If Spring Man can do all of the following and still not be considered the game's mascot...

• Be front and centre on the game's cover.
• Be the first character on the character select screen.
• Be the protagonist of both the (allegedly) upcoming Dark Horse graphic novel and the 4Koma comics.
• Get an evil clone character.
• Be centre in the character line-up during ARMS' credits.
• Be one of the most prominent faces in every piece of art that shows off the entire cast.
• Be front and centre in Min Min's final smash (which is meant to show off ARMS' cast).

...then I honestly don't know what it for a character to actually be a mascot.

I guess we are just going to disagree, because I don't think there is a single reason up there I didn't cover in my initial post you quoted.

..not to mention, regardless of what was the case, more people now will know Min Min than Spring Man. That's just the Smash effect. Ultimately, if a character is both the most prominent, and the most liked by the masses, then it is de facto the mascot.

Been watching more Angry Beavers. What have I been missing?

Talks about Zelda character's viability for DLC, are VNs video games or not. Oh and some
stinking hoodlum is eating cereal... without milk! We better keep our eyes on everyone including the mods... please get the reference...

People are way too quick to say Zelda is deconfirmed.

If the Mii Costume was short-haired Zelda or decomposing Ganondorf, then yeah, I might be more willing to say we probably weren't getting a Zelda character. The costume we ended up getting is, let's be honest, a very insignificant part of the orginal BotW that may or may not be present in BotW2 or even AoC. Do I feel like Sakurai was obligated to save that Mii costume for later just because it came from the same universe? No, not really. Do I think Sakurai would choose that costume if we were getting Zelda content later down the road? Not sure, but that's just something we'll have to wait and see. Zelda will likely be relevant in most of 2021, so we could be waiting as late as F11.

A Zelda character does have a chance speaking of which, what Zelda character does everyone want. Me I'd like either Impa, Mipha, or Revali in that order.

So instead of Saber, Red Saber should be in Smash instead, I mean her game is a JRPG and its getting a remake so why not?

I feel like I've read this comment dozens of times now. Despite a lot of claims of burnout after the ARMS guessing game there sure seem to be a lot of people looking forward to another one.

Is it possible for a game on rollback code to work with a non rollback code?

Insteat of general LoL Spirits, the Board has several different versions of Ryze.

I kid, but the fact that there's almost enough of these to actually make a Spirit Board is... something.

Probably Zelda. Lots of people want lots of characters from the series, when they're all fighting eachother it would probably get messy.

Well I don't know know anything about internet stuff, but but if rollback couldn't work with delay based code, I don't think there's any guarantee that a Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Deluxe would be have to work with the vanilla version.

Some things I have heard though is that if you can save replays, you can implement rollback, so it could work in theory with a little elbow grease.

Likely to reduce scope, and add focus. This is supposed to be a celebration of gaming, and adding a character that doesn't really have much to do with gaming would be random in that sense, not to mention how far that rabbit hole would go down when all anime, and potentially, all of media is the scope of the series.

That's actually a really good point. Licensing is pretty odd for anime in other countries. Sometimes it's outright another company. Though I don't know how much it affects who has the original rights. (or if that matters)

Alternate timelines flash before my eyes, of the entire global internet in flames.

Lets just say it like this - some people in LoL's Chinese forums brought out the Reddit translations when a Chinese team recently underperformed - hard - at the World Championship. Going 1-3 W-L and just barely avoiding elimination in a tiebreaker when people expected 4-0 and direct advancement to the next stage.

If a LoL guessing game happens, I'm willing to say that: then there'd be a lot of Chinese people doing SmashBoards translations too. I do imagine that there'd be quite a bit of Twitter / Reddit / Nico Nico translations... And a lot of translations going in all sorts of other directions ("Japanese reactions to LoL guessing game" / "Chinese reactions to LoL guessing game") etc.

Honestly? If we follow precedent, a Granblue guessing game probably means it's NOT Gran or Djeeta.

And I like most of the characters I got to play in Versus soooo... count me in!

I actually don't think these two would be that bad.

Zelda has a lot of interesting options and fans have been starving for a non-Triforce character for a loooong time. Sure, I'd favor Midna, but also wouldn't mind Impa, Ghirahim or even Tingle. A new Zelda character that isn't just another version of Link/Zelda/Ganon will always be a win in my book.

As for Capcom, there's quite a bit of overlap between fanbases and it's really hard to go wrong with their characters, what with the sheer range of genres they cover. Kinda like Sega or Namco, in a way.

Well if she isn't in the pass then I wouldn't mind for AoC Impa to be a Sheik echo.

They already have spirits from Visual Novels so clearly Nintendo views them as video games, There are spirits from, Famicom Detective Club, Another Code, Hotel Dusk etc.


I cannot see Impa coming with a full pack, All the characters with official art from Botw and Skyward sword already have spirits in the game and if they theme it around Hyrule Warriors then there will only be 4 new spirits, If they add Echoes or Extra characters then Impa has a better chance but as of September 27th I cannot see Impa coming with a full pack.

Does she have to have a full pack? Remember how this Fighter Pass has one extra character compared to the previous one? Might just be Impa, as a bonus character like Piranha Plant was. She can come with different bonuses, like alternative costumes for the Zelda cast, like BotW Zelda, or whatever else.
