He's probably saying that it's not feasible to have an atmospheric and soothing song(s) while being fast paced.

Hey Angiance, buy a video game (Random one), mute your TV, play it for awhile, then compose something to that video game. You don't have to code or anything but you can still have inspiration.

I have Chinese 4. Stupid ******* Chinese... also I took AP Computer Science so Java. Ick.

Saying if you only have one musical style and you base a game off of that, rather than compose based off of what your story needs, you'll never get any good contrast and emotion out of anything. And I'm sure your style is much more annoying than boring anyway.

Oh, and yes, spoken Japanese is fairly easy, it has few grammatical rules and phrase structure is pretty much whatever.
Learn some words and you're pretty much done.

Written japanese however, includes Kanjis, those made with several strokes, having different readings depending on the context and usage... Yes, that part can get pretty difficult...

I got bored so I tried to recreate Pallet Town based on how it has appeared in the various games. It reminded me how bad I am at building things.

The style of music is the same, but the feelings I put into the song will, of course, be based on what I am given

If I am given a stage that is a grassy plain with a lake in the background, the music will be airy; peaceful; cleansing
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pz5ozgGxg1U&feature=youtube_gdata_player

A stage that is in a forest and the music will be mysterious but beautiful
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0YfIHieP30g&feature=youtube_gdata_player

...I mean, I've been studying music since I was 15 ^ - ^

Thor, that's actually not a bad idea *smile*

Mhm, my style is
booooring. My beats are too slow, I should just make dance beats like I used to, then it won't be so boooooooooooooring

cool music

That's not bad at all, Vale. Pretty cool, actually.

Do more, do more! =3
i'll post route 1 when i get the time to finish it. i think i need to combine 5x5 blocks that use the same color, not sure if it will have a noticable effect on graphics

is "retro" a genre? just make something simple, like one of those games where you bounce a ball off a little thing at the bottom of the screen to break blocks. allows for different backgrounds each level which means more chances to make music

Hmmm...too simple, although I really should start simple

I can draw animations fairly well, so sprites are covered

Music is my entire motivation for creating a game, so that's obviously covered

I'm just gonna make a simple, 3 stage side scroller

Anybody got ideas?

jumpin' and shootin' are usually great places to start side scrollers. just hope game maker has some sort of collision detection that you don't have to code yourself

what about pogeymanz musics? i like a lot of the g/s/c soundtrack, but Village Bridge from b/w is pretty good.

Oh. Very nice~

May I ask what program you're using to make those Vale~?
Ahhh. Also village bridge...

I would just hang out in that area all day in my game when I wanted to train just for the music. Totally peaceful. I always had the beat boxer and the guy under the bridge singing when I was there.

O wow that looks like a 3D replica of the grayscale. I never used such a program before so no idea of what a rock would be is odd to me....
EDIT: Hmm I probably should go a day of trying my hardest to speak correctly and list out my thoughts in a not so confusing manner. O and changing the base in my voice would be cool to for I am quiet when I am not saying COMPLETELY random stuff.

I'm using a free software called ROBLOX Studio. It is a free 3D building sandbox with integrated Lua for game development. I usually just make scripts, but felt like I should practice my building on something and this was the first idea I got after all of the discussion of artsy stuff in this thread. It's pretty fun, but most people I talk to don't really like the concept, so I'm not sure if I'd recommend trying it out or not.

On a related note, I'm trying to figure out how to create proper metatables/classes in this so I can script obtaining a starter and battling wild Pokemon in the tall grass. I might show off a GUI if I figure it out.

EDIT: Also, nice choice of music Agniance.

I remember that one metal remix of the champion theme from GSC that everyone was wet for back when Brawl was released-ish. I thought it was overrated.

Well, people generally think of that style of music as automatically amazing *shrugz*

Puttin' in work, eh, Vale? I'll keep an eye on your art *smile*

My upload of that song has by far the most views of all my videos lol. & I don't even actively use YT anymore.

I think it might be result #1 or #2 if you search it too.

Grrrrrr, happy birthday, Roller. For your birthday, I'll mix a song; choose a series: Kirby, Final Fantasy, or Megaman

'Scuse the absence, got my head stuck deep up Bravely Default coding and other worthwhile pursuits.

Oh yeah, PZ, I'll gladly mix a kirby song; that music just SCREAMS "please mix me!"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ge2EtnkYxxA&feature=youtube_gdata_player

Kaylo, about getting alot of views for something unoriginal, it is ANNOYING when people upload nightcore of a song and get hundreds of thousands of views; absolutely zero heart put into most nightcore

Coding is interesting, I started studying it last week

Honestly, I didn't know it was such a big thing for some people.

I was just uploading a bunch of songs because I was making .brstm files for custom Brawl stage music at the time. So more or less previews for the downloads, but I guess that offended a few people even though I made sure to always give credit lol.

Transpose midi files of Lost Woods into SNES Mario Paint's music composer. Gets few thousands views and dozens subscribers.
Continues Mario Paint, gets caught copying someone's personal mix of Mac Anu, deletes half of uploaded videos out of fear and never touched Mario Paint again.

Hell, I don't think I even signed onto my YT account for three years. Then again the merge with Google since long ago didn't make it any more incentive to use my account again.
