A lot of players don't enjoy Brawl at all, it seems like MD/VA is really going in that direction, but I know most of NJ/PA's better players really aren't interested in Brawl, especially despite placing pretty high @ Chu's this weekend.

Some people don't care about the list, but I know that I really do, and I don't even think this has to be a final list either. The post-Brawl Melee community does have a strong base, and I don't see us going anywhere for a while. Melee still has way too much to offer for me to just play Brawl.

M2K has said that everyone sucks at Melee, himself included. There is still much to learn. I think he's right, and until Brawl can offer the same amount, I don't see myself playing it seriously.

Summary: It's true that a lot of people care much less about this list than they have previous ones, but there are still a lot of players who are very interested in the list being accurate.

M2K also says brawl is a really bad game but he continues to play it on wifi >_>.

And I hate to say it but if youre still expecting big melee tournaments, especially with brawls release on the way, im sorry that you do >_>. cause otherwise you'll be flying out of state and losing profit (A lot of good players make money everytime they fly out, but now with the sliced community you could still not make profit)

Well that's just my say even though this isnt my regional section.

uhh

as much as i like brawl, scars right, the majority of nj/pa is def stickin with melee as of now. i originally dropped melee for brawl but now seeing that the melee community will still be quite alive here in nj/pa, im still playing it along with brawl. in spammers defense he went to 4 tourneys in his area, which isnt as many as most ppl here, i would think it would be enough. if u have to go to something like vls or pound to be elligble, then put me on the list! lol jk

To be on the list, you have to not suck in addition to going to things. The part about not sucking is obviously more important than attendance.

most people who dont like brawl are the people who know barely anything about it, and basically suck terribly at it. dont you remember getting good at melee? it was so much fun to learn new tricks and learn the physics to gain absolute control of your character.

brawl is the same, its a new game with new physics and new tricks to learn. it brings me back to the old days years ago when i tried to learn so much about melee. its a new competitive game and people will have to learn it inside and out to gain the edge in tournaments.

most people seem to just think they already know everything about brawl, and already call it a "bad game". i think the only real difference is that the game is slower, and requires less button presses/inputs. does this make it less competitive? maybe, it definitely doesnt seem to have the depth of melee and its somewhat infinite amount of strategies...... but brawl isnt even out yet, and people are quick to judge because they dont have the same control... because they arent good yet. thats how i feel

I dunno, there is one really good reason for why I don't like Brawl and I don't want to discuss it too much on here because we discuss it everywhere else on SWF, but like... hitstun is too low and knockback is too high for consistent, reliable combos.

Consistent and reliable combos along with potential for DI-dependent amazing unbelievable combos are the reasons why I play and love SSBM, and they aren't in Brawl at all. And this is a matter of opinion and personal taste, I will continue to play the game and maybe it will grow on me, but at this point I am both bored with Brawl and have no intention of getting good at it.

I don't know how anyone can claim that they didn't know the lists were do, I had the deadline of March 1st up for quite sometime, February 10th to be exact.

Cort posted on the 11th by saying, "Sounds good. (in reference to the due date of march 1st)

Is this the topic to discuss things?

Are we doing top 10 or 15?"

Perhaps next time around we need to start over with an entirely new panel, because it seems the panelists can't get their act together.

Plank is better than Tope
This is incorrect because I do not lose to TA members like Aho/Meep/Fonz.

Sheik, Falcon, and Luigi are not my secondaries. Also, I was playing at my friendly level.

1. M2K - Obvious
2. PC - Obvious
3. Cactuar - Obvious
4. Eggm - Obvious

5. Hax - He's been on the scene proving himself for a while, just took a major regional for him to really be noticed.

6. Tec0 - He's somewhat inconsistent. Had decent showings at the major regionals and does well within tri-state.

7. Teh_Spamerer - Not very active, making it an issue to put him on a power ranking. If he were more active he would probably be around Eggm.

8. Jman - He's better than you Scar.

9. Scar - He has his own list of Scarcomplishments posted pretty much anywhere that he has access to. I don't need to elaborate.

