Are there any "Credible Insiders" that people still believe floating around? Game Awards 2019 I think destroyed that entire segment, at least to my knowledge.

Right. People seem to really appreciate these stage cameos. It's probably because they are non-disruptive and stick around for most of the match.

I like the ones on Spiral Mountain and King of Fighters Stadium for respectively being quite lively and having lots of them.

They are, however, limited to characters from the same series.

Yes that is what I mean. I will welcome Graham with open arms. He's kinda cute, in a derpy sort of way. That and we could have Apple, Clay, Flurry, Hamlet, Hamphrey, Rodney, and Soleil as alternate costumes. I don't know anything about these hamsters but dang are they cute. Except Rodney. He looks like that smug bully you see in kid's TV shows.

That's why I suggested a GBA stage that could have cameos from various characters from GBA games. I think it would be neat to have a stage dedicated to each Nintendo syatem. We almost have this with Dreamland GB and Pictochat. But those still focus one one thing from that system rather than the system as a whole.

Ahem. Sorry to go off topic for so long. Speaking of cameos. I'm sure the ARMS stage will feature all the non-playable fighters in the background. It seems like all the DLC stages do this.

I don't find Spring Man particularly interesting (nothing about his character, design, or play style grabs me - I'd prefer basically any other playable ARMS character aside from Springtron or maybe Lola Pop), and my experience with League of Legends has been frustrating in general (plus, I have absolutely no idea who's popular or important, which doesn't help), but I'd be getting all of my top three most wanted as well as Rayman, who's up there, so I wouldn't complain if this wound up actually being the line-up.

Honestly there's a ton of different reasons someone might like RNG in a game.

Yeah, but in a multiplayer game, the #1 reason is still "I'm not very good, but I still get to win sometimes cause of luck!"

It's just about making bad players feel better. Which is the entire reason Smash/Mario Party/Mario Kart do it.

There's nothing that's objectively, except for SSBU since people will defend every single decision that was ever made and because it's some unholy sin to think that this game might have made some bad decisions.

Not me. I rhink he's made a bunch of bad roster choices over the years. Characters who never should have made it past Assist Trophy level.

Sure! I already get characters I hate. If I can guarantee getting my most wanted as well, that's pure improvement!

Finally, Assist Trophies don't help the character's image either. Because Starfy has been a pathetic AT for years, people unfamiliar with the series think he's a pathetic joke. Very few people are interested in playing his games. There wasn't a big boom of new Starfy fans because they put that AT in there.

I disagree. For every Starfy, there's an Isaac, who, honestly, most people wouldn't even know who he was without his AT appearances.

Well, you just confessed to being a Code Name: S.T.E.A.M. fan, so I have to at least like the comment for that.

Although... how would a hamster even play in Smash? The only combatitive hamsters I know are Gundham Tanaka's pe-I MEAN, patron deities, the Four Dark Devas of Destruction.

Mario Kart does it because the game is more fun when it's a competition and not a curb stomp. It's an attempt at closing in the skill gap so the best player isn't just racing by themselves as well as to have just wacky fun where everyone has to stay on their toes.

Also Mario Party is a board game. Those things are inherently random in order to add risk to pretty much anything you do.

Vergeben has had a great track record when it comes to Smash Ultimate however he's said very little surrounding the DLC, likely because as has been stated, DLC is an entirely different ballgame. He recently did say that he would investigate the LoL 4chan leak.

At this point I think we can stop talking about Cacomallow leak. It has been 5 months since the leak and 2 characters got released (Terry and Byleth) and they didn't have Doom or Mallow costume. I doubt they had costumes finish that early so I think it was definitely fake.

I guess I've sort of already pushed the button. At the risk of being berated for saying something negative about FE in Smash, Byleth (or any 3H rep) was one of the characters I wanted the least. Still waiting on that Gen 8 or Zelda rep.

To be honest though, there aren't many characters who invoke a strong negative reaction from me. I care more about getting the characters I like than I do avoiding the ones I don't, so pushing the button is an easy decision for me.

As much as I want Doom Slayer I really don't think it's happening. In addition to the devs pretty much bluntly stating he's not in, I just don't think a Western character with little traction in Japan would be picked by Nintendo.

Even Sakurai was wary about Banjo due to the language barrier. If we get another Western fighter it will probably only be one. And I feel like Nintendo would approach someone else for some other character.

How long exactly do people think content is made for Smash in advance? Do we have any hints we could use to figure it out? It might seem unreasonable that the Caco and Mallow hats haven't been implemented yet but who knows. Maybe the (non Wii U third party) Mii costumes for Fighter Pass 1 were finished long before all the fighters were and they just sat on them until it was the appropriate time to release.

You defended Nightmare as an Assist Trophy, a damn NPC that turns the screen black for 15 seconds. In the eyes of some many of you Sakurai can't do anything wrong. Makes me wonder why he should even try when he can just half ass the game and everyone will just eat it all up.

You could always turn off items if you personally have an issue with it.

Lol this is a party game. Nightmare’s ability is fine, it’s good to have abilities like that. They screw everyone over so that you don’t become 100% reliant on it. Besides most people play with items off if they are playing competitively so kind of a weird thing to be upset by.
However it would be cool to select what Pokémon and Assist trophies come out so that you can make custom matches like the spirit event and maybe submit them.

There are things that Nintendo/Sakurai have screwed up on, but assist trophy abilities isn’t really one of em.For example:

-Byleth as DLC. Should’ve just been base roster.

- Spirits replacing Trophies. Sure the spirits are less work for developers, but as a player seeing some of these Older characters transition to a 3D model was worth collecting them for.

-Taking out features from previous games. The fan fare is great, but I think the term ultimate should be reserved for a game that has all of its previous iterations’ features. Like break the target and character move customization.

- Same formula gets old. It’s not that it’s getting old, but Sakurai/Nintendo need to really look into what makes other fighting games great. Maybe Introduce Generic and special Tag team moves between characters would be cool in my opinion. Like Mario riding Yoshi. But make them additional features optional.

-Reusing Mii costumes as dlc packs. The mii costume options are very limiting in the base copy. I personally hate how Nintendo has handled mii costume dlc.

Three Houses came out 8 months after Ultimate and by the time Ultimate released we only had 1 trailer for the game and a spring 2019 date which it didn't even make. It was pretty much impossible to include him in the base roster.

Nah. Way I see it, if I press it, we get a good character and a bad character. If I don't, there's a chance that we get two good characters, even if none of them is my most wanted.

Then again, this is very easy to claim when both my most and my least wanted fluctuate by the hour.

Yep.

I'll get my most wanted character and my most hated character would at least shut up its fanbase. Plus, it's not like I have to play as a character I dislike and even purchase it in the first place.

It seems like a win-win to me.

But there's also a chance that we get two bad characters.

In fact there are way more characters in all of video games I wouldn't want than ones I want. So the chance of getting 2 bads is really high!

So on the one hand, Elma would make it in, which is good. But on the other hand, Rex would make it in.
. . .Eh, that way one of the big reasons why I don't want Rex in is taken care of, since Elma's in as well. As long as the little **** then comes with some good music like Zeke's battle theme and the Torna battle theme, I'd be alright with it.
