HW2 can and would have new mii costumes, so it doesn't really make a difference.

I know, and there's no good reason to believe that. They can decide to add any type of mii costume , doesn't have to mean they don't also want a zelda character.
would it have made sense if Iori was the Mii Costume for volume 1? No, because he should be with the rest of the SNK stuff. It's the same thing here.

... Even if those character are important to Nintendo, I don't see them having a positive reaction in the same vein as Dante, Crash, Ryu Hayabusa etc.
I am at the point of questioning if there is any true point in discussing fan reaction. Byleth was introduced and basically stated, "after the long wait for the end of the pass, here is Byleth, from the Fire Emblem!... we're sorry." I know I'm exaggerating slightly, but even his reveal was done knowing it wasn't going to go over well with many people.

So... I don't think it matters to discuss 'will people be hype!?'

Not to mention Bayonetta and Corrin. Remember that? My general memory was that when they mentioned Bayonetta, they stated, 'And yes... she came in the top ten in Scandinavia for one week of the polls! That counts as winning it yeah?'

So it doesn't count as VN but other VNs count as games because of interactions, but Fate's don't count because you said so?
I'm not making a solid argument, I'm saying I think nintendo will view it as a manga, because it's mostly just a novel with images. If a manga had one those 'pick a path or ending', would you consider it a video game? It's a video novel, not 'really' a game.

You're trying to figure out what nintendo would do, and they think like a business for FE, a new game was enough for them to add another FE character. I don't see how a mii costume stops that in any way.
You said it yourself It is hard to predict what nintendo will do, Famicom Detective Club is a video game and Nintendo thought of that too hence the spirit in smash, I don't see how that would change with Fate

That's third party. It wouldn't deconfirm, but still less likely to happen when rights are involved I would think.

I still wonder where chocobo and geno are.

Man, Nintendo sure loves promoting mangas.

Yup. But we do know they don't want manga characters. It just depends where you draw the line. I think pheonix wright definitely has a decent chance. Saber, as much as it would be cool to see her, I think she's near 0 chance.

I don't see what that has to do with fate stay night. I already mentioned pheonix wright is probably seen as a game by most people.

Has Fate/Stay Night (the VN) ever officially been released outside of Japan? I know people like it, but everything I've seen has basically said that if you want to experience it in English, you have to import or emulate it and add a translation patch.

It's a game, you choose actions to do the entirety of it.

I'm going to stop talking about this. I'm not invested in debating about Saber at least XD
I said what I thought, alright? ;p

I don't need to offer an argument, because you're the one making assumptions.
That's...not how debates work.

But i did talk about arms mii costume, nintendo being a business, but you focus on 'deciding for an entire series at the start of the pass', which doesn't mean they'd want a bonus guardian costume to release at the same time as an HW2 rep.
The ARMS costumes are irrelevant to my argument, as I am only referring to DLC content.
My argument can coexist with the fact that Nintendo is a business. In fact, it's pretty much based upon it.
Does it? I'm pretty sure all costumes from a series have appeared alongside the fighter of that series unless there isn't one. Why would this one be a random exception? I mean, it's certainly feasible for them to do something like that, but it's also inconsistent with what has been done.

Anyway, it seems like everyone's barking at you at this point, so I'm gonna end the conversation here. I don't want you to feel like the world's against you as is what tends to happen to people with unpopular opinions (at least, among those present).

As someone who has witnessed the dumb "Are VNs real videogames?" argument many, many times in many different sites it's always struck me as really funny how riled up the "pro-game" side gets, as if being compared to a book were the worst insult imaginable.

The closest thing I have to an stance is: they are technically videogames, but leaving aside the "video" part for a moment, you're kidding yourself if you deny they are closer to a book than to a game. I say that as someone who read like 70 hours of text in the original F/SN about 15 years ago, cooking scenes included.

No, I don't think VNs are excluded from Smash.

Bruh I know you got mad at me a few weeks ago for saying Rex is generally considered likely but you're really trying to say VNs aren't games?
Bite me. The only thing I did was call out a poor argument.

That is a genuine issue No it has not. But a lot like Reimu the most popular spin-offs have been released outside including Fate/Grand Order which is the sixth highest grossing mobile game of all time and is so popular that it was the most talked about game on twitter two years in a row so I would say that game alone is a good enough reason for Nintendo to at least keep an eye on Fate.

My only thought would be that the ancient gear was specifically made with being a bonus costume in mind. If it wouldn't have existed if not as a bonus, then maybe the series wouldn't have mattered as much. You could also argue that the base game already has BotW content, so it's not representing something new and unrevealed, but something old.

I do think Impa is unlikely going by precedent, but in the same way people are saying Pokemon could break the spirit precedent, I think Zelda could break the mii costume precedent, especially since the ancient gear isn't exactly paid for with extra money.

The person who makes the claim has to offer evidence that can be true. That's how debates work.
Your claim is that the mii costume means they decided on no zelda reps for the pass. There's no evidence for this. The only thing that comes close is saying that the Rex costume is all they could do. That one instance doesn't apply to all mii costumes for every pass.

There's no 'exceptions'. We literally have only one pass to base ourselves on, and the arms mii costume is example that it doesn't matter. You think they decide everything with concrete rules, when they don't have to do that.

And yes the world is against me, please stop. xD

This is an interesting part because, no it hasn't, but the series has been very much in the west for quite awhile now.

Fate/Extra was on the PSP(Though its sequel never got brought over due to....very explicit themes)

Fate/Extella Link has been on several consoles as its Musou game

And of course

Fate/Grand Order is probably one of the biggest mobile games in the entire world, period, right up there with the likes of Monster Strike and Dokkan Battle.

So while Fate/Stay Night has never come over, Fate's still had a strong western presence. Hard not to when one of those things is Fate/Grand Order, a game soo profitable it gets its own discussion panel in Sony's investor's meetings.

HOWEVER, I don't think Saber has any chance for one reason.

Fate's hilariously xenophobic towards other franchises. They'll gladly let things IN, but they'll rarely let things OUT.

Kind of--Byleth IS a bad choice and lots of people felt burned by it. But he isn't the only character that may have turned people off of buying a second mystery package.

For me I only bought the DQ heroes, I don't think the other characters are worth $6.
I agree with the first sentence.
As far as the last- obviously it is your choice, but I never understood the idea of spending so much time speculating, and not being willing to drop 30 bucks on a pass.

me looking at the past 10+ pages on this thread

It's one of those days, huh?
Takes a sip of my Monster.

Yep. Luckily I've had something to distract me:

The entire series is worth a watch for how absurdly insane it can get, it's split between two YT channels (since two TASers worked on it).

Let this week be the week for a reveal...

PLEASE...

I’m at my limit my dudes
Is it time to Genkai Wo Koreu? :4pacman:

Nah, but seriously, yeah, also hoping for a reveal this upcoming week. Especially since there's very little other stuff for Nintendo to show (Pokemon and that's it? IIRC?).
