Ashley, Fawful, Geno and Captain Syrup. Is this a bad time to ask everyone what Mario characters they want in smash cause it’s Mario day? Or indeed what mothers they want in smash cause it’s Mother’s Day?
Well, TBH, I'm not the most knowledgable on WarioWare, but I know at least three things about 5-Volt: first, she's canonically a gamer, so if you're one of those people who wants a character with a moveset that references old-school Nintendo games she's an option for that (though admittedly 9-Volt would probably be a better choice for that). Second, she apparently has some sort of shadow monster thing she can use in Get It Together, which could maybe be used for Specials. Lastly, she canonically lifts weights. I'm not sure how relevant that last one is, but I figured I'd mention it.go on

Don't tell me what to do!!Ignore this
Waluigi. It’d be a meme come true.Is this a bad time to ask everyone what Mario characters they want in smash cause it’s Mario day? Or indeed what mothers they want in smash cause it’s Mother’s Day?
Any examples? It's a standard story not different from most Nintendo games. Unless you mean that a serious story and not an ironic one.with a bunch of "Woody vs. Xenanort"-style cutscenes where you're supposed to think these cute characters getting mad at the darkness is badass, but it's just laughable. Unless you're 12, then you think it's da coolest
Geno and possibly Nabbit. Is this a bad time to ask everyone what Mario characters they want in smash cause it’s Mario day? Or indeed what mothers they want in smash cause it’s Mother’s Day?
I don't think Okano is working at SEGA anymore, is he? Would be very weird if he happened to know anything about this.Ashley, Fawful, Geno and Captain Syrup.

That aside, nothing tugs strings more than an implication of something you want to happen may be happening or may be just nothing.
Obviously grain of salt and whatnot, but man, it sucks when it's something you want to happen and it just as likely might be nothing at all or something different.

I would be shocked if this is anything other than overpriced Street Fighter 6 Avatar cosmetics or something else along that line.Ashley, Fawful, Geno and Captain Syrup.

