It was a lot of reasons. There’s a reason people really complained about Street Fighter V when it launched, that’s all I’ll say.

Most of the Mario cast is slated for a refresh in voice recordings.Do guys think that the older characters will get new recordings or it will only be a few like in Ultimate?
I did prefer its more stylized graphics to SFVI’s attempts at being photo realistic though. It was a lot of reasons.
I think Bayonetta will as well because her Japanese VA died and her English VA was already recast for Bayonetta 3.Most of the Mario cast is slated for a refresh in voice recordings.
The rest of the roster, idk. Hopefully more characters get fresh voice lines but I'm not holding my breath.
Especially DK, Diddy Kong and Bowser. Most of the Mario cast is slated for a refresh in voice recordings.

We’ve seen Mario V Sonic, Link V Cloud. At some point, it does get old.
Not to mention Nintendo probably wants nothing with Hellena Taylor (Bayonetta's first English VA) at this point.I think Bayonetta will as well because her Japanese VA died and her English VA was already recast for Bayonetta 3.
I feel like as soon as it was confirmed the Switch 2 was backwards compatible, Ultimate Deluxe should've been out the window. They didn't even port Smash 4 off of the Wii U like Mario Kart 8 did, I highly doubt they would suddenly decide to do a port now.I think either Ultimate Deluxe or Smash 6 could happen. Both have good reasons to exist right now. Honestly, I'd say it depends on what Nintendo and Sakurai want to do; I could see them going with either, to be honest.
Smash Bros. Ultimate Deluxe is the safer option of the two, and it's guaranteed to please fans and bring in big bucks, especially since they have Mario Kart 8 Deluxe to show how well a port can sell. An Ultimate Deluxe with a FP3 and FP4 would be HUGE and take the gaming world by storm again, like OG Ultimate did. But a Deluxe port also risks the series becoming stale. I do think that whether Deluxe or not happens, a Smash 6 will inevitably come. I think it's better to move on when we have 82 characters than to wait until we have 100+ characters. The more content they add in Ultimate Deluxe and the longer they take to move on, the harder the inevitable Smash 6 will hit the fanbase.
Smash 6 could potentially bring a breath of fresh air to the series and take it in a new direction. They could try to rework certain veterans, add a new stage roster, and maybe even try new single-player modes. But Smash 6 also has the chance to cut the fanbase in half if they make the wrong cuts or decisions, especially in the gameplay department. Smash 6 is obviously a more risky move than Ultimate Deluxe, especially if there are cuts or gameplay changes. Believe it or not, this could negatively impact sales. Obviously, Smash 6 will sell, but maybe not as well as an Ultimate Deluxe would, especially if they make decisions that don't sit well with people. A Smash Bros. version of Dexit would be exhausting to deal with.
So, both have their pros and cons, and I think either of them could happen. I wouldn't be surprised by either choice. At first, I thought Smash 6 was unlikely, but after Nintendo revealed MK9, maybe they’re bolder than I thought. I was surprised that it was MK9 and not MK8D+, which seemed the safest and most profitable option of the two.
I do hope the Ult Deluxe vs Smash 6 talk rests for a bit, though, i feel like it has already been discussed million of times.
And Iwata actually used a port as a threat to get Sakurai to work on Brawl. They intended to port Melee to the Wii with the only new addition being online play if Sakurai chose not to return for Brawl, which he ultimately did.I feel like as soon as it was confirmed the Switch 2 was backwards compatible, Ultimate Deluxe should've been out the window. They didn't even port Smash 4 off of the Wii U like Mario Kart 8 did, I highly doubt they would suddenly decide to do a port now.
Here’s a few matchups I think would be really fun to see (with the caveat that one half has to already be playable in Smash):Any other dream match ideas?
- Pikachu V Agumon
- Ryu V Scorpion/Sub Zero
- Nintendo characters V Sony characters V XBOX characters
- Chun Li V Lara Croft
- Tekken character V Soul Calibur/Virtua Fighter/Dead or Alive character
- Dante V Bayonetta
- Samus V Master Chief V Doom Slayer V Gordon Freeman
- Duke Nukem V Serious Sam
- Final Fight characters V Streets of Rage characters
But that's because most of the Switch audience wouldn't have played vanilla MK8.since they have Mario Kart 8 Deluxe to show how well a port can sell.
And I 100% would not blame them after that whole mess. Not to mention Nintendo probably wants nothing with Hellena Taylor (Bayonetta's first English VA) at this point.
Yeah, fair enough. But that's because most of the Switch audience wouldn't have played vanilla MK8.
I think they could still justify a Ultimate Deluxe with having FP1 and FP2 in the base game, plus bonus content and an extra or two FP, so i personally think it still is possible we get a port, it's the safest and most profitable option to do as well after all, i don't think BC completely erases the posibility of Ult Deluxe, after all WiiU had ports of Twilight Princess which was on the Wii for example.I feel like as soon as it was confirmed the Switch 2 was backwards compatible, Ultimate Deluxe should've been out the window. They didn't even port Smash 4 off of the Wii U like Mario Kart 8 did, I highly doubt they would suddenly decide to do a port now.
On the FF VS SoR one, could add Double Dragon/River City. AlsoAny other dream match ideas?

