I think if it's an unexpected character with western popularity, people are going down the wrong path thinking it's a Japanese character.

There aren't very many that fit those specifications. A lot of the series/characters raised are not unexpected, and/or not so comparatively unpopular in Japan that the tease would make sense.

I don't know why, but I feel like people are slightly sleeping on a Rhythm Heaven representative.

Emphasis on the Japanese My Nintendo site. Idk if anyone’s noticed that going down before but do those go down before smash reveals?

Venus of the Desert Bloom Venus of the Desert Bloom do you usually check the JP My Nintendo site to confirm?
I never check it. But I assume you guys mean this?

It says there will be maintenance on the site from the 28th to the 1st of October. This is because they are renewing the site. Ordering from the site, tracking shipments, and purchasing won’t be available but digital sales that dont involve shipping can stil be used. While the projected date to finish if the 1st, it may be enlongated due to circumstances or issues. It also says F7 will be released after the maintenance. It will be Goku.

That’s about it

Luigi's Mansion 3 was made by a western dev, and is popular.

It's happening, y'all.
Bonus points if he can still perform the Grab-Combo-Into-Super-Jump-Punch or has Melee Luigi's glorious nonsense:

Because we're bored.

As much as I would love one, it's highly likely that the series is dead, which means it won't be getting a character now, and probably not ever.

Maybe in a few decades when the series is considered retro.

Yes, I am aware, but still.

I wouldn't rule out old first parties just because of Byleth and Min Min. Sure, Byleth and Min Min were modern promotional picks, but sleeping on older first parties may not be the best idea. Still, we will see.
If series stuck in limbo between current and retro had an easy path to inclusion, I'd be playing as Isaac right now.

Replying to this again but I did some searching and found maintenance to the JP My Nintendo Store doesn’t coincide with Smash reveals. Digging through it’s history (which isn’t categorized well which surprises me) shows the last renewal and maintenance update was in 2018. The info I found wasn’t in official news, tweets, and such but, rather, through a blog so I mean, they aren’t really that big of news. This one though is a bit longer than average I think.

I'll give the leak the benefit of the doubt, since apparently MinMin's announcement of an announcement came a day after whatever big tournament was going on at the time, and we've seen them drop news late at night as of late, like with Kirby Fighters 2 and Partner Showcases.

Do I believe this leak though? Hell no rofl.

If SMRPG Remake or Sequel is a real game, Even if Geno is Unplayable in Ultimate, would he have a good chance in Next Smash since he did appear in another game after 2 decades?

I’m jumping late into this but, Shroob Shroob , what’s this leak about?
It's that Reddit post saying Smash is "Imminent"

It's a Reddit account made 23 days ago with one post, the poster saying the character is "Popular in the West" and "No one is expecting".

Yeah it's bull**** but anyway I think we could still get something this week anyway so shrug

Well, so far, all 1st party DLC newcomers seem to be promotional (even in the previous game where we had Corrin), and I personally expect that trend to continue. I'd be perfectly fine with being wrong, but I personally can't see a concrete reason why I could be.

You know, Crono would've been a great retro rep if SE actually gave a crap about the series :O
Well they might if sequels weren't so cursed. Iirc there were many attempts, and only Chrono Cross got off the ground...aaaaand everyone hated that game.

If it is indeed a thing, I could see a double reveal with it and Geno in Super Smash Bros...but I find the idea of pigs flying more likely than Nintendo deciding to remake a game they don't own the rights to, and don't approve of, most of the stuff in it.

I have a question.

How come if Byleth and Min Min aren't as "impactful" as third parties in here, then how come we bring up Byleth a lot, even though it has almost been a year since them?

I admit it may be my fault, because I talk about Byleth a lot for some reason. They're neat.

They likely didn't really do as much for the masses than the 3rd party characters. It's really just Super Smash Bros. fans that blew up and are still angry at him.

Min Min got a resounding "meh" from pretty much everyone.

Knowing how big chrono trigger was, I think it would've been worth trying with something that's more like it.

