That's the most redundant way to end a statement, no ****.
Says the guy who's been trying to say otherwise all day.

There's nothing that's objectively, except for SSBU since people will defend every single decision that was ever made and because it's some unholy sin to think that this game might have made some bad decisions. You defended Nightmare as an Assist Trophy, a damn NPC that turns the screen black for 15 seconds. In the eyes of some many of you Sakurai can't do anything wrong. Makes me wonder why he should even try when he can just half ass the game and everyone will just eat it all up.
I'm not at all saying that Ultimate doesn't have flaws, I just don't think Assist Trophies in general are one of them. Also, Smash fans are some of the most spoiled fanbases out there and they yell about the smallest things. Do you really think they're going to love a half baked entry in the series? People are already foreseeing its downfall due to scope creep.

The last thing I'll say on the matter (since we should really get back on topic) is that I wasn't defending Nightmare so much as explaining that he doesn't punish the one who summoned him so much as he makes it harder for anyone to do anything, thus adding to the chaos. I don't really care about him one way or the other though I do see why he's one of the more hateable designs; At least the Nintendog's cute.

Just out of curiosity, how many people are still intrested in collecting amiibo? Are there any out of these that you'd buy?
You accidentally erased the closing bracket to the start of the spoiler box code.

Also, no. I never really collected them to begin with. I kinda wish they were used to activate side crossover content, like unlocking Fox in Xenoblade Chronicles X or something.

How many bans must a man hold down
Before you give more than a ban?
How many times will the warnings fail
Before they'll understand?
Yes and how many times will we have to stand by
Before mods use a harder hand?
The answer, my friend, is unlimited
The answer's unlimited
Can confirm. Four bans in the past 2 months and I'm still here.

I want them all.
I want them all.
I want them now.
I want them all.

...I can't remember the rest of the normal lyrics.

But all Smash ones must be mine, and some extras I like too. I intentionally am even putting my MegaMan amiibo next to a Venom Disney Action Figure on my shelf cause they're my classic Marvel VS Capcom team~

Here's a question for you all: If there was a button that added your most wanted character as DLC, but pressing it also added your most hated character (that isn't already in the game) as DLC. For example, if I were to press the button, Amaterasu would be in the game, but so would Kirsty.

Would you press the button?

I'll say again while yes Rayman lacks popularity in Japan, what goes in his favor is Nintendo's and Ubisoft's great relationship, so I could see Nintendo adding Rayman as a result of their friendship.

I mean he did appear as an trophy in Sm4sh. Keep that in mind.
The fact that the Altair and Rabbids costumes came with Byleth kills any chance of an Ubisoft rep, in my opinion.

I expected this to be announced soon but with this whole situation I guess we'll have to wait.

I have some amiibos, the ones I have are characters I like a lot or from franchises I really enjoy. I wouldn't consider myself as an amiibo collector, but I wouldn't lie if I said that there are some amiibos I'd like to pick. Cloud or Bayo for example, but these two are hard to find and usually expensive.

From the fighter pass I'd buy Joker and Terry for sure, and probably Erdrick if they decide to give each Hero an amiibo.

The Mii Costumes don't exactly have to be from Ubisoft upon Rayman's inclusion, but if they are there are some other characters they can pick like Globox.
They can also pick a different Ubisoft rep that is more popular over in Japan, like Ezio.

So #FixUltimateOnline is trending on Twitter right now. It'd be nice if they do manage to fix it by June at least, but I doubt it.

Eh, it took like a year for Nintendo to actually fix the Mario Maker 2 online, we'll see by Summer 2021. :nifty:

I'm such a sucker for collectables. I really want to start training them all up, but it's cool to just have them sitting there on the shelf.

I definitely will get amiibo for any of the characters I add to the game, depending on what DLC I want to get. Still haven't bought any yet, but I know that I'm getting BK eventually. The others? We'll see. Depending on if I like the characters/movesets/stages/music/etc.

But I'd love to have a certain viking-looking amiibo front-and-center...

Hmmm... Sgt. Cortez would be in the game but also either Reimu or Dragonborn would get in.

Sgt. Cortez would be in the game so that's good enough for me.

When it comes to the Fighters Pass amiibo, I think I'd get most of them. The inclusion of Joker and Hero in Smash got me playing Persona 5 and Dragon Quest XI, and seeing as I liked both enough to play them for over a hundred hours each, I'd get those amiibos. (and Erdrick, if Hero's alternate costumes get their own amiibo like Advent Children Cloud, Bayo 1 Bayonetta, and female Corrin did)

Banjo and Kazooie are a must for me - I wanted an amiibo for them so badly that I even got the EB Games knock-offs, a Totaku figurine, when I thought that they weren't going to be in Smash. (though a few of the Totaku figures are still worth getting in my eyes - the Viewtiful Joe one is pretty cool) I'd get Terry as well; I don't have as strong of an attachment to SNK's games as I do to Street Fighter, but Terry's an entertaining character.

Not sure about Byleth, though. Maybe (though I'd just get one of them, not both), but while I liked Three Houses, Byleth never clicked for me as a character. (I would have preferred Edelgard as a Three Houses character in Smash, though I can see why they didn't include her - wouldn't want to prioritize one house over the others)

The collector value is all they have for me, and I substitute this urge by just drawing every Smash Bros character.

