☯ bit.trip might easier to control on 3DS than the Wii. I hope there's two types of controls when bit.trip comes out.

Well, we know it won't be called Wii 2 or w/e. That's what we are just calling it for now.

What's everyone's take on Nintendo doing this with Zelda again? I thought by making Twilight Princess available for both GC and Wii kind of deterred its ability to function at its peak. Kinda like when a game is ported or is multiplatform. You can't have it excel completely, because it's not designed for one system.

I am of course waiting to get the 3ds, but I got to try it out. It is pretty fun. I had trouble finding the sweet spot though. Pilotwings was really fun, I wonder why more people don't have it.

Pilot Wings was amazing for me. I'll definitely pick that up when I get 3DS.

The only reason why people say that Sunshine is the worst of the 3D games (btw I will collectively group the both Galaxy games because I feel that Galaxy 2 is more of a DLC or extended edition of Galaxy 1 than an actual sequel) is because Galaxy and 64 both brought tremendous.... ehhhh.... progress (I keep trying to find the word but I can't find it so I'll use progress :/) to the series. When SM64 came out, well it's pretty obvious what had people raving over the game. The game had gone from a simple, single objective, side scroller, to a complex, multiple objective, 3D platformer in one single game (well if you don't count the Mario game the had for the Virtual Boy as some sort of game to iron the gap between them) that focused heavily on exploration. However, when the game went to Sunshine, it was already nothing gamers had seen before. Sure it had FLUDD and the game was fantastic, but it didn't really introduce anything gamers hadn't seen before that. Then when Galaxy came in, oh boy. I can even remember the nostalgia of first playing Galaxy at a friend's house when she got her Wii the first Christmas it came out. There wasn't really many good games at the time (Brawl being the only one that comes to mind and maybe Twilight Princess, but I hate Zelda so I can't remember if it came out before or after Galaxy) to showcase what the Wii could REALLY do. Galaxy just brought so ****ing much it mindblew me the first night I played it. Astonishing graphics like I had never seen come out of a Nintendo game, a complex physics system, half a billion levels to play through, beautiful music (or at least better than that of Sunshine imo) rivaling that of the music that came out for the N64 and maybe even trumping it, the ability to ride a Yoshi and do it for as long as you want (this is why I grouped both Galaxy games together), the ability to also play as Luigi which I think players had been wanting to do for a LONG time, and a compelling story to some degree.

TL;DR: 64 and Galaxy just both brought such tremendous changes for the Mario series that people just sorta forget about Sunshine who got left behind in terms of progress. I mean, you gotta admit when you look at the most progressive games (not even progressive Mario games) you think of 64 and Galaxy and not Sunshine. I also think that's why games like Majora's Mask and Ocarina of Time also have such praise because they literally brought the most to the series I think

Galaxy is pretty much the worst of the 3D games. And to me it is opposite. When I think of progress, I think 64 and then sunshine being the next step up. Galaxy was like a dumbed down Sunshine for me. Easy as ****, slow...nothing new to the table.

My problem is that Mario 64 more or less created a genre, and as such it got tremendously oversaturated over the years. Everyone remembers Banjo Kazooie of course, but for every one of those good games we had Gex and Glover and Buck Bumble. I just got so burnt out on collectathons. I don't care about progressiveness in video games, really, I just want to have fun. Mario 3 is a fun game. Mario 64 was fun to me, especially when it first came out. Galaxy-2 was REALLY REALLY fun. As such, it's my favorite. I am not even half the gamer I used to be, but the way Galaxy sort of hearkened back more to Mario Bros 3 rather than Mario 64 made me very happy. I love how it emphasized a more streamlined action platforming type of game rather than the more laid back and exploratory worlds of 64 and Sunshine.

In my universe, Nintendo made the mistake of having overwrought, somewhat convoluted stories in Sunshine and Galaxy 1. This stuff is just fluff that distracts from the game itself. Galaxy 2 is my favorite because the story is vastly simplified, and there is no illusion of exploration with that pointless world hub from Galaxy 1, it's simply pick a level and go. I love it.

Pshhh LT everyone already knows deep in their heart that Galaxy 2 is the best 3D Mario platformer with SM64 in a close second...

And that Sunshine is the worst :)

Anyone else find a dead pixel on their top screen? I found one during a loading screen, at least it is in the corner, but I hope more do not appear.

I dunno. I haven't played it in 10 years. I remember thinking it was horrible back then, I imagine it's only gotten worse.

Gex and Buck Bumble are both thoroughly mediocre at best. Play them again.
