Is this a bad time to ask everyone what Mario characters they want in smash cause it’s Mario day? Or indeed what mothers they want in smash cause it’s Mother’s Day?
Ashley, Fawful, Geno and Captain Syrup.

That aside, nothing tugs strings more than an implication of something you want to happen may be happening or may be just nothing.
Obviously grain of salt and whatnot, but man, it sucks when it's something you want to happen and it just as likely might be nothing at all or something different.

Well, TBH, I'm not the most knowledgable on WarioWare, but I know at least three things about 5-Volt: first, she's canonically a gamer, so if you're one of those people who wants a character with a moveset that references old-school Nintendo games she's an option for that (though admittedly 9-Volt would probably be a better choice for that). Second, she apparently has some sort of shadow monster thing she can use in Get It Together, which could maybe be used for Specials. Lastly, she canonically lifts weights. I'm not sure how relevant that last one is, but I figured I'd mention it.

Waluigi. It’d be a meme come true.

Also Geno, just to finally get him in here. If it doesn’t happen next time it’ll probably never happen.

with a bunch of "Woody vs. Xenanort"-style cutscenes where you're supposed to think these cute characters getting mad at the darkness is badass, but it's just laughable. Unless you're 12, then you think it's da coolest
Any examples? It's a standard story not different from most Nintendo games. Unless you mean that a serious story and not an ironic one.

Geno and possibly Nabbit.

Also hoping Piranha Plant not getting cut

I don't think Okano is working at SEGA anymore, is he? Would be very weird if he happened to know anything about this.

That said, SEGA vs. Capcom would be absolutely awesome but I do also think it'd be really interesting to observe - I feel like this falls into a really interesting situation where a large chunk of the stuff people ask for would probably never make it in, so I wonder how an actual SvC roster would be received with that in mind

Toad (with Toadette as an echo)
King Boo
Pauline
Lakitu (as a Bowser Jr. semiclone?)
Nabbit

And as for extended verse Mario friends...

Dixie Kong

I would be shocked if this is anything other than overpriced Street Fighter 6 Avatar cosmetics or something else along that line.

Yeah, it was mentioned in his bio that he is a former Sega concept artist. Sure, it's not impossible for former staff to possibly know stuff or have some idea, but taking it with a grain of salt is still necessary. And even then, even if he does know something, it could still be for something different, like say Costumes for SF6 or whatnot.

And yeah, despite what some people think, I can see a Sega vs Capcom roster being very different than what people have in mind. I mean, it can go either way since Sega is trying that whole marketing campaign regarding their older franchises, which a Sega vs Capcom can both benefit the campaign and benefit from it. But still, best to keep those expectations in check, especially for a first title.

Personally, Toad for sure. Waluigi and Geno for the fans. King Boo for the awesome Factor and Goomba for a mook/wtf pick.

wait what's this about mothers day? It's in May...

Yep, it’s Mother’s Day in the UK. The USA has to wait two months for their Mother’s Day.

I’m not really too sure. Nia is a decent candidate, but I feel like she fits better as an assist trophy, and also in her XC2 design.

For Mario Characters:

I would like a Dark Bowser Alt and Dry Bowser alt, that both change the Fire Colors.

For Actual Characters, Geno is very Cool, and Waluigi is fine, would be interesting to see how they Implement his Lanky body and weirdness. for any Mario Adjacent series, Ashley is cool, but if she stays a Mii Costume and Assist that's alright

Mario also has Characters I'm actively against becoming playable in Paper Mario and Pauline for reasons. I don't usually mind what characters get into Smash, but I do not want to see those 2 as playable Characters, but for people that do want those 2 in the game, keep cheering them on since everyone has different interests and such

For Mothers:

There's not really alot of Mothers in gaming I think. I would have said Chun-Li since she did adopt Adopt Li-Fen, but Li-Fen considers Chun-Li her Big Sister, not her Mom

So for me, the Only option is either Jun Kazama from Tekken, or you can go with Cooking Mama, and both aren't that Realistic, especially Jun.

Fully anticipating that Sega and Capcom collab rumours will only end up with overpriced sonic avatar costume crud in SF6, but a man can dream all the same...

I do also notice you're quite clearly trying to make my argument very very different here. If you really tried to boil down my argument to "he's a different person" and that's it, you didn't really read into exactly why it didn't work. Why they don't combine Ganondorf with Ganon's skills. Or anything like that. He is nothing like the other Zelda characters, who exist entirely on a different design philosophy. You could even say the fact he was created as a clone first in mind is exactly why he'll never get that kind of overhaul. The others did because they functioned on a different design level. They all used skills from different people under the same name, had it hard made up, or even more specifically, were a combination of more than one person. A composite. Ganondorf, unlike the others, was never designed as a composite character. Just a clone that also further became more accurate to Ganondorf's portrayal... in the games that star the same person, anyway. Ganondorf in TOTK functions quite differently from the other three Ganondorfs. Thus, him being used to overhaul the current one has no real chance because it doesn't fit the mold. Being lightly referenced? Could happen. Being a Spirit? Probably more likely. Being a separate character? Definitely more likely than some illogical overhaul that destroys the core of the character(and if Link is any indication, even a more minor overhaul like that was proven to be a bad idea).

