Really? Well i never use training mode to train anyways, noone does lol
I know a lot of people that use training mode ro "hone skills", including myself. :ohwell:

Techniques like the SHFF Quickdraw and the Gale Return set-ups are too hard to learn in game IMO, so I use training mode. People also use it to demostrate techniques in videos (*cough* Izaw's Art of Link *cough*)

I actually recomment the use of training mode, it helps with a lot of things. :p

I use training mode.....Got to practice dem **** combo's....

If you can get 1 jab lock in then stop if you don't think you can get another.

They are put in a forced get up position. Don't mess it up by trying to do another jab lock. Do a spin attack or a partially charged D-Smash.

My training mode would be the Wi-Fi Waiting Room, against the all-powerful Sandbag. That's where I usually spend the most time practicing ATs.

I hate the sandbag because you can't grab him...... So you don't get to practice very well against it lol
plus it's knockback is extremely weird. GB sends it flying, while other moves don't send it very far at all.. you can get like 2 or 3 double hit f-smashes on it at low percents. Sandbag is really stupid, they should have just put in some random character to just stand there instead so you could actually practice.
I use training mode to practice jablocks and just keeping them going. Other than that, I don't need to practice Brawl very much.

Hmm... you have to send your wii off to Nintendo. That's how. :(
Does the Wii repair itself?

I dropped mine a dozen times ( gc wires) up to the point where the Wii will shut itself off every 30 minutes from playing too much . After that every 5 minutes....Then that's when I got a 360. After a few weeks of not playing the Wii started to play normally again. :)

(this took place before I got brawl.)

Swordplay, you have the "how do you bombslide?" question in the FAQ. I'd appreciate if you quoted me from my guide as to how to bombslide. I go quite in depth on the mechanics of it. I think it would really help.

Nice sig, btw.

THAT WAS KEN KING OF SMASH MASTER OF MARTH!!!!!! I'll put him back up.

(Sasook) (don't tell anybody. but that is part of the update :D )

Anyways Sasook. I realize that your guide goes much further in depth. That is why we reserve the right to send everybody to your guide if they ask. I don't want to quote you because your discussion is so long that the FAQ answer to be huge.

Right now I am seeing if I have the ability to create single posts in which I would be able to quote your lengthy and well written decisions and give a Link to it.

Only reason I haven't asked how to do that here is because this is the LINK question and answer thread.
I went to the general Q & A thread to see if I could get an answer.

I'll get back to you all shortly....

I got one question..... sorry is not about Link

I have the same problem sometimes. Off and On is the best I can do......

1st EDIT: Updated Bombsliding FAQ.

2nd EDIT:

Recent questions regarding DI have been asked and its not surprising as Link mains need perfect DI to overcome our terrible recovery.

Another question that has been popping up is about moves. Best move? Strongest move? Damage Rackers? Safe Moves? There has been some genuine interest in these subjects.

I will keep note of this and continue to update.

On a totally off topic note, sometimes my dazzle will record sound and sometimes it won't. Like say...

Match 3 ____ vs. ______ it records the video with sound and is fine.

Match 4 ____ vs. ______ it doesn't record sound and the video is all choppy.

Any reason why this happens?

Thats a pretty technical question. You may end up wanting to ask it in the general Q & A thread in the tactics section of SWF. If anybody knows the answer don't be afraid to share it!

Can you DAC right out of your shield?
I dont think you can cancel your sheild with a dac, but since there barely is no lag from dropping your sheild and you can buffer attacks I guess you could make it so fast if frame perfect that it seems like you are doing it right out of your sheild.

will that answere do?

EDIT: what about an "Official Research Thread"? where we are gathering things like which attacks zair whiplash works against, kill percentages, diminishing return effects and other stupid stuff that nobody has patience to do alone? Every number worthy to be thrown at us in one thread.
Opinions?

There is so much to know about brawl that I do not think it is worth it.

In actual game play, are you actually going to memorize those numbers?

Or will you more realistically memorize basic things like character weights?

I wouldn't do it but if somebody else wanted t other could.

Ah well I dunno, its just that I feel I want to know more.

Anyway I meant that any research would be collected in this one big large cute nice thread, it doesnt matter if it is priority, frame data, kill percentage, hit stun, knockback, attacks that zair whiplash recovery works against or how the gale rang works. It all would be in the thread to find.

Basicly any number that is to know so that if you are thinking a basic question about the physics of the game "like which attacks cancels gaws turtle?" "what is the best kill move against King Dedede?" you can visit the thread and find it...

Its much work for one person to do, but if we all make a little research or just tell something you noticed about basic data then it should be pretty easy

Oh yea, i skimed through that a while back when i wasnt a member yet... I must have missed it...:urg:
Everyone should read stickies more carefully.
The one and only fault with NintenJoe's guide is its length. It's not easy to read through the whole thing lol. (I almost did, I stopped at the "styles of Link" part).

As for the research thingy, I'm thinking we should convince all the ZSS mainers to play Link. Seriously, their analysis and research that they have is insane O_O. They break everything down in brawl, its nuts.

I'm personally a little against the idea of an official research thread. I think research of particular topics should have their own respective threads and not be compiled into one. It makes it more organized for discussion. Also because we've got quite a bit of sticky-managing on our hands already. :psycho:

Frankly, each topic should have its own thread where we can debate certain aspects of things and compare research. Maybe we can compile them all into one effective thread, but it would be reduced to extremely basic information so it doesn't go overlong.
The other thing is, what is there to discuss? Should Zair whiplash get its own topic? I don't think so; it's rather unimportant whether zair hitstuns them 2 frames or 3 at 0%. We already know that we can combo it; why bother putting that on its own?

Also, imo we have too many Official threads, and about half of them are stickied. We almost have too many sticky threads. :p

I didn't know where else to post this, but I found a glitch or something where I do a DACUS with a bomb. Sometime he just regulalry slides forward and throws the bomb up, but other times he throws it forward, then immediately after ward makes the animation of throwing a bomb upwards, but he's not holding a bomb.
I don't know if it's been discovered before...

*sigh*

.....

Well thankfully you didn't make a new topic about it.

First off, use the search function. This is old, very old.

Next, read the FAQ in this thread. The technique you speak of is called bombsliding. There's a whole section how to perform different types of them, plus video and written tutorials.

Again, thank you for not making a brand new topic about it. Just for that, I won't flame you.

Bomb Dash Attack Cancel

Learning Curve: ***
Application Difficulty: ***
Usefulness: *

Let me make a distinction right now. This is NOT the same as bombsliding. People use these terms interchangeably. This is wrong. A bomb DAC is using the DAC while holding a bomb in hand.

Sounds intriguing right? Well, it's not terribly difficult. What to do is shorthop, drop the bomb, then do a DAC. That's the standard explanation anyway. Well, that kind of explanation takes hours of practice before getting it down.

So here's what you really do. Take out a bomb first of all, and short hop. Now, don't drop the bomb until Link has reached the peak of his height. It's possible to drop the bomb while Link is still rising - don't do that. At the peak of his height with a short hop, drop the bomb. Now, as soon as you drop the bomb, fast fall. You will land before the bomb, and have about 1/4 of a second to input the DAC. Link will catch the bomb automatically while doing a DAC. This requires very fast fingers.

This move looks fancy and is rather fun, but it's not amazingly useful for the effort it requires. Even once mastered, using it in a match requires quite a bit of focus, and you won't get much reward. Getting to throw that bomb up or doing a reverse bombslide (explained soon) isn't much more damage. Still, it's unexpected.

Here's a video, at 1:24: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LPdG9bGq7iE
Hope that helps, blu link.
