Smash now has Bowser, Jr., The Koopalings, King K. Rool, Ganondorf, Ridley, Dark Samus and Wolf in Smash.

(Smash also has Meta Knight, King Dedede and Mewtwo but I am not counting them as villains.)

Who is the biggest Nintendo owned villain that isn't playable in Smash?

I kinda don't think Nintendo has any big villains left.

Mother and Kid Icarus are both minor and now dead series so I don't see Porky, Medusa or Hades happening, and the likes of Andross or Mother Brain just don't make sense as playable fighters. And Skull Kid, Vaati, Ghirahim, Black Knight, etc aren't really important enough either, I don't think.

Maybe Sylux if he actually leaves an impression in MP4? lol

In terms of influence in Nintendo's circles, Medeus. As the first Fire Emblem villain, he set the standard for every final boss in the series. Every game has a spin on his archetype in some way.

Does Team Rocket count? Same with Meowth, really. Might be because of the anime but there's no doubt that everyone knows them.

If we're talking strictly videogames I guess Kamek, Skull Kid or Giygas, those are all pretty iconic.

Ooh, tough choice. The "Nintendo-owned" is what makes this tough.

...My gut actually tells me Giygas. It's weird to go for an Earthbound character in a contest of "biggest", but I think people know Giygas specifically because he's often lauded as one of the creepiest villains in gaming. That gives him a feeling of "bigness" that I don't get from, say, Andross or Dark Matter.

Unfortunately, I don't think it's possible to get the version of the character he's known for playable in Smash. Sakurai may be really good at making movesets, but I think making a background of swirling agony playable might be beyond even him.

He really wasn't. The villain was Bowser, as usual. Waluigi was just the first boss.

Unfortunately, I don't think it's possible to get the version of the character he's known for playable in Smash. Sakurai may be really good at making movesets, but I think making a background of swirling agony playable might be beyond even him.

Mother 1 Giygas exists, but no one wants to remember him it seems. Or Mother 1 in general.

Not the biggest, but I'd really like to see Malos (Xenoblade 2). I wouldn't want him to be a Shulk clone, though. He gives off a more heavy-footed vibe if that makes sense.

I mentioned this already, but if we're doing an FE final boss, it's gotta be Medeus. He's the trendsetter for every FE demon/dragon final boss in the series.

Nintendo has villains but all the iconic ones are already in the game. I'd love to see Porky, Malos, Skull Kid, Hades and Marx playable though.

I mentioned this already, but if we're doing an FE final boss, it's gotta be Medeus. He's the trendsetter for every FE demon/dragon final boss in the series.

I mean yeah, he works too, but if we gotta choose a Shadow Dragon villain, pick the right-hand man in 1 transformed into main villain in 3.

He was even in Warriors ffs.

I would also say Gharnef plays a bigger role in Marth's story than boring earth dragon Medeus.

Why did you put Black Shadow in there?

Captain Falcon is mostly well known, due to Smash. I highly doubt your average Nintendo fan played an F-Zero game and experienced Black Shadow.

100 % Hades. He (like fellow Goddess Medusa) is absolutely enourmous - Viridi wasn't kidding that watching him run was like watching an elephant sprint.

(Nah seriously, Hades is a decent contender for the most well-known Nintendo villain not yet in.)

(I was thinking of mentioning with the level that takes place inside Hades, but didn't know how to properly word that)

Probably Giovanni? And maybe Giygas?

As for Nintendo series without villains in yet, there is Kid Icarus(Medusa and Hades), Fire Emblem(the notable ones being Medeus, Gharnef, Black Knight, Grima, and THSpoilers) Pikmin(Plasma Wraith), F-Zero(Black Shadow), Earthbound/Mother(Porky and Giygas), Xenoblade(Zanza and Malos), Splatoon(Octavio) and ARMs(Dr. Coyle).
And for series with villains, there's the multitude of Mario villains like King Boo and Fawful, Zelda villains like Ghirahim and Vaati, Kirby villains like Dark Matter, Marx and Magalor, Metroid villains like Kraid and Mother Brain, and Andross from Star Fox.

But Giovanni is probably the last big Nintendo villain not yet in Smash and he's most likely not going to be in due to Pokemon focusing on the Pokemon for characters.
As for Giygas, not a lot of people have played his game, but Giygas is incredibly popular among Top 10 lists of being one of the scariest, possibly the scariest, Nintendo bosses. Heck, he's been mentioned by a bunch of popular youtubers like AVGN and Markiplier(who he himself loves Earthbound). Chances are that most people who know Giygas haven't played his game, but have heard of him from videos.

Grima doesn't actually do anything. It's one of those things that are clearly important, but never get the chance to actually do anything because what they would do is too powerful or something. Kind of like the Beanstar.

Mother 1 Giygas exists, but no one wants to remember him it seems. Or Mother 1 in general.

The other issue is that version of him is also unbeatable. I think Giygas would be better as either a stage hazard or Porky's Final Smash.

The only pre-existing villain other than Validar as well...which is actually quite sad now that I think about it.

That's 100% true, but I really hope he isn't perceived as the iconic villain. Though nowadays, that could be Edelgard in some sense.

On the topic of another Street Fighter rep. I know Chun-Li is the consensus for the 3rd rep but considering the new content from the stage, music, and spirits would be from III/IV/V. The rep would probably be someone like Alex/Ibuki/Viper/Juri/Rashid instead to better represent one of those games.

Yeah, probably this. All the iconic multi-game bosses from flagship series are already in, but he could certainly slide into that role and thus an appearance if he continues making appearances.

By that logic Birdo is bigger than Kirby or Samus.

I suppose it could be seen that way, but that's not how anyone is actually looking at it.
