Clinical depiction of Smash fan afflicted with recency bias.

Subject appears hopeful but unaware of anything past this last week.

Prognosis is unfavourable.
Monster Hunter is someone I see releasing around the MHR range, but my estimate for that could be Challenger Packs 7, 8, or 9. Even then, they could still release later, since Monster Hunter's a big series that goes beyond Rise. It's just that Rise is a big exclusive, so I could see Nintendo wanting to time a potential pack around that time.

Travis could go wherever, though. We never got a specific release date for NMH3 even before the COVID delay, so who knows when that's gonna release. I don't think NMH3's at the same level of major exclusive as Rise, either, so there's less incentive for a push.

If the image didn't give you enough of a hint, this is gonna be an extremely hot take incoming

But if this next character isn't a Mario character, and one doesn't get shown off, then I'm going to be questioning the likelihood of us getting one period this pass.

While not impossible of course, but if any Mario character was coming, you'd figure they'd have them in before the Big Mario 35th Tournament, no? Or at the very least shown off.

Of course, this is just my opinion. They can 100% still come sometime later, but it's just my own thoughts on it.
At the very least, it would suggest that they're in the later half of the pass, if not the final third. If the 35th anniversary was planned in April and Min Min wasn't planned to be delayed, the original intent was most likely to have 3-4 characters this year. Since Nintendo would most likely want to have a Mario character around the same time as the Mario 35th anniversary celebration, they'd have to be one of the last two of the pass if they miss the celebration tournament, if they get in at all (And if we don't get them soon, that's gonna look pretty unlikely).

It is so ****ing nice that we are getting FP7 this month.

Also I am jealous of all of you. I am a slow gamer, and I haven't finished much games. ;-;
Look at my signature: I've only beat 5 games this year, and of them...

-Undertale and SMB3 are incredibly short
-World of Light was already 90% done, I just had to do the Galeem+Dharkon fight.

So basically only two. Over almost 10 months.

That's a classic thing of Smash Bros. speculation. Asking who's next just after we got the new character.

Though to be fair, in this case I think it's relatively normal. Technically we could say we didn't get Smash news since the Mini Direct of March where they announced ARMS as FP6. Also Nintendo being silent for most part of the year hasn't helped at all, but they're lately being more talkative.

I think it would be pretty neat if in the upcoming Sakurai Presents he says something about when we could expect the next fighters. I'm not asking about their identities, just some info about dates for next characters, just like most fighting games do with their DLCs.
If they're gonna take their sweet time revealing and releasing characters, they should at least take some notes from Capcom and give us a roadmap of when to expect them, like this...

Remember these 4 things:
Hype Responsibly
If we get an announcement and there is an announcement by a different company on the same day it does not mean that it is related
Games exist outside of Smash
Also there is a chance that Smash might not be this week

Why would you do this?

Why would you say something like this?

Why would you just

Tell lies?

On the internet?
sakurai is the only developer and smash is the only video game

those other games are all illusions, crafted by nintendo for the sake of fueling sakurai's grand vision

A lot of companies release a DLC roadmap (IIRC Bamco, Firaxis / 2K at large, Netherrealm etc.) - the only two exceptions I know off are Nintendo and Valve. Both Nintendo and Valve tend to be very secretive with their projects and DLC updates (hey there Half Life Alyx), and if I had to hazard a guess it's because the two are structured kinda (not completely) similarily.

Smash is love. Smash is life.

Shrek confirmed FP11 :4pacman:

Everyone's ass is going to be clenched as tight as possible.

Nah, I actually agree. This is gonna be do or die for Mario characters as DLC in this pass.

D..does that mean the Nintendo switch DOESN'T have games?!?!? (Outside of smash of course)
The simulation is finally coming to an end.

Soon, the whole world will awake, and realize the undeniable truth:

The Switch is Smash itself.

CP7 is a little Switch with arms and legs.

thank you for watching my very real Smash leak coverage video, please subsscrib, smash that like button, and buy my merch ok thx bye :nifty:

As for which first party character it could be:

It could be Rex because of XC2 being too late for the base game and FP2, similar to the position ARMS was, and too promote the series as a series they want to give attention to.

It could be a Super Mario character to tie into the series big 35th anniversary celebration, and because I doubt Nintendo would pass by the opportunity to promote their flagship series on such an occasion.

OR it could be Bandana Waddle Dee because **** the idea of the only viable first parties having to be tied to a promotion of sorts. This precedents needs to die, like, yesterday.

The most likely candidates for this next character are:
  • Rex & Pyra/Mythra
  • Melia
  • Riki
  • Cinderace
  • Intelleon
  • Travis
  • Monster Hunter
  • Palico
So naturally, it will be none of those characters because when has it ever been what we think it is? lol

If only.

I still don't see Pokémon news happening this week. Crown Tundra is still a month away, so unless they plan on dropping one smaller update every week (instead of a more substantial overview), I don't see it happening now.

I'm happy that my prediction of mid september was wrong by only one week or two at worst.

Also, that weird smash dream of mine, the sixth character was Travis, I remember now. I don't care much of him but it's cool that he was in that weird dream and now he seems likely.

I can't wait to see who the next fighter will be.

I have a pretty reaching theory that, if true, soft-deconfirms Palico. There are three Amiibo coming out for Monster Hunter. One of them is Palico, but none of them are "The Hunter" in any way. It's possible that The Hunter would instead receive an Amiibo if/when they get added to Smash. It's not a strong theory, but certainly possible

Follow the rules and everything will be okay
Everything will be okay
No one will have to die this time
Boi you know people be spillin' soda all over yo floors. You don' need to be so dramatic about it!

New Spirit event: Urshifu, Galarian Slowpoke, Calyrex, Galarian bird trio.

despite this, people will still expect a Gen 8 rep.
Nah, if we get a Pokémon DLC spirit event, then Pokémon's done. Sure the actually plausible candidates are still there, but the promotional opportunity has already been spent.

Unless of course they're planning on adding a character to promote the likely Gen 4 remakes next year but...nah.

I'm still sticking with Isaac on the basis of being a Banjo-type character to be revealed at E3, though if Min Min wasn't going to be delayed he could easily be CP8 too. My other gut feeling for FP2 is an indie character, specifically Reimu, but I don't think a character like her is really E3 material.

The biggest issue with that is that Mario 1 2 3 and Isabelle 1 2 3 weren't really stopped though, neither was link or inkling

Another issue is that while the ability to say "this Amiibo is compatible with Super Smash Bros. and Monster Hunter" is good cross-promotion, they'd have to skip Banjo & Kazooie (I think), Terry, Byleth, and Min Min's Amiibo in order to do that.

Good points. It could be a different case when it comes to MH, but like I said, it's not the most sound theory anyway. All we can do is wait and see what happens

They wouldn't. We would just be waiting a long while for the Hunter Amiibo. The others would all come out first. Though, if they did B&K and Terry around December, and did Byleth and Min Min early Marchish, they could come out with a Hunter Amiibo only a couple months after Rise's release. Or, maybe even release Hunter in the same wave as Byleth and Min Min, which would be good timing. So it would rely on Nintendo coming out with the Amiibo in a quick, but not unrealistically quick, fashion.

What if real life is Smash Bros, because people smash in real life?

For example, in construction work, people smash buildings.

WHAT IF EVERYTHING IS SMASH BROS?
