I would make a very strange selection for "Smash Deluxe" or whatever. I think they should add someone from Atari. And Mortal Kombat. And GTA. Yes. If its a vehicle you want, there are a few options, but they all have pilots.
If you want a motorbike, Mach Rider or Excitebiker would work

If you want like, a battle vehicle, Sophia 3rd from Blaster Master is something else that can work, piloted by Alex who can also go in and out of Sophia

All of these are good. I also kind of like SV-001 (Metal Slug), Hornet (Daytona USA), Octane (Rocket League), the Vic Viper (Gradius), and the 1942 plane. Sure.

if they have to make it in Smash I'd rather see them not have the typical FE Counter as Down-B but use the Emblem Ring to summon an Emblem who act similar to an AT for a brief period of time. if the Emblem gets attacked and beaten by the opponent it can't be summoned again for the rest of the game. Maybe it would be 3 different Emblems cycled each down B.

I'd rather not use any existing playable FE characters or ATs for Alear's Emblem so I'd pick Celica (Magic user some healing), Sigurd (horseback fighter), and Eirika and Ephraim (dual fighters)

This could work too yeah. I basically see Alear as inevitable. The rumors of Engage where always coupled with a FE4 remake, frankly I don't see Sigurd make it before Alear. But since Sigurd is quite a sigfinicant Emblem (used by the mother of Alear) him being coupled with Alear seems likely. Leaf too maybe? And Lyn cause of popularity, tho I could see her being a newcomer on her own too.

Still, another version of Alear could also happen but that one is spoilers heavy.

Also about Engage being "worth" getting... well depends on your tastes? It's far less story heavy than Three Houses, has one straight path, and focuses more on FE fundamentals and new gimmicks as Emblems and breaking. Gameplay wise I see yes definitely worth it. If you look for a deep story like Three Houses / Path of Radiance / Radiant Dawn, maybe not. The story is real straightforward, characters aren't as deeply fleshed out as Three Houses, but you'll love it regardless if you're a big fan of the series as it's a sort of celebration of Fire Emblem as a series.

I found the interview a long time ago, but I have had trouble refinding it due to websites reporting on our 13 total DLC characters among other stuff. One of those fairly hidden sets on information, if you will.

POV: This is Smash Ultimate Deluxe, revealed in late 2023 and released sometime in 2024/2025 for the new system.
All content from Ultimate + 8 new purchased DLC characters. Kamek being the first of them, free for some few days after release (kinda like PP).
All other 7 DLC characters comes with new stage, music, spirits and mii costumes, just like in Ultimate.

Honestly I'm a bit sad that Alucard has more or less become the consensus next choice for Konami. Fair's fair, he is a very cool and popular character, and I like SotN just as much as the next guy, but like.....it's a third Castlevania rep. It's not even a Sonic case where there are kind of representation issues, CV is super well-served in Smash.

Konami has a lot of other cool IP. Bomberman and Silent Hill are the obvious ones, but there are also some solid darkhorses such as Contra, Ganbare Goemon, Tokimeki Memorial, the whole Bemaniverse, maybe Suikoden or a classic shmup character from Gradius or Twinbee, IMO these are all significant IP with enduring popularity

Honestly i just genuinely know nothing about Konami beyond like, Castlevania, Metal Gear, Contra and Boktai.

And we all know Boktai is never getting in, Django is too obscure to anyone who isnt a Megaman Fan.

Alucard is a cool character but I’ve always been more personally attached to Contra than CastleVania. It’s the only game I’ve ever played with my mother and we actually managed to beat it (with the Konami code but still). I’m really hoping we see Bill Rizer in Smash at some point. That said, Alucard and Bomberman would still be welcome additions.

Back to fighting game reps, Vega (claw) from Street Fighter would be another awesome choice but not particularly likely. He’s my brother’s favorite fighting game character and tied for my favorite Street Fighter character with Guile. He’s more of a minor character though so it would be a small miracle for him to be chosen over more popular options.

There only humanoid frogs/toads I really want to see from here on are the Battletoads or Frog (from Chrono Trigger). Greninja’s cool so it can stay. I’d take Politoed or Poliwrath too but they’re probably less likely than the others. Okay, maybe that’s a lot of humanoid frogs I’d love to see lol.

If I had a dollar for every time someone said we should have a Tetris stage, I would have enough money to convince Nintendo to finally go after putting Tetris in Smash.

Honestly its just one of the coolest ideas that has not been tackled yet. I thought after Tetris 99 they would have looked into it.

Also i heard of alear Speculation? Keep in mind FireEmblem Has 8 Characters thats 2 More Than zelda and 2 More Than Kirby and Donkeykong Combined!
Just saying cutting out Chrom, Lucina and Corrin might be the Right Choice (Chrom and lucina cause to many marth movesets and Corrin cause from what ive heard tons of people dislike Fates) and than to soften the Blow add either Lyn or Someone New or something!

I wonder if they can make back-forward charge moves work in Smash as they already have up-down charge moves (Terry's Strong Rising Tackle). Guile would be interesting addition (I even made the support thread for him) as he's a FG character who doesn't use motion inputs at all.

They just don't feel like interesting additions to me compared to Ring Fit Adventurer who actually has a surprisingly unique set of attacks and movement options under their belt.

Like, they are just stand-ins of players for a sports game, and while you can make a moveset out of the different sports they can participate in, the fact that they are customizable avatars and don't really have a face feels detrimental to their appeal and chances. It doesn't help that Miis' "create your character" aspect is already incorporated into Smash in a very interesting way that I'm not sure if can be replicated.

One thing I’d love to see if we get any Killer Instinct rep is to incorporate the announcer into their voices. It would feel like a missed opportunity not getting to hear ULTRA COMBOOO! or CCCCOMBO BREAKER! while playing with them.

That's fair.

That's a me problem but while I don't want to knock down the game's art style, I never felt like it was anything noteworthy. Maybe that's why I don't feel like a custom avatar from Switch Sports is as interesting as Villager or Robin, who look like solid character designs even in their default forms.
