I want "someone having a stroke while making music" music in smash
At risk of going back to the sexualization argument, I really want 2B mostly for all of that amazing music.

But I’d also take Chrono tools to get remixes of that godly soundtrack. I still get emotional listening to it.

You really want to defend the idea that Sakurai simply isn't aware of a character who for many people, is THE visual novel character? Even if we ignore the entire decade of fan demand, the best argument you could have is how he's not in yet, which 1: Just goes to show how many beloved characters Capcom has and 2: Wow he didn't get in before the two Capcom mascots how shocking. There's no way in hell Sakurai is blissfully unaware of how popular Nick is in Smash circles, especially as Ace Attorney has a mostly Nintendo fanbase
To add to this, I also think it's worth addressing the "Does Nintendo care about AA/is aware of its popularity?" bit by pointing out that:
1- Ace Attorney (much like the Professor Layton series) is quite popular in Europe and NoE was well aware of this, with Satoru Shibata even cosplaying as the two protagonists for a skit during a Direct.

2-Miyamoto acknowledge that both AA and PL are both examples of well designed visual novels, and while the focus of this interview is to show how much creating a successful "adventure game" is an uphill battle nowadays, considering that just a few months later the FamiTam remake would be announced, I don't think it's too far out of the realm of possibility to say that the success of AA is one of the reasons why the Big N is confident enough to try another shot at their own murder-mystery VN... though I suppose they still not confident enough in it to bring it overseas, still being praised by Miyamoto it's nothing to sneeze at.

Really I don't think the problem with Phoenix is that "Nintendo/Sakurai isn't aware of the character and/or its demand", it's just that the completion with other Capcom characters it's abnormally steep.

I was thinking about Goku yesterday, and why I don't want him in Smash... First off, everybody seems obsessed with the Super Saiyan stuff, because teen angst, but that's always been to me when the series degraded. And look at what they can do from Z and on: they can disintegrate people with their signature moves, cut them in two, destroy planets, teleport... It's just too much. It's not on the scale of what Kirby can do. So anything "above 9000" really wouldn't fit in tone, and even if they did implement it, it wouldn't feel authentic because said Kirby would only be pushed a little from a charged Kamehameha instead of being obliterated for obvious balance reasons.

Which led me to think: the best part about Dragon Ball to me was always the first 16 volumes or so. When Goku is a kid/teen, when he has his tail, when they actually practice martial arts. When he's essentially a Monkey King ripoff. Those characters were so full of flavor, with cool movesets like the illusion moves, the nimbus, the stretching stick, turtle style martial arts, and when the worst calamity they had ever known struck the Earth in the form of Piccolo, they still fought in a martial arts tournament. That would make a character with such a cooler moveset, and much more in line with what the other fantastic or martial artist characters already in Smash can do.

That universe they essentially abandoned when they went with the Saiyan stuff is actually really close, borderline tied into what has been done for Dragon Quest by the same artist. Just a tad more modern.

Thoughts?
I get what you mean and I respect your opinion. But honestly I see it as a matter of Dragon Ball evolving over time and expanding it's world, the only way to go beyond Piccolo threatening the entire planet is to introduce super warriors who can obliterate said planet with ease, as a result the battles feel more cosmic than before. Likewise, Nimbus didn't disappear immediately after Z started. It stayed around a bit in the early episodes until the power scaling got higher and Goku learned to fly.

The appeal over Super Saiyan isn't a teen angst thing, it's an appeal over a legendary prophecy that has been foretold for centuries over how there will be a chosen one born someday. This was built up since the Saiyan arc and lead to it's culmination in the Namek arc. Now of course we take this for granted thanks to the numerous forms introduced since then but back then? It was easily one of the most hype moments in the entire story. Nay, I think it still it is the most hype moment in the entire story.

