I’m happy that Advance Wars got a new title

Yeah, me, too.
Though I still hope for a brand new game (i.e. not a remake) to come after at some point.
Hopefully all the delays didn't hurt the current release enough to discourage them. It remains to be seen if WayForward both wants to do and would be allowed by IS to do a non-remake.

I think that as far as AW in Smash goes, a continuation of the series beyond the remake would probably be necessary in order to get a PC. But if we do get a new release then AW could be in a stronger position than ever before.

I don't really have a most wanted newcomer list for the next game, I had 5 for Ultimate, but 3 of them became reality

here was my most wanted for Ultimate

The only things I really want in the next game, DLC or not, is Tails and the return of Kazuya, nothing else really matters to me.

If Paper Mario was in Smash, ideally I would want to take elements from all the games rather than choose one basis over the other (even though Nintendo would probably want to use the later games as a basis, but that’s besides the point).

I’m just sad that Alph was reduced to an alt for Olimar, because I could totally see Alph being an Echo Fighter of Olimar who uses a single Rock Pikmin (and just the one, instead of three Pikmin) that weighs as much as three Pikmin for Olimar.

It was never said iirc, but it can be assumed that time constraints played a part because that's the usual reason for stuff not getting in.

Ignore this, the original Source Gaming post was updated.

Though worth noting it was "Rock Pikmin if possible" not "will use it for sure". Rock Pikmin were never a guarantee at any point either.

So the wiki is misleading a bit, since it implies it was a core idea, not a mild hopeful thought.

Alph could've been an Echo but no Rock Pikmin. It's a minor semantics thing, though.

To comment more on Ultimate;

Time constraints isn't the full picture for Pikmin & Alph. The series was on hiatus, and there was at most one new Pikmin idea. That means it requires more work than others Echoes and the series isn't that active, so it's basically a lower priority. Time constraints probably played a part too.

Shadow at least has the excuse of "Sega didn't say yes.", if he was considered. He tends to be decently used around that point, and the Sonic series didn't lose relevance at any point(or even had a minor thing, like how MegaMan had a crossover comic around the time he was added, making it an overall active product. Not just re-releases).
