. At least Mr. L is pretty kickass.

And then IS scraps the writers altogether and gives us this unintuitive, nonsensical game called Sticker Star. Why.

Damn, I can really rant about that game.

Does it work it coin too?
Link would probs be top-tier at solo-coin matches...

I had Dashell since early on as well, but Chapter 8 just bothered me too much on a personal note and don't even start with the Whoa Zone, so damn annoying.

Sticker Star though.. I picked it up for 5 minutes and never touched it again. That game is just plain terrible.

Probably yeah, given that the match only ends if time (if any set) runs out.

Got to 2-3 and called it a day. I really don't know what they were thinking or where the PM/TTYD people are.

Don't know if the phrases "where's my jump", "I thought I had another jump", or, "I lost my jump somewhere" ever come up in anybody else's groups, but I thought it was something everybody could relate to.

Dih we even play the same game? I remember it being too easy, but pretty fun. It wasn't very time consuming, and it was super dark for a Mario game, possible even darker than super Mario RPG. I liked that Nintendo took a chance, but I wouldn't want them to do it again. Overall it was a fun, interesting game.

SPM was pretty difficult and it was clear that some characters were better than others. The controls could be a bit frustrating at times, and the complete 2D world (where you can only turn it to 3D for so long) got on my nerves.

The story for SPM is absolutely amazing, and imo it's the only Mario game ever (aside from maybe one or two others) that has a great story.

Just put together the plan for a P:M guide for my French peeps. Feel free to inspire and provide feedback (forgot anything ? The order is stupid ? Let me know !). It's supposed to be in 10mn video format, I just need to wait until I have time, aka this summer.

I - Introduction
-what is P:M
-how to install
-where to find players
-the no johns mindset that will help you get good
II - Vocabulary
- the attacks
- the movement
- the defenses
- the stage and its parts
- hitboxes, hitstun, ...
III - ATs
-from melee : l cancel, wavedash, waveland, edge cancel and taunt cancel, crouch cancel 1 and 2, dash dancing, jump cancelled grab, pivot, reverse B
-from brawl/P:M : B reverse and wavebouncing, platform cancel, glide toss, instant toss and AGT, rar, dacus, crawl dash
IV - advanced Mechanics
-sweetspot recoveries, powershielding, isai drop
-how to read and use frame data
-DI
V - Strategy
-the notion of options and mixups
-the different phases of play : neutral game, edgeguard, ledgeguard, juggle
-dissecting the neutral game : spacing, zoning, positionning, shield pressure, walls and approaches
-the counterpicking system

Just noticed Project M Roy in the top of the page, shed a tear of pride, and went back to seeing FE: 6 Roy shame all who share the class of Lord with his terrible promotion timing.
Still haven't played FE6 sadly but I heard horror stories of Roy as a crappy Lord which sucks cause he's one of my favorite FE characters :( . Oh well I will download a ROM of it and play it after I buy me a copy of FE7 and finish FE Shadow Dragons. Still mad that Nintendo never released the remake of FE3 from the DS out here in the states :( .

Paper mario: the one thousand year door?
Super mario rpg?
Mario and Luigi bowser's inside story?

The list goes on and on.......

Mario & Luigi RPGs are great, though I must say, Dream Team was kind of a let down though. Not a bad game, just a disappointing one.

Mario RPGs greatness end in threes I guess.

Needs to be a fundamentals/foundation section in there somewhere. Probably between II and III. Also, a section about how to improve yourself and doing your homework outside of just the guide.

Hmm, the whole thing sounds like fundamentals to me. What would you put in the fundamentals section ?
I do agree with the homework bit. It will go in both part 1 and 5 I think.

The most basic stuff. Obviously, if you're downloading PM, you've probably played a Smash game already and know how to move your character and all that but you never know. People could be coming from completely different games (just look at ARMA 2 and DayZ). The thing for me was jumping from vocabulary straight into things like L-cancelling and wavedashing without going through the stuff in between those two steps.

I would assume from the perspective of someone who has never played a smash game before and add things like:
- What is Competitive play?
It helps to give a little context to players. Why are we turning off items and banning certain stages, etc.

- What makes Smash different from other fighting games?

Basically, if you were building someone from the ground up to get them to a point where using things like Wavedashing would add to their gameplay. They need to have a solid grasp on their obvious options like rolling, sidestepping, shielding, etc. I always see a lot of players looking at wavedashing and the other stuff as instant-win techniques instead of options to help improve their fundamentals.

Sort of like how Blazblue does it. It takes you from the absolute bottom and builds you up.

Edit: I realize that this adds a lot more work to your project but as we all know, Smash is a VERY deep game.

Strategy should be the 3rd video imo. In terms of getting into the game, that stuff is way more important than ATs. Plus that way you can explain the ATs in the context of how they are actually useful. "This is how you wavedash, which will help you with spacing and movement like we discussed earlier", vs, "This is how you wavedash, we'll explain why this matters later." DI should also be much earlier.

I need them. Freaking brilliant.
"Someones touching me!" "I didn't sleep last night OR the night before that."
The shirts and then the above quotes did me in.
I need a moment...

Gonna fiend through the anime and cover any gaps with relevant parts of the manga. Yo, Dio though...

Speaking of manga that keeps getting better (I mean, there is a bunch, but) ...

KINGDOM THO

If you can get over the sometimes odd proportioned bodies and junk, this **** just keeps getting more real and more hype. And it updates like once a week (at one point, 3 times a week). Has a long-running anime, but you gotta get through awful CG 1st season. Still godlike.

I've only read the first three arcs of Jojo's because people say the translations/scans starting at Part 4 aren't so hot.

Excited for Part 3 Anime, Abdul in anime form sounds GDLK
