Come to think of it, we don't have anyone who swings their weapon like a helicopter anymore.

Instead we have actual helicopters.

Edit: Or does Corrin do that?

Double Edit: I guess Pit does, actually. Never mind.

I'm not sure they'd make range his selling point since he's so tiny. Even with the extendo spear he probably wouldn't be able to hit you from almost halfway across Final Destination like Min Min, Byleth, and Sephiroth can.

Wouldn't make his hitboxes any less stupid though. Wouldn't have it any other way.
By normal standards, Bandana Dee would be mid-range at best, but by little guy standards Bandana Dee would be pretty unique. Boot up your switch and play a couple rounds with Kirby. Notice how small his range is.

Now picture Kirby with Marth's range. There you go; Now you've got a really rough approximation of Bandana Dee.

I WILL say that in terms of being a menacing and effective villian Sephiroth is far superior to Eggman TBH. He was the right choice if you're looking at said criteria alone.

Sephiroth permanently altered the lives of Cloud and countless others, but Eggman seems to have his plans completely reversed by Sonic game after game. Poor guy...

Sephiroth also makes more sense than Eggman in terms of Sales as well. Since Final Fantasy is The Highest Selling Japanese Third Party Series in Smash. And Sephiroth is the Villain of the Highest Selling Game in the Series, VII. Which also has the most Spinoffs out of all of the Final Fantasies. Overall, business wise, Sephiroth makes far more sense than Eggman, Geno, and Sora.

I'm thrilled we got Sephiroth.

But at the same time the big dumb villainous goofs are some of the funniest, most beloved Smash characters. K. Rool, Wario... and of course... :4dedede:

Can't say either would be a poor choice over the other. Though I doubt Eggman is the next Sonic character we'd receive.

Yeah, well, I'd like to see Sonic reverse half the moon back into existence.

Wait, what do you mean it's shown whole in later games?!

Jokes aside, I hear the canonical explanation is that we always coincidentally see the side that isn't blown up. Which, if true, is actually one of my favorite pieces of Sonic lore. It's up there with "in the Sonic universe, you hack computers by going into their code and platforming around in there". Can't top Gerald's execution video, though. That whole plotline is unironically good, fight me.

Reimu, cause bullet hell and stuff

I've never actually played Touhou but i watched a few videos and I can see that translating to distanced attacks
Reimu's interesting in that most of her actual normals would probably be relatively stubby but still disjointed thanks to her gohei, which usually isn't very long, but she'd have an absurd amount of projectiles on her special moves/aerials.

Oh I agree that in terms of being threatening Sephiroth does the job better, but at the same time being a comedic villain comes with it's own separate benefits and charms. At the same time the good doctor does come with his own serious baggage. He participates in slavery and animal cruelty what with him using animals as batteries for his machines. If Sonic was slightly more serious in tone the doctor would be treated much more differently than he currently is considering what he does for a living.

It will always be funny and sad that Byleth's two gimmicks got cucked by the entirety of FP2 so far.
Well look at Marth.
Back in Melee, Marth's range was his entire character.
Now they've continually nerfed the length of his sword and added characters with bigger swords in his place.

Ohhhh, premium is a literal paid membership on here. Thought it was some kind of ranking, heh.

Anyway, I wonder if the next chatacter is a female? With Sephiroth out of the way, we could see CP9 release in March. Specifically on International Women's Day if possible, heheuhehuhehue.

Honestly, in Smash's Setting, Sephiroth is one of the funniest characters. He's this Emo Sociopath who casually one shots Galeem just to troll Cloud. Alongside almost destroying his entire home planet, and killing MILLIONS of Innocents OUT OF HIS OWN WILL! Compare that to Ganondorf, who isn't really that bad as a person, but is very easy to corrupt into being evil thanks to The Curse of Demise that created Ganon in the first place!

Not only that, but he has shown to single-handedly screw up timelines as well. Compare that to Ganondorf, who isn't nearly as screwed up in the head as Sephiroth, and is mostly evil due to the Curse of Demise that created Ganon in the First Place.
Sephiroth is also one of the funniest characters in Smash's setting because it's Sephiroth getting dabbed on by Villager and Isabella.

Sephiroth can wear a jetpack and bunny ears while fighting and losing to a Minecraft Zombie possessed by the spirit of Slippy Toad.

At least Marth has his grab Oh wait. wrong game.

Forget the leak, this is the real reason KOS-MOS makes sense. Sakurai would totally add her now with how the DLC keeps on power-creeping the range of characters attacks.
These are the seeds out of which something like "Range Theory" will eventually bloom. xd
Is this how Dhalsim can still win?

He's used to it what with Cloud taking the concept of stupidly huge sword and not giving it garbage frame data.
But that doesn't matter to him much when he can just activate "SPEED!" and zoom forward with a bunch of F-Airs.

One reason I dislike the Shulk matchup as a Cloud myself.

Hey, another character = more ways to KO people in hilarious ways.

Sephiroth's - likely - Down Air (The Aerith Killer / Hell's Gate) is already going to be mainly a "get to the ground quick / disrespect kill offstage" thing, I just hope that he can somehow confirm into that from other attacks like the black orbs exploding the opponent in just the right direction for the Down Air to hit.

Then there's Dr. Wily, who terrorized the world in life, created a virus that does it for him in death (by corrupting the minds of sapient robots and turning them genocidal), which causes unrest between humans and Reploids for centuries, and either continues to affect people long before the main heroes defending against it are long gone, or inspires a particularly nasty group of Reploids to pick up where they left off.

EDIT: All this without even being a villain that's played straight.

But that doesn't matter to him much when he can just activate "SPEED!" and zoom forward with a bunch of F-Airs.

True, though this is after the buff to his frame data. His Neutral Aerial is no longer as slow as a Smash Attack now. lol

So here's a question prompted by all the villain talk.

Smash now has Bowser, Jr., The Koopalings, King K. Rool, Ganondorf, Ridley, Dark Samus and Wolf in Smash.

(Smash also has Meta Knight, King Dedede and Mewtwo but I am not counting them as villains.)

Who is the biggest Nintendo owned villain that isn't playable in Smash?

Probably Grima or someone else from the Fire Emblem Series.