Chrono Cross is one of my favorite rpgs of all time tho, so not everyone hates it ;)

I guess they mean in a good way "Impactful" when talking about the 3rd parties

when Talking about Byleth, it's seen more as a negative, . But you're kind of right that Byleth is impactful, though usually not in the best of ways

Thank goodness Byleth was last, and wasn't the first character revealed. Imagine if Byleth was the first character revealed when 3 Houses didn't come out yet. I Imagine people wouldn't take well to that

I assume you're thinking about the Nintendo VS NA tournament? (aka the Online Tournament mode with items and some awful stages). Japan's last tournament in the Online mode was early September, and they didn't have one around Min Min's release (those tournaments had more normal rulesets since they also had LAN Finals IIRC - the Nintendo VS one gave out My Nintendo Gold Points instead). There is an ongoing 32-man Japanese LAN tournament, but that one's weekly and I kinda doubt Nintendo's factoring that one in.

The Nintendo-sponsored tournament I can think of around Min Min's reveal was the last NA Online Open IIRC.

They likely didn't really do as much for the masses than the 3rd party characters. It's really just Super Smash Bros. fans that blew up and are still angry at him.

Min Min got a resounding "meh" from pretty much everyone.
That and the pandemic has limited both Byleth's and Min Min's competitive records, so people don't have as much of a clue where they stand compared to previous DLC characters. Not to say that they're not used - MKLeo has picked up Byleth and ESAM loves Min Min, but the characters are less in the limelight due to the general absence of LAN tournaments.

I just got one of my all-time wants in Min Min. As much as I meme about RH and stuff, I'm more than content rn.

But maaaan the day RH makes it in will be glorious, which is why it's never gonna happen . I'll gladly take a new game at least, which also isn't gonna happen lol

It's fake, but I'll still give it a courtesy of waiting til tomorrow morning's normal time.

The ideal world would be news drops tonight and we get something tomorrow, but it's fake, and I'm only keeping it in mind just in the .0000001% chance this person isn't spouting bull****.
Speaking of, haven't we gotten leaks for things coming out within hours/the same day?

For instance, Verge leaking the Mii Costume list for Byleth during the presentation.

I'm leaning fake as is too, of course, but at least it has a quick window.

Gotcha. I normally don’t give leaks much attention but it’s good to know what’s making the rounds. We’ve been playing this “It could happen today” game since August and I’m digging my heels into the speculative dirt for the possibility we could get a late October - early November reveal.

That'd be correct.

However, it seems like Nintendo's sending out press kit info about a day~ early. Imran leaked MinMin and Hyrule Warriors BOTW about a day early, and ResetERA leakers/Emily Rogers did the same for the Mario collection.

Zhunge leaked Monster Hunter Rise a day early, though Shinobi teased it much earlier than that.

I never said Byleth was as impactful as Joker. My bad if my post sounded like that.

I remember being on Twitter when Byleth was released, and it was a cesspool. It was a war between Byleth lovers and haters. Byleth is quite cool, but the backlash from the Smash fans got VERY dreadful.
Min Min got a resounding "meh" from pretty much everyone.
I would say I feel like Smash fans did shed Min Min in more of a positive light than Byleth at least. I need to ignore what other people think at times.

Not to suggest credibility, but "imminent" is relative, isn't it? In the same way "soon" can be later this week, or not til next month, imminent could be tonight, it could be tomorrow, it could be in two or three days.

I feel like you bring up Byleth way more frequently than anyone else these days. Usually to talk about how often we talk about them.

I personally don't think we've talked that much about Byleth recently. They're mentioned, sure, but they're not really the centre of conversation like they used to be. You weren't here when that was happening.

The reason they aren't that impactful to the game is because we've already had a lot of content from that series, and it's not like they were some longtime fan request. And, 3H is, all things considered, rather small potatoes compared to someone hailing from an entirely new, potentially big, third-party series. They're only impactful to our conversations because they're contentious.

I'd imagine their usefulness is pretty heavily affected on WiFi. For example, if LAN tournaments were the norm, Byleth's tactics wouldn't fly as far due to his slow speed. Min Min might be fine though, losing a bit more unreactibility for more precision and complicated antics.

I would say I feel like Smash fans did shed Min Min in more of a positive light than Byleth.
Oh definitely. Min Min actually did get a net positive because she wasn't Spring Man even though she should have been. But a lot of people didn't really care enough to strongly take any position to who the pick was.

I feel like the thing that's a bit sus is that Pokemon is "Soon" but Smash is "Imminent".

Maybe I'm just projecting here, but to me, imminent would imply at the very least sometime this week, probably sooner than later, no pun intended.