At the end of the day, the name of a second Ganondorf is irrelevant. Casuals will recognize him immediately once they simply play him and see his design. They know it's a different take on the character. It's not even a matter of being a different person or not in that particular case. The only actual challenge is a good name. It's still more likely than some overhaul. Since that goes completely against how Smash works in practice. He's a cool design, but too different. He's pretty much the equivalent of SS Link here; nothing that can clearly be used to properly update Ganondorf anyway while not changing his core. And nobody's core was ever changed in the history of Smash. Expecting it now is ultimately a fun dream.
In the context of Smash, it doesn't matter at all that each Ganondorf is a reincarnation of the same person whereas the Links and Zeldas are always different people. Smash treats all of them the same—as iterations of the same character. Even Link's BOTW overhaul was not that substantial, and mostly changed his aesthetics; the only exceptions were his lack of a tether grab and his remotely detonated bombs, which is way less changes than people expected. Also, I don't know why you're so against Link's portrayal in Ultimate being solely BOTW... this is blatantly who Link is now, to a huge amount of people. His green tunic even remains in his alts, and Young/Toon Link remain in the game, so we've got everything covered. The presence of an exclusively green-clad adult Link is just an extravagant request based on on the Zelda series' (and as a result, SSB's) precedent.

Also, I feel like you didn't even read my other post because I thoroughly explained how TOTK Ganondorf can remain virtually the same as Falcondorf, with a few aesthetic updates to match the new game and very few moveset changes (literally two throws would change, which wasn't even a 100% certain suggestion). There's no need to have two Ganondorfs at all, it'd be straight up weird and a waste of resources. No character gets this treatment unless they're a huge deal to their franchise (so Mario, Link and Samus having different versions makes sense), much less an alternate version that has a totally unique moveset... ZSS is the only one and her circumstances are very special. And I don't think TOTK Ganondorf should get in as a semiclone either, because he straight up is the Ganondorf of his game and doesn't exist alongside another. His art style, age, status, etc. aren't different enough to include him as a separate person on the CSS, like Young/Toon Link and Sheik, whose differences to their original partners more than justify their separate presence. He's literally just Ganondorf from a more recent game. Including him would be like including both OOT and TP's Links as different characters, which didn't (and wont) happen. And don't repeat the "But TOTK Ganondorf is too different from the current Smash Ganondorf!" point because... we got OoT and TP Ganondorfs mostly sharing the same moveset in Smash. One is a floating mage and the other is a grounded swordfighter. Yet Smash portrays them very similarly, almost identically. So TOTK Ganondorf can fit perfectly in the moveset with a few minor adjustments like the ones I suggested before.

Is this a bad time to ask everyone what Mario characters they want in smash cause it’s Mario day? Or indeed what mothers they want in smash cause it’s Mother’s Day?
Pauline, Toad, Toadette/Peachette, Waluigi, King Boo... Mario has plenty of great options, and Paper Mario isn't one of them :p half joking

As for Mothers, I can't think of any gaming mothers aside from (technically) Rosalina. Who already is in Smash. Also I must be missing something because I'm sure Mother's Day is sometime in May... is it different for Americans or what?

Samus is a mother... but she's also already in Smash.

And yeah while Father's Day is celebrated on the same day for the US and UK, Mother's Day is celebrated two months earlier in the UK than the US.

Snake should be in Smash Bros.

1710110992043.png

No, I mean the actual snake.

1710110952629.jpeg

Yeahhhhhh.
An assist trophy of it would be cool, where the Snake is basically a wall/soft-platform entity that's contstantly moving and collecting dots to increase its length. Heck, I wouldn't mind a Snake stage where it's the only platform (It'd probably be a lot longer and move slower in this version lol). Sounds like a great chaotic casual stage.

If Rhythm Heaven is part of the Mazza Extended Verse, then there should be a Mr. G&W-like character with their moveset based on the minigames.
Oddly enough, that's more what Link was. Mr. Game & Watch was a pretty unique case of a species essentially fused into one moveset. Link however is a combination character of more than one Link into a moveset.

I'm not sure what Mazza would mean, so I don't know if you mean a specific character with alternate versions or more of a species combined?

That's how Mario was nicknamed in a UK Unofficial Nintendo magazine.

Ah. Still, I'm not sure what you're asking for in regards to the moveset. Do you mean taking a character who has multiple versions and fusing them into one moveset, or what are basically a species and throwing them together?

...To be fair. Mr. Game & Watch is a very unique case that has never been repeated(mainly due to never having a single situation in any way).

Unfortunately, I don’t think mine are particularly likely, but these are the Mario characters I’d be most excited for:

Goomba
Goombella
Wart
King Boo
Dry Bowser (using Melee Bowser’s moveset)

I just beat my first playthrough of Triangle Strategy and thought it was a lot of fun. I must have done something wrong because I got what seemed like the bad ending but there’s a New Game+ and it seems like the game has a ton of replay value with all the different routes you can take.

While I don’t think she’s particularly likely, I think Frederica Aesfrost would be a really interesting character for Smash. She’s a pyromancer that has a lot of pretty cool abilities that could translate well.

Heres just a general overview of some of her skills. Not really a fleshed out moveset but it helps show the general idea. Mild spoilers if you don’t want to know specifics on her skills.

You don’t wake up one day and decide your next RPG is just playing Golf.
