I think the move where Cat and Dog are fighting with each other may be the stance-switch. Very funny.

THE SHOUTCASTING. I am not emotionally prepared to hear someone shoutcast Sandy vs Powdered Toast Man, but I am very excited.I can't wait for the pro nigel mains with the cargo throw, wavedashing to 0 to death combo
That... is incredibly clever if it is the case. Them literally battling it out to be the leading character? Very funny...I think the move where Cat and Dog are fighting with each other may be the stance-switch. Very funny.
I think there might be more to it than meets the eye. That's the only option that makes sense to me right now.
Something like that. I kind of wonder if there might be more than one move that might force the switch.I think the move where Cat and Dog are fighting with each other may be the stance-switch. Very funny.
Even the character page in the TV Tropes article for the game still uses her older render! This needs to be rectified ASAP.So, a couple things to note that weren't spot-lighted in the videos:
1. The actual game uses the updated render for April apparently (which I'm very thankful for because it looks a LOT better imo)...but that also makes the old one still being used on the main website look even more out of place.
2. One thing they didn't reference but I definitely noticed in the live gameplay videos was that the game has unique entrances for each character (SpongeBob is lowered down by that realistic hand that frequently appears on the show, Lucy appears out of a coffin, Nigel comes in riding a crocodile, etc.), and I like that; it adds an extra bit of charm to the game!
It REALLY does! The E3 instrumental is epic, especially when that male choir kicks in!Lifelight's E3 theme was great, and it was perfect for the reveal.
The vocal version itself...................is the lamest Smash opening ever and feels like discount KH intro.
It doesn't matter much anyway, since the Thornberrys travel throughout the world to film documentaries.I have been wondering about the Nigel clap move, I assume it's supposed to be like a crab or seal - I believe there are crabs and seals in Africa, right?
Yeah...personally speaking, Jellyfish Fields' song was pretty much typical aloha Spongebob stuff, but the Avatar stage had a pretty good one. What do you guys think about the audio for this game?
I don't mind the lack of VAs that badly, but the footage of Jellyfish Fields where the song takes a bit to ramp up makes the game feel really quiet. The sound effects aren't really popping like they should either, I hope there's time to at least work on that.
No VA is one of the only gripes I have with this game so far, but I recognize that it's largely an issue of budget/corporate politics, plus they'd probably need to get soundalikes for at least some of the characters, which would honestly be worse in the case of some. I'm not upset over it tbh. What do you guys think about the audio for this game?

Man, I know it's a pipe dream, but I REALLY hope we can get Patchy as an option for the announcer at some point. It'll probably never happen unless they already have Tom Kenny in the booth for whatever reason, but god dammit, lemme dream. It feels like the announcer is the best part of this, and I'm not even sure that he gets a really good pay in compensation.
I think the Nigel vs April doesn't sound too bad because Nigel make a lot of animal noise. With Lucy vs CatDog it feels way more quiet. What do you guys think about the audio for this game?

Did we really expect them to be given anything other than pocket lint for a budget? The fact the game is as visually appealing as it is and looks to play as good as it does is astounding. The team is putting in WORK. I hope this works out for them and if they CAN do a sequel or expand on the game as is after sales figures come through I really hope they get that chance to really make this game the best it can be. Passion projects like this don't come around in the main gaming market anymore. I want this team to do well.Honestly, you can just tell that Nick gave this peanuts for budget, while the devs want this to be super-polished.
Granted, we're likely to get patches after release, but until then it feels like the game is held back by the resources it has to work with in some aspects.
Given that, it's crucial that this thing gets as many first-day sales as possible (both physically and digitally, when applicable). Get enough people to look past the stigma of "disposable licensed Nick game" and see it as the gem it is.Did we really expect them to be given anything other than pocket lint for a budget? You probably have some mandela efffect stuff with R&S. According to this little tidbit i found, Ren and Stimpy didn't aired on Nick Latam outside of a 2002 September Special. With most of the airing of the show going to MTV, another Viacom-owned channel. You probably watched the show on some random channel, and your brain though it was Nickelodeon due to its association with the brand.Yep, I didnt watch Class of 3000 either. Still, I will say that most of the content that gets ommited over here are shows that failed horribly like the Jimmy´s head live action show (though the movie did air here.) or they are pushed on horrible schedules before disappearing from the face of the earth like Planet Sheen. As for Ren and Stimpy, that is a bit weird. I remember watching a lot of that show....
Jorel's Brother IS a latinamerican co-production, just not a mexican one (it's from Brazil)Not sure about Jorel´s brother but Villanous is a mexican production (makes me proud).
Also, you had FOP on Nick?! Or are we talking about the last and controversial seasons like over here?
Digimon was a very faithful interpreation of its original version. So much so that instead of getting that godawful "Digirap", we actually got the infenitely superior Butterfly. Unfortunately while most dubs tend to be far more faithful than its american counterparts (Sakura Cardcaptor, Saint Seiya, Sailor Moon) we still had to deal with 4Kids's bull**** here in Latam. As for the japanese shows, yep, Some japanese shows are really huge over here (especially Saint Seiya and Dragon Ball). But I would argue that some dubs oer here are better than the ones in the state. Special mention goes to the original digimon that is a completely different show in the USA and here.
Here is a list of channels were Ren and Simpy aired in Mexico, many of them with dates before 2002:You probably have some mandela efffect stuff with R&S. I never said Jorel´s brother was a mexican production. Also Man's Best Friend, the most infamous episode of the original show, DID get dubbed and aired on Latam, and probably it wasn't much of an issue due to it airing on MTV.

