...Who?So, do we all agree Plok would be an interesting choice?
More like the only choice amirite? So, do we all agree Plok would be an interesting choice?
Nintendo chooses the characters, but Sakurai is involved in negotiation with the developers. The statements from the DQ team and the Rare guys indicate as much.Personally, I don't see why that would be an issue. Nintendo chooses the characters, not Sakurai, and Sakurai has stated that sometimes he meets with the developer, but most of the time Nintendo does the negotiations. Either way I don't think any of the negotiations would be made public anyways. Besides, the rights could've been negotiated by Nintendo rather than Sakurai, with Sakurai going to Yoko Taro later on for pointers for 2B's development.
Going by the interview about Hero, Sakurai is actually pretty involved in the pitching process for the character.Personally, I don't see why that would be an issue.
So more then likely, Sakurai would be in early negotiations for the character.Originally, Masahiro Sakurai didn’t think it was possible for Dragon Quest to come to Super Smash Bros., but Nintendo believed there was a chance it could happen. So Sakurai made a presentation to Square Enix, really hoping to get Hero for Ultimate but being open to other characters, such as monsters, to appear instead.
Much to his surprise, Square Enix agreed to allow Hero pretty quickly, “partially because of Sakurai’s passion, and partially because the ‘best of’ element in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate was quite similar to that of Dragon Quest XI S.” Yuji Horii acknowledged that it would have been difficult in the past to allow Hero to battle other heroes, but the rise of games like Dragon Quest Rivals (Japanese digital card game) has normalized such things.
oh boy. uh...Ok so here's an interesting idea, take your current backlog and put some protags from them in Smash when applicable. For me, that'd be Rayman, Kiryu, Miriam/Zangetsu, Deus Ex protag (I know nothing about this franchise lmao), Gordon Freeman, Lara Croft, Master Chief, Kain from Legacy of Kain, Adol Christin and Estelle Bright. Looking at my list, I'd say I'd be happy if a few of these got in
Lets go Layton fans, lets goI am french and I say the french should not be trusted, ESPECIALLY those on that site x) (I know it 'cause I lurked there for a bit when I was younger, it can be quite the hell hole there)
As much as I would love to FINALLY see Level 5 representation in Smash (and Layton as a character of course) I still will remain pessimistic, after all I've already abandoned all hope for Layton to ever be in Smash at this point even with still 5 fighters coming :')
ditch all of that and go play peter griffin's 60 hour religious tradwife evangelion simulator 64oh boy. uh...

Yes, I am aware of the significant size of my backlog. With the additional time I have due to quarantine, maybe I can knock a chunk of it out. This'll probably last me a significant amount of years though, which is good because I find myself increasingly less interested in newer games for the most part, aside from some certain series (Kingdom Hearts, Persona, and Nier). In case any of you are worrying about my wallet, I bought a large majority of these games (like 80%) at a significant discount or am emulating them.
I'll probably scoop up some more Playstation games since Playstation is always running flash sales on a large amount of their first and third party titles, which means I can get them for 50% or more off (take notes Nintendo).
Short answer:...Who?
I'd look it up, but I fear of what Google Images would give me.
actually the b.est pick. lets go plokSo, do we all agree Plok would be an interesting choice?
At the least, wasn't he at least big during the Ballot era. I remember Smash 4 Layton was very Popular, I remember seeing him on alot of Smash 4 wanted fighter lists. Though I don't know if that transitioned to the ballot era though. I'm gonna assume it didLayton has the great misfortune of hitting his peak right before third-parties in Smash became a more common phenomena, so his popularity never got off the ground as well as it could've had the timing been different.
Though it sounds like things played out a bit differently in Europe.
We didn't even get a spirit for Tin Star, a Software Creations game that Nintendo actually owns. So, do we all agree Plok would be an interesting choice?
Layton has always been at his peak in Europe, heck, that's pretty much where Level-5 performs best asides from Japan.Layton has the great misfortune of hitting his peak right before third-parties in Smash became a more common phenomena, so his popularity never got off the ground as well as it could've had the timing been different.