10. Vanz - Vanz could easily be higher on the list, I'm just waiting for the general opinion about his placement. He has a couple of noteworthy wins including Bum and chillin (?).
i think the Tristate list should should look something like this

1. M2K
2. PC
3. Cactuar
4. Eggm
5. Hax
6. Tec0
7. Jman
8. Teh_Spamerer
9. Scar
10. Vanz
11. alukard
12. starz
13. idc
14. idc
15. idc

Hey, I applied to be a panelist, but nooo...

*Pretends to be concerned.*

Seriously, we all know the real deal. Even if NEO shouldn't be on the list, most of you guys know he'll take your cookies. When we get together and smash at these tournaments, most of us can be honest and say a certain person is better than the other based. The rankings don't have any kind of pull besides fake prestige; just like how YouTube is voting an Ike named Kirk to be the best Ike (over Azen and Ken).

It shouldn't be too hard to tally up rankings and provide additional rules on the basis of attendance or the lack thereof. It just needs to be more specific. What tournaments are we including? How many tournaments does that come to? What should be the percentage of attendance to be allowed on the list? How does consistency and constant participation measure with poor attendance but possible higher placings? Finally, do the MATH.

There shouldn't be much debating.

One thing about this drama is that hardly anyone besides people on the list care about the list. Therefore everyone should get a custom title showing what rank they are to force this knowledge on the public. I need to upgrade nao

This. If these rules were clearly spelled out then there would be significantly less drama to deal with, since there would be a standard.

I apologize for not including you. We had originally sent a confirmation letter to Vist, who like never posted, and I ended up having to take his spot.

Believe me I would have rather not been a panelist.

I'm not trying to complain or anything, but I think that I should be on the list along with Boss.

We enter tournaments and our placings are quite similar.

The most important fact that I wanted to share is that we have both improved very quickly from where we were a year ago.

Okay, I'ma just go ahead and throw this out there....Just my opinions.
Korn, I love you, so don't be offended, but I'm pretty sure Blues is better than you. =/ And you probably have advanced quickly, but I've only been going to tourneys fo a bit over a year and I'm pretty sure I'm as good as you if not better than you (Not trying to be egotistical)
Also, Scar I love you, but I think you were trying to overrate yourself a bit. I think I 2-0'd you both times I played you in tourney(I have an awful memory though, it Might have been 2-1 at C3), not that those facts necessarily state much, but jus' sayin'...

I wish I were on the list too, but I'm pretty new and I know Blues is better, so I am not disappointed.

Aw ****, I almost forgot.
Tope is the best Sheik in MD/VA.

I think it's safe to assume Bum was taken off because of the lack of traveling. Now I could be wrong, but I don't think Ryoko does much either. Which is why there should be guidelines to follow for any power rankings list. Eg. Player must attend x number of tournaments between the voting time and whatnot.

i love this drama lol... but to bad melee is getting owned by brawl as for tournaments ... no one in nyc wants to play melee anymore -_- ... well not enough people to have a tournament =\ ... so all this intense stuff would create some great sets in the upcoming tournaments

Justifying someone's placement by your own individual tournament/friendly experiences with them happens a lot in various NJ rankings boards. It is known as Inui Logic. It's why we do things via panel.

Tope it doesnt matter who I lose to as long as I win when it matters. I can play ****ty and lose to whoever but the fact of the matter is I'm a clutch player and when it matters I do better and place better. Get *****.

Luckily the power rankings dont mean that much for md/va anyway since all 3 panelists are va/extremely cocky and biased LMFAO good ****

OMFG ALUKARD I LOVE YOU! We do definitely need to play again dude. I'm trying to come up to NY later this year. And yea I know we suck for not getting on the list. I didn't attend the 1 last tourney where I had a chance to get 15th in MD/VA lol

Also, Plank, I love you, but god **** you are too cocky lol.

You had me at cocky. I decided that I don't want to be on the rankings because people would lose their ability to smash, due to their embarrassment and all. Also, that I got hit by a mobile vechile on my way to a tourney, that HBK invited me too. My right hand was destroyed, I couldn't smash or masturbate at all, well, I used the left one to trenderize my chicken but at the finish line, it just went in all different directions, messy messy, but really, I am recovered from that tragic event and will soon practice again with KDJ.