Now in regards to this clashing with Smash, I don't see it that way. It's not different from Joker shooting Kirby with a gun or Snake snapping Kirby's neck. If anything I'd say Goku firing giant lasers against Kirby is more fitting than the examples I mentioned previously. Goku does have special attacks like the spirit bomb which he can charge before throwing, or the destructo disc which functions as an energy boomerang. I can see Goku having a mechanic similair to Limit and Arsene where his down special is him charging up until he can turn into a super saiyan.

But all that aside, one thing I want to make clear is that Z doesn't necessarily invalidate Classic Dragon Ball. You could have Nimbus and the Power Pole as part of Goku's moveset and it wouldn't feel weird or out of place. Smash isn't a place like in Dragon Ball that takes power scaling seriously. You have god tier characters like Bayonetta in there fighting a dog and a duck. Goku using his old equipment wouldn't feel weird in that regard.

Now excuse me while I sit and think to myself why I wrote this essay when Goku has no chance in hell to make it in.

We all know that Goku has no chance, but the idea that he could get in is hilarious and is something a lot of people would probably want if they knew he could. Anyone who actively talks **** on Goku is either a party pooper or really ignorant. :nifty:

What songs do you want for your most wanted?
Well, have not talked much here about Dota 2's music. But even though it's "Unlikely as hell" for a multitude of reasons, it has some great tracks. My only problem with the soundtrack is that it's generally on the slow side (which might not fit Smash), but that has not stopped tracks from getting in. The most recently-released music bundle for Dota 2's World Championship, composed by Gareth Coker (Ori's composer) is filled to the brim with what to expect - orchestral to the max. And awesome orchestral music.

My most wanted soundtrack though... as stated rather recently, I absolutely adore Civilization's soundtrack, especially VI's (I've posted several tracks here recently). I was not sure if Sakurai would include folk songs or national anthems (which comprise a significant amount of Civ VI's soundtrack)... until I remembered that Tetris' theme itself is essentially a Russian folk song (Korobeiniki, about a peddler). That said, the composers generally did an amazing job with the material. They gave the American theme, "Hard Times Come Again No More" an Aaron Copeland vibe for the Industrial and Atomic eras; the Japanese, "Lullaby of Itsuki" becomes cyberpunk in the Atomic, while India's, "Vaishnava Janato Tene" is upbeat and serene throughout the game. I didn't mention IV's main theme "Baba Yetu" yet, or VI's main theme ("Sogno di Voltare") whose lyrics were written by Leonardo da Vinci...

...I'mma just gonna link the TV Tropes page for Civilization's Awesome Music. I'm fanboying too hard.

I doubt Civilization gets a playable character if only because of competition within 2K at large and because 2K in general doesn't seem like a liklely future third party. But damn.

Snake Man's stage from Metal Blade Solid
Finally, my RH Smash list being put to good use

Came up with 47 RH songs I deemed worthy or important enough to the series, along with the 3 already in Smash, round it out to 50. Also included what I envision the victory theme to be (the last track in the playlist) for my hypothetical RH character

Of course some will be remixed (Title theme medley for example)
If they add a Rhythm Heaven stage, I hope does something with the minigames as the gimmick. It would be amazing to play with the sound effects on.
EDIT: Albeit a bit distracting, but that's totally worth it since some of these songs just aren't the same without them.

Are you implying that Kirby is an invertebrate?
He probably is considering how easily he can pancake himself.

Hell yeah my friend. Goku is the only 4th party character I'd want to see in Smash, and I mean that legitimately. I know it'd never happen, and there's this whole issue that he'd "open the floodgates," but screw that, his inclusion would be hilarious and well-deserving in my opinion.

Everyone is always like "how dare you suggest Goku, this is for video game characters only!!! You cannot destroy our beautiful tradition!" But come on, don't have a stick up your ass, it's Goku!

I like to think Smash fans ended up cursing themselves by saying that's it? no smash? so much development actually tanked super hard after Min Min dropped and CP7 is nowhere near complete like when people cursed themselves saying Directs never existed before March's Direct Mini. At least with that you can say people set themselves up for that happening.

