[Official SSB4 Discussion] --- Nintendo announces 2 new Smash games!

Toad has plenty of things he could use. Super Mario Bros. 2, Super Mario Strikers as well as pretty much everything Waluigi could have a moveset from, Toad could have a better one. Maybe I'll make a Toad moveset later.

I still think it's a stretch. I'd love to see a moveset, though.


On another note, no Final Smashes should be the same.

I don't know enough about Star Fox to propose a solution there.

There have been multiple suggestion for PK Rockin'.

And with Link and Toon Link... Lots of people have said use Wolf Link, and I suppose that would work. But I kinda like Link having the Triforce Slash (his has longer range anyway). Why not give Toon Link the Ballad of Gales or something as his Final Smash. Summoning a thunderous cyclone to hit your opponents would be so win.

I think Toad and Bowser Jr. are really the only Mario characters that have a good chance of making it in, I could be wrong though. Sakurai puts characters like Pit, Ice Climbers and ROB in the game, so I wouldn't be so suprised if he did something else like Geno just because he felt like it.

Pit, ICs and R.O.B. are part of Nintendo history...BIG parts of it, actually. Kid Icarus and Ice Climbers were some of the earliest and most recognized Nintendo games that people revere as gaming icons. R.O.B. saved video gaming by "tricking" retailers to carry the original NES. I'd say those three were perfectly justified for inclusion in Brawl.

Geno was in one third-party game that involved Mario. SMRPG, while VERY good, wasn't important to the history of Nintendo, as shown in the fact that there's been little to do with the game in over a decade. It's not going to happen. It would be pretty cool if it did, but let's be realistic. Same goes for 95% of all the third-party character people seem to want.

this is not the point, Geno has only been in ONE freakin game and you think he should be in? i think not, there are other "way more" deserving characters

Arwing should play like Snake's FS - where you go into cockpit mode and the other players can see themselves through the windshield. You THEN fire the hell out of them with lasers and smart bombs (A and B respectfully). The Wolfen should be a "character" like the Landmaster is, but it flies around and crashes into your opponents and the stage (can also shoot lasers). It would play entirely differently than the Landmaster. Also, crashing it will damage it, cutting down on its lifespan (it would still have a timed lifespan).

First off, it's Koopa. Second, he's only appeared in one game. Third, how's it going to look like when he throws a green shell, awkward... Fourth, he has a long way to go to be included into the fourth installment, being that there are much more worthy characters from the Mario series. Fifth, how could you imagine a moveset for him?
I'm tired of blatant, unintelligant 'character wishlists' in this thread.

Shiek is in the game because Zelda is in the game. Also, Melee focused on Ocarina/Majora's Mask.

Therefore, since Shiek was a major part of Zelda in OoT, Shiek was given a spot in Melee.

And because it would have been pointless to remove such a unique character as Shiek, Shiek stayed with Zelda in Brawl.

That is why Sheik is in. This doesnt mean anything for characters as insignificant as Geno or Koopa the Quick.

First off, half of those things you listed wouldn't even work.

Second, you forgot Megaman. Megaman is 100X more classic or historic or whatever you want to call it than something like StarCraft.

I lol'd soooooooooooooooooooooooooo hard at this. It doesn't make any sense. Most of those, actually all but like 3, have not been on a Nintendo system at ALL or were games based on a movie or comic book. Halo? In Smash? I hate people who think just because a character's cool, he deserves to be in Smash. Cloud and Masterchief make 0 sense. Naruto and any Star Wars character make less sense; they weren't even originally video games?! And coming in to a startling last, WoW, Civilization, Starcraft; all these games and any others you mentioned like it make like -9000 sense. These aren't even console games, they're computer games. While they all have made their impact on the video game industry, none of these have ever been on a Nintendo system. I guess these probably shoulda been grouped with the Cloud / Master Chief not making sense. but oh well. Oh, and in case you didn't realize, Smash includes all the famous NINTENDO characters (or those vital to Nintendo consoles / the developer's friend begged)

on a different note, i really think the yoshi and donkey kong series deserve more representation. Bowser jr. is originally from a yoshi game as is kamek and the baby bros. All of whom i think would make great characters. As for dk i would love to see k rool, funky, dixie, lanky and chunky be added. funky and chunky could easily be implemented as alt coustues, and the others have plently of potential movesets.

No clonely-like characters at all. Still have all the characters in Brawl, just have them be UTTERLY UNIQUE. For instance, Toon Link's B-moves could be based on the games he was in, like Four Sword (Fire Rod possible sideB, Pegasus Boots possible UpB, HAMMER for downB!), the Minish Cap, Wind Waker, make it more than just a taunt, it could be his Final Smash where he waves it and wind blows in the direction the gray joystick is pointed with debris like pebbles or boulders damaging opponents. Could also put in the Deku Leaf as his UpB. That, or he uses the Four Sword and you fight as four for a limited time. I only played Four Sword, so I can't come up with anything else.

