49ers need Delanie Walker back though. Outside of Gronk and Hernandez, those two are the best TE Duo out there. Walker is arguably their second best receiver behind Vernon. Ted Ginn...it's not looking good. He went down with a knee injury and is vital to special teams.

Oh well. I can still go 3-1. Let's go Giants.
Burn in hell.

Speaking of people who can burn in hell.

WHY THE ONSIDE KICK SO EARLY

ALSO WAY TO FAIL THE ONSIDE KICK WHEN IT WAS ACTUALLY A THING YOU SHOULD BE DOING

TWO FUMBLES GRANT REALLY? TWO FUMBLES?

EIGHT DROPS GUYS REALLY? EVEN JAMES CONCRETEHANDS STARKS REALLY? EVEN EVERYONE THAT SHOULDN'T BE DROPPING PASSES AT ALL BECAUSE THAT'S WHY THEY GOT HERE IN THE FIRST PLACE REALLY?

HEY DEFENCE THAT'S A GREAT JOB LETTING INTENTIONALLY MEDIOCRE PLAYS MEANT TO DO NOTHING BUT KILL CLOCK BLOW YOU OUT FOR A FIRST AND GOAL

I FEEL LIKE I'M TAKING CRAZY PILLS

okay I'm done

Since Denver and Houston are out of the AFC race I no longer care who wins. Go Giants. Hopefully Eli Manning will play hot in Candlestick.

I want the Giants to get the **** beaten out of them and otherwise I don't care what happens.

@Orbo: They're both valid spellings. Defence is the British, defense is the PERVERSE AMERICAN OFFSHOOT. Canada uses both spellings of most words interchangeably.

I truly believe they did the onside kick early in the game, because they were SCARED of Eli and his offense. High risk, High reward move.

@boredone: feh. I'm pretty sure they were more scared of their own defence, and the game proved they had every ****ing reason to be. The likely motivation was that they wanted to get a back to back drives going and get points on the board to compensate for their weak defence and establish momentum early on.

But it was still stupid.

It still would have been stupid. Just because a dumb decision has a potential for reward doesn't make it smart when it pays off, it just makes you lucky.

Elli is just unstoppable. Just like his citizen eco drive watch.

And hey, Refs helped GB get 14 of their points :troll: Their offense got shut down.

Rodgers was off and Donald Driver was the only one, occasionally, capable of holding onto the ball. I don't like how everyone is already putting the Giants in the super bowl because they want the rematch, San Fran beat a team that was actually playing it's game and everyone jumps on the Giants hype train for beating a clearly out of rhythm Green Bay.

Not saying the Giants can't win either but I feel like they're another team like Dallas that gets disproportionate attention, at least by this time of the year since Rex isn't dominating the New York news constantly <_<

I'm hoping for a Pats and Giants Superbowl rematch. Except this time they get owned by the Pats.

I'm pretty sure the 49ers have never lost in a super bowl. Their 5-0 going into them. So yeah, just a thought if they were to beat the Giants.

Packers were cocky, that is the problem. They had only lost once since they had to go into playoff mode BEFORE the 2010 playoffs even started. They said they had not envisioned the possibility of going home as early as they did. And sometimes you forget that can happen if you rarely lose. Every other team realizes how real losing can be. The Packers didn't.

I would like to see the patriots fail and the Giants win it all.

That's only the best outcome for me. Yet all season every outcome I've wanted never happened. So I have little hope of it happening.

But I still am hopeful.

No one would have expected Alex Smith to win a shootout with Drew Brees either, NE has that same kind of imbalance with defense that can allow it to happen

Yeah and that around the time they found themselves within the Spygate scandal.

And now that has tarnished their reputation. I don't think that's something they'll ever wash off. It's a stain that will remain with them for a long time.

automatic bias against you in mafia games for all time ever

EDIT: Back on topic, Alex Smith is decent. He's finally playing alright but y'know, I wouldn't call one good season a determining factor.