I just have one idea.Any other dream match ideas?

chibi-robo vs megman? anyone? no? worth a tryAny other dream match ideas?
I hope it'll be the former, but I'm not holding my breath either.Do guys think that the older characters will get new recordings or it will only be a few like in Ultimate?
Yeah, and from what I heard, Sakurai is pretty much against the idea of ports, which makes it even more unlikely to happen.I feel like as soon as it was confirmed the Switch 2 was backwards compatible, Ultimate Deluxe should've been out the window. They didn't even port Smash 4 off of the Wii U like Mario Kart 8 did, I highly doubt they would suddenly decide to do a port now.
Pokémon just did theirs and the franchise got to sales levels it hasn't seen since the 90s.Smash fans aren't ready for their Street Fighter 3 moment. Might not be the immediate next thing but you can only kick the can down so many times.
Yeah, we're all well aware?Pokémon just did theirs and the franchise got to sales levels it hasn't seen since the 90s.
Smash Bros has gone so high that going down seem possible despite other begging to not lose what they enjoyed. You cannot keep everything to make room for new content. Some has to be removed to save development time.Smash fans aren't ready for their Street Fighter 3 moment. Might not be the immediate next thing but you can only kick the can down so many times.
Dexit was not the reason for the new game's successes.Pokémon just did theirs and the franchise got to sales levels it hasn't seen since the 90s.
It’s probably just the Switch being both a home console and portable so more people have the opportunity to play the series.Pokémon just did theirs and the franchise got to sales levels it hasn't seen since the 90s.
And the fact that all it had content-wise at launch was training, local versus and online versus is one of those reasons. It was a lot of reasons.
Like i said before even if we get a Ult Deluxe, we'll probably still get a new smash bros entry eventually, a Ult Deluxe would simply delay a Smash 6 for like 8 years or so instead of releasing in 2026 for NS2 if the port doesn't happen. A ult deluxe to me would be a last hurra type of enchanted port for everyone is here than a "Smash 6 will never happen" scenario, that kinda seems like an exageration, i think it's perfectly reasonable that Nintendo might want to ride the "everyone is here" train for a few more years with bonus content and a new fighter pass, i'm speaking as someone who would prefer a Smash 6.Everything's a matter of degree anyway. Smash will cut characters in the future; whether or not it will ever be to the (relative) severity of a SFIII is hard to say. In some respects, the New Generation was a bit of an outlier. The game's struggling performance (while rooted in many non-roster factors) seemed to telegraph the idea to many fighting game developers that cuts that outright feel like amputations to the audience are so inherently risky, that sequels need to tread carefully when doing it. Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite's initial sales struggles and mixed reputation with fans is also something tied (fairly or unfairly) to the loss of such characters like the X-Men, potentially further suggesting that a perceived excess removal of characters can be an albatross on the game's overall presence in the market.
Tbh, i don't think Smash 6 situation is comparable to SF3, i think if anything it could be more comparable to MvC3 or MvC:I....depending how it goes.Smash fans aren't ready for their Street Fighter 3 moment. Might not be the immediate next thing but you can only kick the can down so many times.
I also don't think Smash fans reaction will be as bad as Pokemon fan's reaction, there will defintiely be uproar, as some people aren't ready to move on, but if the game is still as high quality and content packed, then it will probably considerably calm the uproar, also i expect cut fan-favourites (if any) to return as DLC ASAP.Pokémon just did theirs and the franchise got to sales levels it hasn't seen since the 90s.
In his defense I don't he meant that Dexit led to the games being successful, just pointing out how it didn't seem to matter as much in the end.Dexit was not the reason for the new game's successes.
Linking the two things together is dishonest.
I still think about that from time to time. What even was her end game? That whole situation still makes no sense. Not to mention Nintendo probably wants nothing with Hellena Taylor (Bayonetta's first English VA) at this point.