There should also be more female representation, there's like, what, 3 out of 35 characters that are girls (5 out of 39 if you want to get technical). There should also be more female representation, there's like, what, 3 out of 35 characters that are girls (5 out of 39 if you want to get technical). I wouldn't count of Lara Croft ever coming in. The Earthbound girl you're thinking of is Paula. If not then you're thinking of Kumatora, Lucas' partner from MOTHER 3.

Shiek is in the game because Zelda is in the game. Also, Melee focused on Ocarina/Majora's Mask.

Therefore, since Shiek was a major part of Zelda in OoT, Shiek was given a spot in Melee.

And because it would have been pointless to remove such a unique character as Shiek, Shiek stayed with Zelda in Brawl.

That is why Sheik is in. This doesnt mean anything for characters as insignificant as Geno or Koopa the Quick.

1. Aren't the Link and Zelda of the SSB series meant to amalgamation of the past and present Links and Zeldas? Therefore, it's more or less irrelevant if that's the case. I also recall hearing that Sheik was requested as much as Zelda in Melee's polls, but I could be wrong.

I'd also like to mention that Sheik was revealed well before Zelda was.

2. Unique characters can get removed. Look at Mewtwo's unjustifiable fate.

For Mario characters, I think 4-5 could be acceptable. Princess Daisy, Bowser Jr., Geno (by popular demand, I just wish he had his own game first), King Boo (don't tempt me to make a moveset <<), and Paper Mario. For other characters, Princess Rosalina, imo, should def. be a costume. Mr. L could either be a costume for Luigi, or his Final Smash. One of my friends suggested that Princess Peach, Daisy, and Rosalina should be a switch-out triangle, like Zelda/Sheik or Red (Pokemon Trainer's actual name).

I had high hopes for Daisy being in Brawl, but so much for that. People may counter this in saying that Daisy will be another clone, but I beg to differ. On another forum, I made a moveset for her, completely different from Peach's. Besides, she deserves this spot more than Waluigi. At least she has background; Waluigi has none. I'd definitely be fine with Waluigi if he co-stars in a future WarioWare game, but I don't see him being in the next Smash over Daisy, imo.
Bowser Jr. is definitely a great character, at least to what I imagine him to be. There are so many possibilities for his Final Smash, therefore making Bowser Jr. a great overall character.
I'll be honest; I just finished Super Mario RPG a few months ago on an emu, but I loved it so much. Then I saw how Geno was overly requested in Smash, in coherence to Ridley. Geno would really make a great character, and not just that, it could seriously bring forgotten attention to Geno, hopefully persuading Nintendo to buy him back.
King Boo would be unique, but I definitely want him in. Ever since Mewtwo got removed, there haven't been any levitating characters. I want King Boo in for a unique way of playing, like Olimar.
Paper Mario was on my must-have list for Smash since I played and finished Paper Mario 64 back in 2000. They have two Links, why not two Marios?

This is just for Mario characters. I'll post and debate more Nintendo franchises later on.

Agreed, but Paper Mario couldn't hurt to be added. Besides, he kinda represents the RPG-side of Mario, besides the handheld versions.

Nope. Baby Bowser was Bowser himself as an actual baby during the timeline of Yoshi's Island. Bowser Jr. is another character in himself, like Bowser's son.

I would hope that the new SSE if they have any would have some parts that are very very sad. Like they should have Claus as a boss rather than a PC, then Lucas gets mad at him and beats him up very bad. Then Lucas snaps out of it, then Claus takes off his mask and says "Lucas... I am your brother". Then he dies, then Lucas is sad and cries. It is typical of many Japanese RPG to have some sad thing like this. I don't know how it would handle to American audiences though.

They should also have some very dramatic parts. Like for example, a Tabuu like character sends a shockwaves that knocks out the whole party. Most of the party is dying then one female character (perhaps the Earthbound rep) is dying and bleeding from the forehead. You see a closeup of her face and she prays from the bottom of her heart (some very sad song comes on) then falls on the floor unconscious. Then Ness who is somehow trapped or not present there hears that prayer and comes to the aid of everyone and saves the day. Ness better be heroic I think, and his partner should be Micaiah, Luigi, and Dedede.

I like that idea, especially the dramatic part. I haven't felt or seen that kind of dramatic action about a game since EarthBound or Fire Emblem: Blazing Sword. Problem is, I kinda prefer the Subspace Emissary to not speak too much, since you kinda have to figure out the storyline yourself. I also think that the Melee Adventure Mode should be back in the next Smash game, under the name of "Medley Mode" or "Tour Mode", or something like that. I enjoyed the style that Melee did in its Adventure Mode, but I felt as if it didn't do a good job at it, and I didn't see it in Brawl, so I'm hoping it's in the next Smash.
