Yeah for this situation its much more beneficial to have combined states due to the low activity this season.

There was a time where I didn't want to be ranked because I barely entered any tournies and I didn't do too well at them.

I didn't ask to not be ranked or anything but I knew I would be sad at my ranking cause it was going to be low (I was ranked 13th that season).

Then it was mentioned that Malcolm has come back to **** us all.

"So then that's top 5 already taken. That leaves 5 spots for the other players to take. People like Will and Deltacod, taking amazing wins by pushing their characters to their limits, missing rankings because there was only 5 spots left for the tons of other high level players in our region to fill. What are you going to tell them? Get better? **** that, they'll either switch to metaknight or give up and play marvel."

Another point he made was how we're catering to outside regions to show how **** we are or something, and then said that this is already a proven fact that we're the best region, so we should cater to ourselves more than to outside states/regions who'll look at the list and just agree that we're the best region.

That sums it, however the argument was pretty null for the most part. Both people started strong, but ended with low-end reasons. I didn't wanna say anything then, mainly because I just wanted to eat my food, but to make it short for now:

I feel we do NOT cater to our top 5 as much as people make it out to be. The point with Nairo was not that he was a TOP 5 player, but how he devoted himself to get there, which points out that people can do it if they put their minds to it.

When I hear things around the lines of "I missed the spot because of my character" or "I missed the spot because their are really good people in this area" I want to ask you who's fault is that? You play a game that gives you, what, 36 characters? Why lower the standards to cater to players who missed the list, rather then keep it the way it is now and have the people who put hard work on the spot they are now?

Think about this for a second before someone tries to reply. It was mentioned last season that I put X amount of effort in, (which I did, I devoted to get myself better last season) but I only made the honorable mentions list because of the other players having better wins. Now, it was not my fault they had better wins, but they had the ability to put themselves into the situation where they can grab those kinds of wins, therefore out placing me.

I could have just sat there and said "Damn, I worked hard this season, and I didn't make it. I should switch my main or QUIT" but what was really going through my head was "Damn, I have to work harder, because while I put in a lot of effort for 1 season, a lot of these people have been putting this kind of effort for over a year now."

I have this discussion with Wyatt all the time, and every time we head to a tournament. We talk about just issues I'm having, and how to improve. I know I am good, I don't need anyone to tell me other wise, but I can get better. I know I am doing well, but I know I can do better then what I am doing now. That's the difference. When I hear we cater to the higher end players, what courses in my mind is that "We don't, your just trying to cater to the lower end players to feel better about something that you COULD have done better on"

I been told this all the time. I can be happy with a C+ in something, but why when I can just do better and get an A in it. Put in more effort and time, for a longer period. Outplace other people who are trying to fight for the same spot that you are trying to grab. This is a game, and in the game you need to properly equip yourself to do better. If you play a hindered character, then do what is the best possible thing to do and pick up others.

It's competition, not a friendly casual game. Don't blame others for someone's inability to surpass others, but only yourselves for not taking the necessary steps to pass them. Everyone has access to the same material in this scenario, so use what you have been handed.
