Oh boy another DS model even after the recent version was released not too long ago.
I can't wait for the next one: DSi Redundancy :O
I know, right?
What the hell? They released the DSi a year ago today in Japan. This offers NOTHING new. They can't even advertise the crappy (in my opinion) extras this time. It's just lolbigger with some games/apps/whatever they are exactly that are clearly catering to an older audience. (Brain Age and Language training?
Really?)
My DS Phat is still working fine.
This.
DS Phat > all.
Lawl, costs more than a Wii.
Bahaha, I didn't even think about that.
Remember, the $220 is from yen to US conversion. The DSi costs ~$180 in Japan while it costs $170 in the US. I can't imagine them wanting to break the $200 barrier in the US.
I don't imagine they'd want to either, but even if they don't break the $200 barrier, it would have to be a little more than $20 cheaper in the US than in Japan...and that's a larger difference than 180 vs. 170.
Haha, I've still got the phat as well.
It's not really ironic if you check the color names, Wine Red, etc. It's clearly marketed toward a older "where did I put my glasses" audience.
Yeah...the more you look at it, the more it's obvious that that's what they're doing.
I just wish for once they'd release a console/handheld suited towards the people who
are used to be their fans for once.
My opinion of it? Slide a "o" between the two L's and that's what I think of this. Nintendo needs to release actual games if they want to see a profit rather than another hardware iteration. They listed their exciting holiday line up of "New super mario Bros and Wii fit plus". Really? Two games, one of which I hesitate to call a game. And last year was Animal Crossing and Wii music. C'mon Nintendo, you're better than this.
Unfortunately, I don't think they're better than that anymore...
But, I agree, it's pathetic how they've got no good software anymore. Their big releases are just about once a year, and they advertise the Wii series games ad nauseam.
You're right, last year was Animal Crossing and Wii Music. Wii Music is a
toy, Nintendo has admitted themselves multiple times.
Animal Crossing was Wild World put on the Wii with a few of the features from the original that had been missing. Oh, and a city that you can spend about 5 minutes in every time you play, max. They even ripped the freaking soundtrack from Wild World, for crying out loud.
I'm more worried than ever that Other M is going to turn out like crap. It doesn't seem like anything is going right with Nintendo anymore.
Next year will be a totaly new handheld.
At this rate, I highly doubt that. The last thing they want to do is announce a new handheld and have the sales of the handheld they JUST released slow down.
I don't see the sales lasting long anyways, but they'll probably end up waiting until late next year to announce a totally new handheld.
♪ Wow, and to think I didn't want the Nintendo DSi to be more like PSP. T_T †
Yep. I said the same thing when I saw the original DSi announced.
Ehh....if they brought back the GBA slot I'm sure they'd get a lot more sales and people would actually want to buy it and upgrade from there old phats or lites.
Yeah. I would consider buying it if it had a GBA slot again, but clearly the GBA is a thing of a past to them, and even in enlarging the system it's more important that they have non-game-related features than compatibility with another handheld.
(But I'm not getting into a GBA slot debate, I had enough of those when the DSi was released.)
Well that sucks for me, I guess. Luckily I didn't buy a DSi for full price.
I won't be picking this one up, I don't need 3 DSs anyways.
Hopefully next year they'll announce the next gen handheld.
A DSi Micro would be a stupid idea from Nintendo.
I can imagine a lot of people who bought the DSi are going to be pissed that they spent $170 only to have it one-upped in the next year.
LOL Nintendo LOST a HUGE chunk of my respect for this one. ROFL. They are not catering to ANYONE guys. You may think they are releasing this for people who have fat thumbs, or who can't see or are annoyed by small screens. In reality, they are trying to stop people from pirating their games, just as Sony just tried to do with the PSP go. YOU SUCK NINTENDO.
...Okay, I'm pretty down on Nintendo, but you're being paranoid.
Nintendo hates Homebrew/pirating/using their systems in any way they didn't explicitly intend, but they're definitely catering to an older demographic here.
