Can someone please explain to me what Nintendo's Xmas game plan is? Just Mario 3d All Stars, that releases in 2 weeks?
I think it's supposed to be Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury, actually. Still odd but ok.

Odd news is better than no news after all.
EDIT:
If I have to make a guess it was probably 3D World but it got delayed to February thanks to covid.
lol never mind. I guess they don't have one.

Y'know, I'm kind of surprised that they didn't cap the direct off with the announcement of a new Mario game to celebrate 35 years of Mario. I mean, I figured an anniversary would be porting over old classics to the newer system (very happy to see All Stars coming to virtual SNES), but you'd think they would end things with "hey, here's a new Mario Sports game!" or "Coming this Spring, get ready to go on another Odyssey!" as like a teaser at least.

Honestly speaking, we all are 'ok' with that, but from an investor standpoint, your only major Holiday selling points being Pokemon DLC dropped 2 months (likely October) before Christmas and Mario ports consisting of games 7 years old or more is NOT OK.

This won't be the only thing coming. We'll probably have to wait til October to see their real gameplan for the Holidays.

So much for "64 HD could become the best version for speedrunning"
Nintendo: "Hey I see you've found a glitch."
Players: "Yeah! It doesn't break anything for other people and makes this playstyle so much fun!"
Nintendo: ***** gun "Unacceptable! This glitch just wa'd it's last hoo."

EDIT: Kinda figured it'd be censored on account of its other meaning but eh. Feel free to insert whatever word makes this the funniest to you.

There was a problem fetching the tweet

Still an amazing speedrunning game (especially 7:13 where the speedrunner wall-kicks off of nothing):

But still, RIP "So long-eh Bowser!" and BLJ.

OH. MY. GOODNESS...
snorlax OP his 2 sec slow + earthquake literally win teamfights around control points

Funny thing is the BLJ was first discovered by players in 2000, years after the Rumble Pak version of SM64 fixed it.

That was it? Some ports that are going to the Nintendo vault in a couple months & a Wii U port? They couldn’t even tease that they’re working on a new Mario game?

Oof. At this rate, I’d rather just wait until 2021 for the next Smash Character. 2020 has been nothing but disappointing for game reveals.

Nah I expect people to unironically defend Nintendo on this and try claiming we're ungrateful for being unhappy at the sheer audacity of a game being limited release for less than a year. I see people like that on twitter plenty and even a few of those types here
Yeah I've seen some of those already on Twitter. I don't get it.
I mean by complaining I don't want to ruin the excitement of others, but if anything this worries me because it will sell well (because it's Mario) and if they seriously decide to repeat this move with future ports/collections it would be incredibily disappointing. Luckily I'm not a diehard Mario fan but if they decide to repeat this move with, idk, the Prime Trilogy, I'd be really angry and sad lol

I think it was exciting for me, because I have never really played 64, Sunshine, or Mario Galaxy, but...
Sorry but this is absolutely ****ty. It doesn't make any sense. We all know that if Activision made the exact same thing with the Tony Hawk remaster everyone would bash Activision to hell. Don't know if people will do the same with Nintendo because most of them seem to be happy of having first party news, but the only way to solve this is to complain.

This decision has literally killed my interest for this collection (the lack of Galaxy 2 doesn't help as well). Seriously, Nintendo sometimes makes really absurd and prehistoric decisions. This is anti-consumer as hell if you ask me.
I agree with what you said, that is a very harsh thing for Nintendo to do.

Do they want people to pirate?

I have a bit more faith in Nintendo than to expect them to do that, but I certainly wouldn't want a The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time/Majora's Mask/Twilight Princess collection to be like this, and since that's a more comparable collection to the Super Mario 3D collection, I can totally see them doing that.

EDIT: Nintendo, plz no.

I wanna get 3D All Stars because I've never beaten Sunshine and haven' played Galaxy since I was a kid, but I agree that Nintendo isn't going about this in the best way. Especially with a time limit to buy the game. Also literally no changes to Mario 64?

The scariest thing about this isn't just Nintendo repeating this move, but other developers following suit as well.

At least people can officially buy Sunshine again

For about 6 months
another reason why it should of been its own game. Its either I buy the game for sunshine and ignore the other two games or skip the game because I only want one of the games and miss out because its in a timed exclusive pack

I'm legit confused.

Nintendo is literally begging for people to pirate Sunshine.
Because Nintendo is subbly telling folks that Sunshine sucks and you shouldn't buy nor pirate it lol

Anyways, could it be the fact that there is pandemic? And this is something that had a limited amount of demand?

  1. No. If they couldn't make too many retail copies due to COVID-19, they would have just said so, kept the online release going indefinitely, and maybe provided more retail copies later.
  2. lol no. This is the kind of thing people eat up. Like, if enough people bought the New Super Mario Bros. U collection then people will sure as heck buy this.
No, this is unfortunately a conscious decision on Nintendo's part to be anti-consumer.

Parden, what is BLJ?
I'll explain it, but first, I'll have to explain parallel universes...

I still have my original copy of Sunshine for GC, but I wouldn't mind buying it again at a reasonable price for an handheld console.
Though, the battery of my 3DS exploded recently (not really but almost... it looks like a big pillow), so I fear that in a couple of years my Switch Lite will meet the same doom... I'm not sure if it's worth to buy again a game that I already own and which in a few years I won't be able to play anymore. Spare parts exist, but in 10 years from now, will new batteries for Switch Lite still exist? In the meanwhile, aside of a line of black pixels that appeared a couple of years ago, my Gameboy Pocket still works.

Wow guys the pandemic has a nasty effect of digitally erasing games from existence, luckily, only the collection of some of the most beloved games for the 64, GC and Wii were affected

Wait, that would mean this is the first virus to affect both humans and computers. Alert the presses! This is history in the making!

The Mario fan in me is very excited. Lots of cool collectables, 3D World is getting a deluxe version ported to Switch, and the 3D all-stars game looks great. I'm even excited about the simple things, like Super Mario furniture in New Horizons.

The Smash fan in me isn't surprised at all that we didn't get a new character. This is exactly why I don't get hyped because something weird happened or a pattern suggests we're getting something soon.

They made changes! They removed the "So long! King Bowser!" clip because everyone thought it said "So long! Gay Bowser!"

EDIT: Gotta keep that squeaky clean record!
It was actually because the Japan-only Rumble Pak version is being ported and they didn't have a clip of Mario saying "King Koopa" for Japan.

I still haven't decided what to do with the collection but I'm also only interested in Sunshine... I have both Galaxy and 64 (DS) already but the only one I want to replay over and over is Sunshine because I just like it.

I hope they added the total amount of blue coins for each level in the map, because each level has a different amount of blue coins and at a certain point of the game it's impossible to tell where the missing ones are unless you look at a guide on Internet. It's enough if instead of (example) "28" they changed it to "28/30" so you know that you are missing only two coins in that level. Additional hints are not needed... the levels are complex and some coins are hidden in very unintuitive places, but the levels are also small enough that you can easily try everything and find the secrets on your own.
