need venue tho: i suggest the loft or one of those church things on hunter street (so close to backpackers + free buses)

it would be a great idea if people could be ****ed coming but it'd have to be in summer otherwise newcastle is hella boring

If anyone doubts the ability for a regional city to pull in a lot of numbers for a major, one only has to look at the US and it's Melee-FC series. Held in the middle of nowhere, close to the middle of the country, everyone came. It just takes a lot of planning and the right people backing it.

look I think its pretty obvious, if you hold a major melee tourney, and your names are tim and sam, and you have cao backing you then it'll easily break all attendance records so far.
and thats before we factor in jaz coming too!!!

I hope we can change it to both games

BTW, on another note
I'm wondering whether to continue with this December meet, as all the hype has been turned elsewhere and not many people have expressed interest...

a major in Newcastle would be good. We could even dig up some Smashers hiding outside of the spotlight in the HV

So my copy of Melee came in the mail today.

Spent all afternoon trying to unlock stuff, got nowhere :laugh:

But I'm getting pretty good. I don't want to brag, but I am probably the best Peach main in Adamstown =P

HV needs more meets, so I can get good at Melee (and Brawl too).

I'll have a meet in the afternoon of the 4th of November, or on the 5th for the whole day. Unless your schedules all disallow that. :(

If it's on the 5th, then I'll most probably be celebrating the end of exams with my schoolfriends, and so you probably couldn't stay at mine. However, Tom may have vacancy.

If it were on the 5th, then I'll have a party to attend in the evening... i assume it shouldn't run that late anyway?

and lol, Melancoly haven't you played Melee before? Well i guess that's okay. I haven't touched Melee for... umm... 2 years maybe? Definitely not since Brawl was released... but I don't mean to brag but I may just be the best peach main EVAR!!!! MWA HA HA HA!!!! lolz I hardly play brawl anymore.... so melee doesn't really register to me at all atm... >.>

okay, i know your probably still just getting over Rocky, but i am now releasing info about the possible December Meet

Proposed date is the 11th through to the 13th of December (Friday to Saturday).
The location is Nelson Bay, a holiday house with enough sleeping upsatirs for about 6 or more people, and at least 4 people downstairs.
Cost is nothing, except for food once we're there.
Transport can be arrabged, such as car pooling. I can definitely drive some people. If there are any other volunteers, raise your hands.
There is already a TV there, but more would be needed.
Plenty of opportunities for other stuff, such as beaching, walking, etc.

so, what do people think?

dw I've already got Sieg training me in Falcon, it's like I've already won. Don't stress too much there buddy. :3



The meet thing sounds good, especially since I almost certainly will not be able to make up the money for SQUAT.

I only need training from Tim so I can beat you by 4 stock instead of 3. I'm already planning what I'll spend your money on.

BTW meet sounds awesome, but maybe hold it at a different time to SQUAT to maximise attendance?