Anyways, we still got a whole week left until that ad drops. Even if a character reveal does happen before October 4th, it won't mean that character will drop around the same timeframe as their presentation since Byleth and Min Min were released at least over a week after they were revealed, so keep that in mind.

If I were to Put Goku in Smash, I would give him a Ki Bar that goes all the way to Level 7

His Specials are extremely strong (Like Kamehameha), but they take Ki to use. You can also Use Ki to Transform to All the Transformations, like Kaioken, to Super Sayian 1,2,3 (maybe 4 too), to Super Sayian God, to Super Sayian Blue (and Kaioken stacked on top), to Ultra Instinct. Each Transformation might also change the properties of the moves, or grant new moves to Goku

Since many people want Goku, I think they should make Super Smash Bros. vs Jump Anime. The fact that Anime characters can join the roster would be a Huge selling point that Ultimate doesn't have, even if not everyone comes back. I also think it's easier on negotations to do a Full Scale crossover with Jump rather than just adding in one Anime character

also, any of you guys Playing in the Official online Smash tournament today?

I've actually had that same idea for a while now as well. On top of it, kind of like PSASBR, one of my ideas would be rivalries with themes going for them. Some examples.

Captain Falcon (F-Zero) vs. Ryo Saeba (City Hunter)
Theme: Bounty Hunters

Donkey Kong (Donkey Kong) vs. Kondou Isao (Gintama)
Theme: Gorillas

Ganondorf (The Legend of Zelda) vs. Dio Brando (Jojo's Bizarre Adventures)
Theme: Unkillable Antagonists

Isaac (Golden Sun) vs. Gaara (Naruto)
Theme: Earthly Fighters

King K. Rool (Donkey Kong) vs. Blackbeard (One Piece)
Theme: Evil Pirates

Kirby (Kirby) vs. Toriko (Toriko)
Theme: Big Eaters

Link (The Legend of Zelda) vs. Jotaro Kujo (JoJo's Bizarre Adventures)
Theme: Stoic Silent Protagonists

Max Brass (ARMS) vs. All-Might (My Hero Academia)
Theme: Inspirational Heroes

Medusa (Kid Icarus) vs. Orochimaru (Naruto)
Theme: Serpentine Antagonists

Meta Knight (Kirby) vs. Kenpachi Zaraki (Bleach)
Theme: Honorable Rivals

Ness (EarthBound) vs. Gon Freecss (HunterxHunter)
Theme: Happy-go-lucky Adventurous Kids

Palutena (Kid Icarus) vs. Saori Kido (Saint Seiya)
Theme: Divine Mentors

Pokemon Trainer (Pokemon) vs. Yami Yugi/Yugi Muto (Yu-Gi-Oh!)
Theme: Summoners

Pikachu (Pokemon) vs. Killua Zoldyck (HunterxHunter)
Theme: Electric Fighters

Pit (Kid Icarus) vs. Pegasus Seiya (Saint Seiya)
Theme: Gods Chosen Champions

Ridley (Metroid) vs. Frieza (Dragon Ball Z)
Theme: Genocidal Aliens

Spring Man (ARMS) vs. Monkey D. Luffy (One Piece)
Theme: Stretchy Fighters

Takamaru (The Mysterious Murasame Castle) vs. Kenshin Himura (Rurouni Kenshin)
Theme: Samurais

Kirby's anatomy is one of the most fascinating mysteries. I don't think he has a single bone on his body.

Except maybe his feet. Those stompers look sturdy. Though I don't know what would be more disturbing: for Kirby to be just a ball of nerves and flesh holding itself in shape through sheer will, or that he's that but growing bones just for his feet. Just two big bones jutting out laterally at the bottom.

I never wanna see an x-ray of Kirby, that's for sure.

A-are you about to i-insinuate that you'd love to keep things that way?

D-don't make me go full tsundere! :4pacman:

Kirby should learn how to pancake like Pikachu.

Because I swear to ****ing whatever, the little-to-medium-sized rat can do **** like this:

There's a whole twitter account dedicated to Pancake-Chu.