Yeah, it was mentioned in his bio that he is a former Sega concept artist. Sure, it's not impossible for former staff to possibly know stuff or have some idea, but taking it with a grain of salt is still necessary. And even then, even if he does know something, it could still be for something different, like say Costumes for SF6 or whatnot.I don't think Okano is working at SEGA anymore, is he? That said, SEGA vs. Capcom would be absolutely awesome but I do also think it'd be really interesting to observe - I feel like this falls into a really interesting situation where a large chunk of the stuff people ask for would probably never make it in, so I wonder how an actual SvC roster would be received with that in mind
Personally, Toad for sure. Waluigi and Geno for the fans. King Boo for the awesome Factor and Goomba for a mook/wtf pick.Is this a bad time to ask everyone what Mario characters they want in smash cause it’s Mario day? Or indeed what mothers they want in smash cause it’s Mother’s Day?
maybe your Mother’s DayPersonally, Toad for sure. Waluigi and Geno for the fans. King Boo for the awesome Factor and Goomba for a mook/wtf pick.
wait what's this about mothers day? It's in May...
I’m not really too sure. Nia is a decent candidate, but I feel like she fits better as an assist trophy, and also in her XC2 design.Or indeed what mothers they want in smash cause it’s Mother’s Day?
For Mario Characters:Is this a bad time to ask everyone what Mario characters they want in smash cause it’s Mario day? Or indeed what mothers they want in smash cause it’s Mother’s Day?
In the context of Smash, it doesn't matter at all that each Ganondorf is a reincarnation of the same person whereas the Links and Zeldas are always different people. Smash treats all of them the same—as iterations of the same character. Even Link's BOTW overhaul was not that substantial, and mostly changed his aesthetics; the only exceptions were his lack of a tether grab and his remotely detonated bombs, which is way less changes than people expected. Also, I don't know why you're so against Link's portrayal in Ultimate being solely BOTW... this is blatantly who Link is now, to a huge amount of people. His green tunic even remains in his alts, and Young/Toon Link remain in the game, so we've got everything covered. The presence of an exclusively green-clad adult Link is just an extravagant request based on on the Zelda series' (and as a result, SSB's) precedent.
I do also notice you're quite clearly trying to make my argument very very different here. If you really tried to boil down my argument to "he's a different person" and that's it, you didn't really read into exactly why it didn't work. Why they don't combine Ganondorf with Ganon's skills. Or anything like that. He is nothing like the other Zelda characters, who exist entirely on a different design philosophy. You could even say the fact he was created as a clone first in mind is exactly why he'll never get that kind of overhaul. The others did because they functioned on a different design level. They all used skills from different people under the same name, had it hard made up, or even more specifically, were a combination of more than one person. A composite. Ganondorf, unlike the others, was never designed as a composite character. Just a clone that also further became more accurate to Ganondorf's portrayal... in the games that star the same person, anyway. Ganondorf in TOTK functions quite differently from the other three Ganondorfs. Thus, him being used to overhaul the current one has no real chance because it doesn't fit the mold. Being lightly referenced? Could happen. Being a Spirit? Probably more likely. Being a separate character? Definitely more likely than some illogical overhaul that destroys the core of the character(and if Link is any indication, even a more minor overhaul like that was proven to be a bad idea).
At the end of the day, the name of a second Ganondorf is irrelevant. Casuals will recognize him immediately once they simply play him and see his design. They know it's a different take on the character. It's not even a matter of being a different person or not in that particular case. The only actual challenge is a good name. It's still more likely than some overhaul. Since that goes completely against how Smash works in practice. He's a cool design, but too different. He's pretty much the equivalent of SS Link here; nothing that can clearly be used to properly update Ganondorf anyway while not changing his core. And nobody's core was ever changed in the history of Smash. Expecting it now is ultimately a fun dream.
Pauline, Toad, Toadette/Peachette, Waluigi, King Boo... Mario has plenty of great options, and Paper Mario isn't one of themIs this a bad time to ask everyone what Mario characters they want in smash cause it’s Mario day? Or indeed what mothers they want in smash cause it’s Mother’s Day?
No, that's when American Mother's Day happens, fogbadge is Scottishis it different for Americans or what?
Samus is a mother... but she's also already in Smash. As for Mothers, I can't think of any gaming mothers aside from (technically) Rosalina. Who already is in Smash. Also I must be missing something because I'm sure Mother's Day is sometime in May... is it different for Americans or what?
Shoutout to the dude who looked at the task of creating Mario sports games for the Gameboy and said “Oh, this is 100% JRPG material.”New games on NSO.
TBF, wasn't Camelot known for JRPGs at the time?Shoutout to the dude who looked at the task of creating Mario sports games for the Gameboy and said “Oh, this is 100% JRPG material.”
Oddly enough, that's more what Link was. Mr. Game & Watch was a pretty unique case of a species essentially fused into one moveset. Link however is a combination character of more than one Link into a moveset. If Rhythm Heaven is part of the Mazza Extended Verse, then there should be a Mr. G&W-like character with their moveset based on the minigames.

I'm not sure what Mazza would mean, so I don't know if you mean a specific character with alternate versions or more of a species combined?
Yes, before making Mario sports game (and even before Golden sun) they were working on Shining force with Sega.TBF, wasn't Camelot known for JRPGs at the time?
Ah. Still, I'm not sure what you're asking for in regards to the moveset. Do you mean taking a character who has multiple versions and fusing them into one moveset, or what are basically a species and throwing them together? That's how Mario was nicknamed in a UK Unofficial Nintendo magazine.
Unfortunately, I don’t think mine are particularly likely, but these are the Mario characters I’d be most excited for:Is this a bad time to ask everyone what Mario characters they want in smash cause it’s Mario day? Or indeed what mothers they want in smash cause it’s Mother’s Day?
You don’t wake up one day and decide your next RPG is just playing Golf.TBF, wasn't Camelot known for JRPGs at the time?
You know what Tennis games need nowadays? Hitting the Tennis ball with Blizzards, Poltergeists, Tidal Waves and Meteor showers. You don’t wake up one day and decide your next RPG is just playing Golf.
Unless you’re a genius like that guy at Camelot.![]()