There was some support but he was probably overshadow by other more popular third party. At the least, wasn't he at least big during the Ballot era. If they did go with a less popular platforming mascot, I think only one question would come to mind:Seriously though, I wouldn't mind it if one of the choices was a more obscure platformer mascot, provided the game itself was actually kind of cool, like Plok or I-Ninja or some **** like that.
Not really. Layton was most popular post-Brawl, and probably at the outset of the Smash 4 phase, which is not the best time to be popular for a third-party, considering none were explicitly included based on popularity from that era. By the ballot I don't recall his popularity being anything noteworthy. At the least, wasn't he at least big during the Ballot era. That's really not the picture painted of how the process works from the DQ and Rare reports. The key players regarding the character all seem to be involved from pretty much the inception, or very soon afterwards. My view on the Yoko Taro bit is that, when you think about it, if 2B isn’t earlier on the pass there’s no reason to meet and talk about gameplay yet.
Sakurai also mentioned awhile back that meetings would need to be delayed regarding certain fighters.
If 2B were Fighter 7, or even Fighter 8, it’d probably have an impact. But I don’t think they’re meeting upon acquisition of the license- they likely meet with the parties involved to work out design/gameplay discussions. They likely meet closer to when the work is to commence.
At least, that makes more sense to me than the dev team meeting with Yoko Taro and other devs about ideas regarding a character when they aren’t going to start work or have anything to present in a meeting until roughly a year later.
Basically, acquisition and development meetings aren’t taking place at the same time, so in that sense Sakurai and Yoko Taro wouldn’t have to meet only to get licensing of the character. It seems plausible to me for those to be two entirely separate meetings.
Doesn’t mean I think 2B is a lock or something, I just don’t think that’s a done deal.
William has a lot of options in Nioh. There are katanas, dual swords, spears, axes, and kusarigama to name a few different weapons. Each of these has access to high, mid, and low stances with different moves and techniques. And that's not even getting into ranged weapons, Onmyo Magic/consumables, Living Weapons, and ki pulsing/management.So basically unlimited pain. Good to know.
On a more serious note, how would he play in Smash? Would he have any special gimmicks, or would he be more simple in nature?
Nintendo probably feels like the homeowner that is afraid to lose an arm if they give them anything.
How everyone feels waiting on any legitimate information from Nintendo to be revealed. We're in a drought, folks
I'll just do an abridged backlog, because my backlog is stupidly large. Also, I'll leave out cases where the most obvious choice is already in Smash (for example, Dragon Quest 8 with or Dragon Quest 3 with )Ok so here's an interesting idea, take your current backlog and put some protags from them in Smash when applicable. The point is that Banjo in Smash was the result of Nintendo working with Microsoft on the Minecraft ports, Craig Duncan said as much.Well, Minecraft also exists on Playstation and I don't foresee Master Chief showing up in any Sony IPs.
His gimmick would be that quitting out from Smash Bros will make him disappear, making you have to re-download the DLC again every time you want to play as him. It would be a neat little reference to his game not having a damn save feature! So, do we all agree Plok would be an interesting choice?
Yes, it did open the door, but my point is that Minecraft will probably stick around as multi-platform regardless of the closeness between companies, as evidenced by its continued presence... everywhere, so it's not a great barometer to gauge the level of cooperation between Microsoft and Nintendo. The point is that Banjo in Smash was the result of Nintendo working with Microsoft on the Minecraft ports, Craig Duncan said as much.
Who saved Rare?
Eight years ago, Eurogamer printed the article 'Who killed Rare?' It was a sad read for fans of the studio. It came at …www.gamesindustry.biz
If they keep working with Microsoft to bring Minecraft to future Nintendo platforms (they will, otherwise it's a big PR disaster for both companies), then I don't see why they wouldn't be able to bring back Banjo.
At this point, it doesn't even serve the purpose of a promotional pick.I just think that 10 Pokémon is enough and there's no need for a new one as DLC. Lol.
After Kazooie left him, Banjo was never the same.

#NiNoKuniGangAnd I mean, I can't speak for the French speculation scene, but Phoenix Wright and 2B are already popular in the American speculation scene. Layton gets his fair share of mentions now and again. Jibanyan is the only one who doesn't get brought up much. If the leak's goal is to get people talking about characters they weren't before, it doesn't hit that goal for American speculators.
It's not about the number, it's about the character itself. A purchase based on a promotional Pokémon character would be more like "hmm. I quite like this soccer bunny (or spy lizard if they go with that instead) and it's one of the main partners you can have in the new game. There's also some new DLC coming out that I could get started with right away if I wanted to. Maybe I will check out the newest Pokémon game."At this point, it doesn't even serve the purpose of a promotional pick.
What person, at this point, that doesn't already play Pokemon games, is gonna go "Well, the first 10 Pokemon in Smash didn't get me. But now that there's ELEVEN I guess I better try it out." Not to mention, Pokemon is one of the most popular gaming franchises ever. It doesn't really need promotion.
And the converse is just as true. What Pokemon fan is like "Hmm, now that there's 11 Pokemon in this Smash Bros. thing, I guess I should maybe pick it up."
Actually I kinda can argue around that. The same applies to FE. What FE fan that might pick up Smash hasn't already? And what Smash fan that might pick up FE hasn't already? These picks promote nothing.
Does this also include Smash fans Like Ed Boon?Honestly I think Smash fans just need to stop seeing Smash as a "seal of approval" or "sign of worth."
It'd make a lot of fans feel much better if they felt that way.
Yeah honestly.Does this also include Smash fans Like Ed Boon?
