Anyway, it's honestly a bit scummy that 3D All-Stars doesn't really seem to have that many touch-ups. . . but I never actually played Sunshine, so I suppose I'll put on the clown-nose and get it anyway.

This ****ing sucked I was promised Super Dunban Sunshine.

In all seriousness, wild that 3 years in the Switch's lifecycle, Nintendo planned a Wii U port as their holiday title
And then it's not even X. The audacity.

I'm kinda worried about the limited retail version. I definitely want this game but it could very well be that it'll be unavailable by Christmas.

Galaxy 2? No, we have no plans of releasing a sequel to Super Mario Galaxy.
Interestingly enough, they didn't, but they made too much to fit on the first disk for DLC. lol

So they ended it of with a medley, huh. With that length I was convinced Smash would show up. There isn't any Mario character I'm hoping for so it's no skin of my back it ended that way, tho I'm sure some people won't particularly be happy with that.

Atleast those remasters are out of the way.
With how big this was, I wouldn't be entirely surprised if this meant that there are no Super Mario characters coming as DLC.

Also they're just ports.

I'm not a huge fan of Nintendo making 3D All-Stars a limited time release. I get they want to maintain some value in these games for the future, but it's kinda a **** move to make the Switch port of three of their most popular games a timed exclusive.

Nintendo, if you want to beat emulation, putting arbitrary time limits on your rereleases is the wrong way to do it.

God I’m hyped for the remasters, so glad that they are real.

Also kind of sad now because I’m pretty sure if Geno or Waluigi were getting in they’d have shown up here... maybe we can still hope for them as bonus fighters down the line

Not necessarily, the direct was only focusing on the mainline Mario games and Mario Kart, not the other spin-offs. Mario Kart is honestly big enough at this point to be just as important to Nintendo as the mainline titles.

Mario tourney will be in November/December.
Inb4 the "this means fighter 7 is a Mario rep, cuz why are they waiting until then?" crowd come running

I personally don't think it means anything, but I know some people will get carried away with this lol.

Same here. I want to wait until december, but I can't be sure it will still available. :/

Literally why?
Just a reminder that you can still buy the Crash N. Sane Trilogy 3 years after it originally released. Same goes for Mario 64 and Mario Galaxy on the Wii U eShop which were available there for much longer than 6 months.

There is literally no reason for Nintendo to make this a timed exclusive like what the actual **** were they thinking?

How was that disappointing?

We got the 3D Mario Collection and 3D World DLC.

I was waiting for the 3D Mario Collection forever.
It was all ports of old games. Not a single remaster. I can already play these games on an emulator or on my console so it's just disappointing to me.

You forgot how N.Sane Trilogy was never 60 bucks to begin with and regularly goes on sale for 20 bucks

I get why this is the case, but it's still strange that you can't use Yoshi or Wario in the Mario Tournament.
Smash really needs to improve its acknowledgement that Yoshi is a Mario subseries. It's a huge problem when the stage for Super MARIO World can't play Mario songs, including an SMW remix made for that stage.

Full price for Super Mario 3D All-Stars huh? Probably going to have to pass on that. I can bust out the Wii and play two thirds of it.

I know, but, if they intended to add a Super Smash Bros. character as a part of the 35th anniversary, it would probably still be there. Not saying they can't be added without that, but I think this does make Waluigi and Geno a lot less likely.

That's not exactly a legal option though.

Nice to see that Super Mario Land 2 still does not exist, along with Galaxy 2 and NSMB 2/U (but honestly who cares about NSMB games).
Probably means they just didn't cover sequels.

Honestly this felt like a bit of a monkey's paw presentation.

  • A new online Mario Battle Royal game... that will only be active for six months
  • New Mario Kart title... that's tied in with toy race cars
  • Mario 3D Collection... that doesn't have Galaxy 2, doesn't have 64 in widescreen, possibly doesn't allow the Pro Controller for Galaxy and is limited run for some reason.

I'm happy at some of it, but this was no slam dunk.

Board games and lego and ****
Kinder Eggs you can choke on
That's obviously the IP Expansion that Nintendo's been focusing on recently (probably because they'd rather not have super-lean years like the Wii U period). The products are (with the corps they're working with in paranthesis):

RS-Dreamer Super Mario 64 sneakers (Puma)
Childrens' overalls (BlackMilk)
Mario Monopoly and Jenga (Hasbro)
Action figures (Jakks-Pacific)
LEGO Super Mario / NES

Anyway, it's honestly a bit scummy that 3D All-Stars doesn't really seem to have that many touch-ups. . . but I never actually played Sunshine, so I suppose I'll put on the clown-nose and get it anyway.

And then it's not even X. The audacity.
There are a couple things I'm wondering about:

Will 64 be based off of the Shindou re-release from '97 (which removed the BLJ)?
While the Galaxy port is likely based on the China-exclusive Nvidia Shield port (since the Nvidia Shield and Switch share the same processor) from 2018, will there be further changes?

Clearly it's because Nintendo doesn't like new Sunshine copies being available
"Aaaw ****, do we really have to manufacture new GCN controllers again? Why can't people move on to our new shiny toys*?"

*What I'm reffering to:

In a very telling interview with ESPN, Regis Fils-Aimé former President of Nintendo America, quietly nudges the Smash community to just drop that dead old title.

“First, the community themselves need to rally around a particular title,” Reggie said. “We had some Melee players get their hands on the game, and they were quite excited — we could see a consolidation of Smash play, competitive play, behind Ultimate, which in our view would be fantastic. Because what that would then enable us to do is again, standardize the rules of play, make sure that the setups, the wired controllers, all of that is there, so that there’s no more excuses. There’s no Johns!”

Yup. Mario character supporters will definitely eat this up.

As for the Direct, it was okay? The limited release for the 3D collection is a strange choice, and it’s coming in like two weeks, that’s an unusually short time between announcement of this caliber and release. Kinda bummed that they’re just ports, so not interested in getting it really. Otherwise, all good, giving another Wii U game a second chance via 3D World (XCX when??).

Oh, Cat Mario and Cat Peach amiibo are cool, no idea why I got excited about those of all things lol.

umm...the tweet reads:

“In November and December, players can participate in an online tournament centered around Super Mario. You can play with Mario characters, stages, items, music, and more. Also, Birdo will be Fighter #7. Deal with it.”

Yeah but it'll be the only way to play those games in HD once the timed exclusivity runs out.

That really sucks. Super Mario Land 2 is a way better than the first one.

Galaxy without motion controls was pretty much what I was most excited about with the 3D Collection, if motion controls are still mandatory then that's a bit of a bummer.

Honestly, I'm just glad they did something for Mario's birthday - even if it was shadowdropped with no ceremony at all.

Of the things that got announced, the most interesting stuff was Bowser's Fury and Mario 99 35 - even though I think making the latter available for a limited time is a **** move on Nintendo's part.

I'm curious as to why they didn't port Galaxy 2 along with 1, but oh well. And also why we're gonna have to wait for the Mario-themed Smash tourney. Like, why not make it this week's?

I trust you, Japanese-American man I've never listened to before
