Guys, I've come to a horrible realization.

For all the songs featured in Smash Ultimate. It's somehow missing the main opening theme from Smash Wii U. It has every other opening but not Smash Wii U

I hope the next Smash Bros game fixes this atrocious mistake

Wario Man should've stayed a transformation FS. Wario becoming a super god with the most ludicrous frame data imaginable and attack quirks that also essentially just allowed him to speed around the screen is peak Wario and that should've never left.
I really just want a Wario Man alt

Fate/ Stay Night is getting a Switch port

Is never been so back for the Saber for Smash crowd
Would a casual audience recognize Fate/stay? All I can see are future streamers reacting in real time going “YO WHO THE **** IS THAT? :sakbanjo:

Not just getting a Switch port, but this is quite literally the First Official English localization of Fate/Stay Night. And to celebrate the franchises' 20th Anniversary too, as it was released today in 2004 in Japan. Quite exciting.

I watched the first anime of Fate/Stay Night but I couldn’t really get into it. I did watch the whole thing though. Apparently the newer anime was supposed to be better but the first kind of turned me off to the series. I did find it hilarious that the main character was in love with a girl that was supposedly the reincarnation of King Arthur. Definitely a weird premise.

She's not a reincarnation, but actually them semi-transported into the future. Basically, she made a pact with the World itself to have a wish granted as she was dying after her battle with Mordred and so basically, in her time, she's practically frozen/sleeping while semi-spiritually, she was transported to the "Throne of Heroes" and then summoned into the present. There's alot of time and multiverse shenanigans with the Fate series, so don't think about it too hard, especially when sometimes, it does things for Rule of Cool rather than logic.

And it depends on the route on who the main character falls in love with. In only one route does he fall in love with her. The other two, he doesn't.

Well, that’s interesting…

Saber would be a neat pick to have. Fate does have a variety of content over the years for possible spirits and such (or it’s just limited to Fate/Stay Night content and nothing else).

I don’t know if it’s possible, but could we see mobile game characters get in Smash? I don’t mean western IPs like Angry Birds or Candy Crush.

I more so mean the ‘waifu gacha’ games of Japan, Korea, and China. Stuff like Azur Lane, or Blue Archive. Where does that land in Smash speculation?

They seem to have moveset potential. Though it depends on if being from a mobile game puts them in a different situation.

Would a casual audience recognize Fate/stay? All I can see are future streamers reacting in real time going “YO WHO THE **** IS THAT? :sakbanjo:
It’s guaranteed the vocal minority will complain about another anime swordfighter. Despite that, Saber would be a nice pick to have.

Okay, thanks for clarifying. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen that anime so my memory was a bit foggy there. I had no knowledge of the series prior to watching the anime and didn’t even realize it was based on a game until later on. Maybe I’ll check out the second anime that’s supposed to be better at some point. It does have Crispin Freeman voicing one of the characters, who is among my favorite voice actors.

With Fate/stay night being one of the most proclaimed visual novels around, it's a pretty big deal that people outside of Japan can now actually read the original work instead of having to access it through fan translations or anime adaptions.

While Saber in Smash is something I just like to joke about, I think there's a bigger chance we might get something from the series in Smash in the future. I don't expect a playable character but a Spirit or whatever the next game will replace them with would be nice.

In spite of how massive Fate has become (mostly due to Grand Order, let's be clear), part of me questions if the series would be blacklisted from Smash due to the eroge origins.

To be clear, not saying that it's impossible to represent the franchise without it because it's painfully clear the eroge elements could easily be ignored. Just that there could be a stigma from Nintendo themselves about the franchise crossing over into their game.

Also, Rider > Saber any day. Sorry, I don't make the rules. :p

That’s the main reason I’m not fully on board with the idea of a Fate Smash character. I’ll be okay if Saber makes it in but it might be a strange choice given the series origins. I do admit I’m mostly ignorant on the series other than having watched the first anime and what I hear online so my apologies if I’m misjudging it.

What about something like Steins;Gate? I really loved that anime and someone like Rintarou Okabe, Kurisu Makise, or Suzuha Amane could be really cool with some kind of time traveling mechanic.

we don't even know if there's another game currently being worked on or not.
No, we do. All the things need for development have all established. Sakurai ending his Youtube series, Studio S etc

I second this. Smash Run is the best single player mode this series has ever received. Better than World of Light, better than Subspace, it's infinitely repayable and has enough variation to never get old
Reel it back a ton. Smash Run was nice and all but on it's really is just an expanded Great Maze from SSE.