My dad calls Brady retiring after this year. I thought he was nuts. Turns out he's serious... I can't imagine the Pats without Brady as their starting QB... And that actually goes for a lot of teams, like Manning for the Colts (LOL 2-14) or less so but still kinda Brees for the Saints. It's funny how QBs can just become staples for some teams...

Thats because people look first and foremost at QBs.

If you put Ray Rice and the ravens in that sentence, most people wouldn't have the samemindset

What?

Man, /sp/ is always blowing up about that 18-1 and that scandal.

I'm fairly certain that not everyone there is a Jets fan.

There are a lot of bitter fans of bad teams that bring it up a lot, pretty much everyone else has moved on. I wouldn't accuse Jets fans of being particularly salty about it, they have so many things to be salty about within their own team that I don't know how much salt they have left for everyone else...

I had completely forgotten about the whole thing and I hate the Pats.

The thing that frustrates me the most in predicting NFC is the Packers/Saints defense. So inconsistent. They need turnovers to seal their deals if the offense struggles even a little bit (though Packers offense is quite broken), and both offenses could easily turn the ball over on a single mistake. The Packers' lack of a run game also makes me hesitate, but not too much.
Went back to check on my playoff predictions and raged at this. ._.

Looks like I at least got the AFC mostly right (only wrong on the Bengals). I'm the only one here who picked the Broncos wild card game right >.> /sillypride

Besides the Denver/Pittsburgh game my AFC predictions have been perfect so far.

As for the NFC, not so much. I had Green Bay winning it all, but at least I called for the 49ers to make it to Championship Sunday.

I would like to see a 49ers vs. Ravens Superbowl. I want to see a low scoring, defensive slugfest with interceptions and fumbles. I want to see good defense however, and not garbage play for offense like over/underthrown passes, or even dropped passes in open territory.

A Giants vs. Patriots rematch would be interesting as well.

Overall, I'm content with any team that makes the Superbowl.

As far as predictions (different from what I WANTED to happen, in some cases) the only one I've gotten wrong was the Steelers/Broncos game.

I'm thinking the Pats and 49ers win this week. Although I'd like to see the Ravens beat the Pats because I think the 49ers would have a better chance, despite what happened in the regular season. And I wouldn't be mad if the Giants made it either. They're alright.

Giants - Patriots Superbowl. Before the season, I was that guy with the Green Bay - Pittsburgh Superbowl rematch. But as the post-season started, I had the Giants making it to the NFC Championship. First Take is a little interesting now, they were debating about if you'd rather have Eli or Peyton at this point. And while Peyton is great in the regular season, he is a pedestrian 9-10 in the playoffs while Eli is a lot more clutch than his older brother. I never would have thought there would be a day where I would want Eli as my QB more than Peyton, haha, but I think that is where I stand.

Giants - Patriots Superbowl, please. We already had the Harbowl in the regular season. Eli with a chance to cement his legacy as one of the best ever, not a fluke 07 run, and beating Tom Brady TWICE in the Superbowl? And being considered better than his brother? He lived in his shadow for so long

And then you go to Tom Brady. His 5th Superbowl, an incredible feat. 3 wins. A chance to get a 4th win, and get redemption from when Eli Manning and friends ruined what would have been considered the best NFL team EVER.

As Skip Bayless said, the 49ers-Ravens stories are just baby stories compared to Giants-Patriots.

People always used to call me crazy because I said Eli was better, as well as Brady even before 07 when he got comparable weapons. Peyton is super human phenomenal during the regular season, but you can't choke that consistently and be greatest of all time in my eyes, Peyton is an insanely good player with zero clutch factor...kinda like the opposite of Tim Tebow...

I never really got why Jets fans would hate the Giants and vice-versa. Are there really "city-wars" within the same state within fans? Like if you flip to the other team in the post-season you get clowned on? I'm only used to Seattle having one sports team so the dilemma has never come up. AKA I always just envisioned if I lived in New York/New Jersey I'd root for both teams since they're in different conferences

I will be a sad panda if It's 49ers/Ravens. It is sad when most the talk would be on the head coaches and not the QB's.

I never understood this either when Steelers fans would give me flak for being an Eagles fan. Apparently these city wars exist.
