Yeah, uh, Rep also acknowledged that the game is coming out less complete then wanted. That's definitely an industry standard at this point, but I'd rather games release rocky then developers be treated inhumanly to get the game out perfect before the corporate-mandated deadline, I suppose...
I mean, wouldn't the better alternative overall is companies giving developers and workers more time and better wages and more time off when needed, rather than this current thing that is targeted at making as much money as possible off consumers? And I mean we know for a fact that under this current standards devs are still treated more times often than not unfairly, with crunch and budget cuts still being mandated and CEOs and corporations taking most of the profits still

The current thing of "release now fix later" is essentially a band aid on a big gash of a problem in the industry right now, and it kinda sucks how everyone's kinda just accepted it now as the standard

Alright now I can write a more welcoming post. Patrick is looking to be my main if I pick the game up. I love Aang's stage, Korra, Zim's stage and Spongebob's, the stages I would play the most on. Oblina is interesting. Would've loved a Kung Fu Panda/Poo rep since Nick supposedly owned the series at one point.

The game is ok.

Well, Wario Wario Wario Wario Wario Wario (if I'm not mistaken) got his wish, the characters have some sort of pre-fight dialogue, even though it's not much in terms of actual interaction.
give everyone their own home stage
they fight on random stages instead in arcade mode

No alts is the only thing that legitimately upsets me. I dont know if that's licensing nonsense getting in the way, but Mirror matches are a thing and those are bound to be confusing.

Other than that, another surprisingly solid licensed game. After Power Rangers Battle for the Grid and also the New hot wheels racing game, i hope we are entering a new age of actually good license games.

I mean, yes, that is very very very much the ideal! The ideal would also involve regulating the industry so that people don't suffer the incredibly toxic and life-destroying work environments that are also the standard.

I'm just saying that, in the current industry as it exists, I prefer the method that puts the burden on consumers having to deal with games being non-ideal at launch as opposed to the method that puts the burden on the employees...

They mentioned the game being available at midnight, but does someone know which time zone that is?
It should be whatever your Nintendo Switch Account is set to. Some countries do have one single timezone that everyone's account follows though, so it may unlock at 9PM or 3AM depending on how lucky/unlucky you get...

The bright side is that if this game does well, we could get an updated physical release that compiles everything later.

Just look at how Street Fighter V looked at launch and how it looked for the Champion Edition: night and day.

Suddenly, :ultpacman: and :ultsonic: 's alts don't seem so bad, huh.

Speaking of actually good licensed games, I'm looking forward to Shredder's Revenge next year, since the devs have free reign to make it the absolute most solid beat 'em up possible before it launches, and they did some solid work for Scott Pilgrim and TMNT on GBA in the past for Ubisoft. :dr^_^:

Seriously though, Tributes Games are living the life, all things considered.

Uh. Is Toph now just, uh, stretching? That's, uh, a taunt choice...
This game could use more taunt options on a single D-Pad button.

In terms of having more characters, I think we won't need to worry about reaching the hardware limit, although at the moment I just expect 40 max as the roster total (unless they can pleasantly surprise me). Right now it depends on the devs' preferences, but we might see more obvious fan wants depending on how long this goes for.

Somehow I feel like Richard Steven Horvitz, of all voice actors, would be the most down to return. He voices Moxxie from Helluva Boss and that's just a web series, not even a network cartoon. And he really loves voicing Zim.
I mainly want him for this in the event that Daggett can get in before Zim gets dubbed.

I wouldn't expect this game's roster to DOUBLE via DLC. I'd say 30 is a generous estimate; even if the game seriously blows up and somehow becomes the most popular competitive game ever made, I doubt we get more than 10 DLC characters.

We'll see. The devs could copypaste stuff from Smash to ease up development, so roughly two seasons would be a tad stingy for this when there isn't even the excuse of the director needing to rest after doing two games in a row.

I think 35 total seems like a fair compromise if we can get up to four seasons.

Would seem very weird. If you look at this game's supposed equivalents to Mario, Marth etc., they all have their own different twists on their basic concept.

And why do you still go "Sakurai needs to rest" when you know he's not actually going to take a break from game development, regardless of whether or not he starts working on Smash 6 after CP11?

FYI, with regards to Toph's taunt - apparently Toph and Korra both had major animation overhauls and the Xbox version is currently behind the times on a few of them... but only the Xbox version, somehow? Odd.

Additionally, the Arcade Mode having generic lines is a result of Nick not letting them write their own lines...

We also have a new banner, now with 100% more Nigel! SmashBoards isn't letting me put the image in my post, so here's a link to it.

I'm gonna be honest, why did they even bother implementing it if they couldn't put in real interactions and could only put in random quotes? It feels like the time spent doing that could have been spent elsewhere.

It sounds like the UI/dialogue-making was already created and someone just filled it out. Rep seemed personally surprised-by/unaware of a few of the lines, so I don't think Ludosity was involved in the line selection...

Ah, that's a bummer. Here's hoping they can change it. Though above all, they really gotta get color alts of some kind out.

I was considering downloading the game tonight, but I might wait and see how the patch situation looks by this weekend and get the physical instead.

Has anyone heard GET READY! GET READY! anywhere? Doesn't seem to be in the title screen and arcade mode has no credits sequence.

Because when I try to say otherwise outside of this thread I get ignored. I basically gave up trying to reason with people about that. :drshrug:

At any rate, some of the characters in here do already have their own distinct moves (when not sharing stuff like tackles) but definitely base some on others from Smash or even other fighting games if need be, either in mechanics or execution (Zim, in particular feels like a :ultbowserjr::ultrosalina: mash-up in some areas, with the added caveat of hitting the assist character to influence their movement). Other characters borrow very little but play originally otherwise (e.g. Nigel, Oblina).

Shame, hopefully the line issue will be fixed, it's just a bunch of text anyway...

That said, it's good to know Nigel won't be conspicuously be left out of the key art. And I'm surprised that Donnie and the Gromble have in-game art at all.

The OST has been posted:

At timestamp (15:19) there is a song, possibly two songs because there's a break at 15:48, that don't correlate with any known stages. I would say it's just for sports mode, but the first one has a very specific thematic flair, starting with a funeral dirge (the cemetery theme is later, so it's not that). I can't tell if the second one is a continuation of the same song, but it's much more "retro video game"-styled, which doesn't really fit a sports mode either. They seem too short to be for stages, but it's still interesting.

I've been watching a lot of the streams for the game. It's too bad no one's focusing on Korra XD, but at least I got to see quite a bit of what some characters can do.

I'll look to hear how people on this thread find the game tomorow. (for those who can get it)

Classic mode failure I believe

Oh my GOD Glove World's music is depressing. Like I know we heard it already in Sandy's showcase, but holy ****, hearing this without any sound effects or narration over it makes me feel like a clown on anesthesia.

Yeah, all of these songs are actually pretty good imo - except for Glove World. What was my most anticipated stage is now the one I'll be playing least, simply because it's music sucks all of the ass.
Yeah, everyone agrees this song is plain rubbish. Not even The Gromble would wish to use this as a torture device. The devs really need to fix this one thoroughly.

Over there! (Note: Not a 100% guarantee)
one small grievance but I would have adored Ren and Stimpy using this render as the default
08E06A7F-4194-4776-98DC-C7DC084F32E5.jpeg

both because it’s undoubtedly the best they’ve looked in 3D (the current render is too on~model in my opinion,) but also upkeeping the running joke of Ren and Stimpy being all buddy~buddy in promotional material hiding the psychosis beneath.