The mode doesn't hold up as single-player as would a multiplayer. The lack of interation between players & online mode really do hold it back.

I still say World of Light or even Melee's has it beat.

I really like World of Light but I feel like they only scratched the true potential of its format.
Although, this do agree with it. Cut down the number of spirits from feeling bloated. Add a few more minigames & challenges to spice things up Few more bosses as well and even multiplayer and WoL 2 would work like a charm.

Minority but i would rather see Adventure be WoL 2 or something new than Subspace again. Even then, the way people are adamant about drastic cuts and still majority of characters to return, would Subspace 2 be even feasible?

Well for one, the eroge parts were added because at the time, many Visual novels then had those scenes, so the publisher at the time thought the game wouldn't sell without them, so they were forced in. After it became clear that the people who bought it didn't care about them, they were removed in future re-releases. The Switch version is based on the Vita version, so it won't have those scenes.

Second, if Bayonetta, who's game not only had near-nudity and provocative sexuality but also outright fatalities and torture, can get in Smash Bros, I don't see why Fate/Stay Night should be blacklisted for less.

So just for clarity, would the originals be comparable to something like the scenes in the Witcher or other mainstream western games? If so, I suppose there’s no reason to hold that against it if any other M rated game had similar themes. I’m not personally interested in that aspect of games but I suppose there’s no real harm in it.

It would admittedly be hypocritical of me to hold the adult origins against the series while simultaneously supporting a character like Sub-Zero for Smash. Both Fate and Mortal Kombat have a ton of appeal outside their adult aspects and each can easily work without them. There’s not much reason why either can’t make it in especially if Bayonetta already did.

Do the Witcher scenes have outright genetilia and whatnot? Because Fate/Stay's scenes are outright hentai, no sugar coating it. But they are vanilla, nothing more. And quite frankly, there's much more disturbing stuff that is mentioned, but not shown in Fate/Stay Night, that the scenes themselves look like bunny rabbits in comparison.

So....nothing but speculation. Got it.

Doesn't matter WHY they happened; they still happened. And try as people want to erase it from history (for good reason), it will never go away completely. Versions without it existing doesn't change that the originals still exist and the stigma of representing a series with literal porn tied to it is still a potential issue Nintendo might have.

....how are actual sex scenes less?

I guess a Game of Thrones character made it into Multiversus and that series was also outright pornographic so maybe it’s not as big a deal as I’m making it out to be. I have no idea.

You call it speculation in, I call it...

I didn't see the bottom word at first and thought you were saying "Dog".

This may be true, but bear in mind Warner Bros. isn't Nintendo.

What is true for one is not necessarily true for another.

I'd love to be proven wrong and Nintendo just doesn't give a **** about Fate's origins when it comes to featuring the franchise in Smash. But until we see something like that happening (not including Castlevania for Alucard taking it in the Netflix series after Ultimate featured Castlevania content), it still is something to consider a plausible hurdle to overcome.

Can I ask why Universal Pictures didn't sue Konami because of the Son of Dracula movie?

It was because they didn't want to repeat the same **** as what happened to Donkey Kong?

I honestly feel like the franchise's origins will be ignored for the most part if they wanted Saber in. Maybe an aside in the presentation but nothing more (hell, i could see them having music from it if they wanted to, though maybe ersb shenanigans get in the way of that).

As it stands I feel like this issue is partially brought up to dissuade the fears that an anime swordswoman primarily known for being a gacha will take up a slot in smash eventually... though if not Fate, then surely something like Genshin will get the nod eventually.

Well just because Sakurai said in 2018 that the next Smash might be 10 years away doesn't mean Studio S (assuming they ARE Studio Smash and not...Studio Splatoon) has to wait until late 2025 to start making Smash 6 so it can go gold by December 2028.

What would everyone think of Dragaux instead of the Trainee themselves? I personally think his design is a lot more interesting and he’s an actual character instead of another nameless avatar. The player character would feel a bit samey in theme to me as Wii Fit Trainer even if the actual attacks themselves are very different.