As for FOP, unfortunately i am talking about just the later seasons.

That was long debunked. It's a Foot Soldier's sais. The air grabbing and throwing seems like it's gonna be a very interesting mechanic in the game for me
I was pretty happy with this showing off of the gameplay, btw not sure if it was already mentioned, but you can see Raphael's Sais on the water tower
If they could somehow follow this game up with Nickelodeon vs. Cartoon Network that'd be a dream come true.I have to say I now wish this love were given to CN too. Hopefully this starts a trend. I love that they're advancing the platform fighter genre instead of just opting for a full Smash clone.
If CN follows this trend, who should they ask to help them make their own cool platform fighter? I know there are some nice indie platform fighters but I dont know which other companies have made some cool and successful ones.I have to say I now wish this love were given to CN too. I would be very happy if CN would try another time the Smash formula with an actual good developpers. CN Punch time explosion XL was pretty bad because it felt that every characters played the same with little thoughts about moveset. The roster was pretty great but I would gladly take a smaller roster like Nick all stars if it means more polished moveset. Oh and put the Eds this time because I don't understand why they weren't in the game.I have to say I now wish this love were given to CN too. Hopefully this starts a trend. I love that they're advancing the platform fighter genre instead of just opting for a full Smash clone.
Rivals and Rushdown/PM devs are busy... perhaps get the Brawl Minus team? I mean, Brawl Minus is still a thing too but it's not particularly active. If CN follows this trend, who should they ask to help them make their own cool platform fighter? I know there are some nice indie platform fighters but I dont know which other companies have made some cool and successful ones.
Prior to the showcase, sound design was my biggest concern about the game and, having now seen the showcase, I'm content with it. I'm not saying I am madly in love with how it sounds, but it is much better then I was worried about - and, as others have said, the game is full of life in animations and that helps make up for it.What do you guys think about the audio for this game?

I mean, Aether Studios are my fave non-Sakurai platform fighter devs out there right now, but they seem... very busy with other projects and expanding the Aether IP. I also love TowerFall, but Extremely OK Games has kind of moved into being more of a narrative-driven art games company and I enjoy their games in that direction even more, so... I don't know, honestly! If CN follows this trend, who should they ask to help them make their own cool platform fighter? I know there are some nice indie platform fighters but I dont know which other companies have made some cool and successful ones.
On the other hand, I can't say that I'd look forward to haters dunking on the characters we got for a few years just because duck-loving dad couldn't make the cut. If no VAs means more characters sooner, then so be it then.Honestly as much as dlc would be hype, I must say that I would also don't mind if this game don't have dlc and they just straight up go for a sequel with a bigger budget. They could try go get voice acting, alongside a bigger roster and maybe a story mode too.
Hard to say. I pre-ordered locally today and the shop said it was Oct 5 on their system as well, so this might be the actual release date.On another topic, it's kind of weird that they still haven't officially said that the game released in October 5th considering that's in less than a month and the big gameplay showcase today. Maybe this was a placeholder dates and it could be internally delayed to later in October or November?
Ironically the budget would HAVE to be bigger than Slap City's, with its bigger roster and use of licensed properties.Honestly, you can just tell that Nick gave this peanuts for budget, while the devs want this to be super-polished
Of course they can't do that. It costs money and permission to use voice clips.Overall for me I felt like it does feel low budget, especially with the lack of even voice clips (still don't get why they can't get some from the shows), but other than that I think it looks a bit more fun than I thought, the movement of especially April and Catdog appeal to me.The biggest thing I like being the air dashes, they feel good. So, pleased with those..
I guess I'm still a bit wondering about those tilt trumps (rock-paper-scissors). Tilts are so fast that unless you can predict someone doing one of them, it doesn't feel like it adds to the fight, maybe more randomness than anything really. So that to me might be a let down. It shakes things up, so I'll try to find ways to enjoy it, but I'm not sure it really adds to the competitive gameplay.
It feels low budget because it is. Even the devs have been saying this from the start. But its a great low budget effort if you ask me.Overall for me I felt like it does feel low budget, especially with the lack of even voice clips (still don't get why they can't get some from the shows), but other than that I think it looks a bit more fun than I thought, the movement of especially April and Catdog appeal to me.The biggest thing I like being the air dashes, they feel good. On that note I would love to see more crossover platform fighters given this kind of love. What companies/franchises do you guys think could have their own AllStar Brawl if they were given an equal amount of love and dedication?I have to say I now wish this love were given to CN too. Hopefully this starts a trend. I love that they're advancing the platform fighter genre instead of just opting for a full Smash clone.