Yes because there’s no videogame character I hate that much even if there was someone else may like them.

tbh I don’t think I even hate any character.

...I don't think I even have a single character I legitimately hate. Well, an actual video game character(which I count species too). So that's kind of difficult. I guess I'd dislike if we got... um... Boshi over Geno? No, not even that. Obviously Brian for the win, but that's a tough choice for me. I really don't know who I could say I legitimately hate.

I didn't get the pass I wanted, sure, but. I guess Jago would be a decent dislike for me(since Fulgore's the obvious mascot and the poster boy for the series in the end)? But the fact Killer Instinct is in Smash is still nice. Well, that's the best I can give.

Luckily I don’t have a character that I hate, so I’m getting Bandana Waddle Dee without any consequences.

What was that big Assist Trophy topic about? Well do you want my two cents? It was an attempt to put characters into the battlefield without making them playable. Do I think it worked? Not really.

If Assist Trophies is a consolation prize it's kind of a sad one. When fans see characters like Isaac or Ashley revealed as AT do those fans celebrate? No. They feel as if those characters died. In fact there was an image going around these boards where characters revealed as AT get a gravestone in a cemetery. That's how people feel about them.

But let's say you are happy that your favorite character can appear in battle in some form. If you love Bomberman and you want him to be out there on the battlefield, well you better cross your fingers. It's entirely random if or when a character you love will appear. And when they do it's only for a few seconds.

Also, a whole lot of people don't play with items on anyway. So for many players of the game, those guys are not there no matter what.

Finally, Assist Trophies don't help the character's image either. Because Starfy has been a pathetic AT for years, people unfamiliar with the series think he's a pathetic joke. Very few people are interested in playing his games. There wasn't a big boom of new Starfy fans because they put that AT in there.

It's not at all like when they put Ness in Smash 64 and many people became interested in Earthbound. Or when Marth/Roy were in Melee and people became interested in Fire Emblem. Assist Trophies don't do that. In the eyes of many, they are just weird random things that popon screen for a second amidst the chaos.

Um, what?
Ubisoft's bot cannot say anything about smash ultimate as of April 22.
I'll be honest, this is a bit of a crackpot theory. We are to believe Rayman is gonna be in Smash because the bot doesn't talk about Smash. These things always seem to crop up and they never end up coming to fruition. Remember how Crash/Dante/Doomguy were suppose to be the next fighter pass character? More often than not, these things come up bust.

What likely happened is that after they brought attention to the bot doing that, the higher ups told them to remove it. Could be because it's not a Ubisoft game (this is for Club members) or they didn't want to imply their character was going to be in Smash. There was something similar with Smash 4 actually. When Artsy Omni made the Rayman leak before revealing it was him, Ubisoft actually said they were going to make a statement about the leak the following week (this is was Tuesday). That weekend, Artsy revealed it was him and they never made the statement. So it doesn't surprise me that Ubisoft wanted to scrub the message.

Also, I'm not sure how them removing the message means a character will get in. It was there because of the DLC so I don't see how them removing the message then implies that they have a character in the game. Wouldn't they keep it if a character is coming down the line. They also wouldn't change it now because the next reveal is likely 7-8 weeks away. So I don't see how this supports the theory. I think there are likely other more reasonable explanations than a character is coming to Smash. I'm starting to think Rayman fans are getting desperate. I said on Twitter that this was hairbrained (which it is) and one guy got upset, said I hated Rayman and then started digging through old tweets for some reason. I think we're at the point someone needs to do a wellness check on the Rayman thread.

Well call me an exception then because Starfy's assist trophy in Brawl got me interested in him. Just like Isaac's assist got me to play Golden Sun.

I might have been a bit bummed for two or three characters I thought would have been cool playable but that doesn't undo what I think are cool cameos for other characters, several of which it's the most prominent appearance they've had in years or could hope to have in Smash.

Also, there are now many factors which limit what ATs will be able to spawn. A lot of them now alter the background of a stage, and they don't want multiple things doing that (IE: Galagas, Final Smashes), so there's more your favorite character has to compete with.

The fact that the Rabbids and Ezio costume released with Byleth basically deconfirms any Ubisoft character. There's no reason they wouldn't release those with Ray-Man, seeing how the Sonic costumes returned with Joker because Sega and the Virtua Fighter costumes returned with Terry because fighting game.

Actually, there's a good chance that the Mii Costumes were decided alongside the DLC characters for the Fighters Pass, so the Mii Costumes selected for the first Fighters Pass may not have any bearing on who is selected for the second one.

EDIT: Also, the costume was Altaïr from the Altaïr series.

Sorry Bandana Dee, but I can't risk Waluigi getting in...

I mean, it's not like the costumes HAVE to be tied to the character they're releasing with. The costume wave that aligned with Byleth's release had those Ubisoft costumes, some Mega Man costumes, and Cuphead. That's a pretty random batch all things considered. It wasn't a one time thing, either, Banjo's batch was pretty random, too. Goemon, Sans, Team Rocket, and some Mega Man costumes. Point is, Rayman can come along with costumes that don't go along with him well at all. Not that is matters since Rayman's a spirit so there's no point in expecting him.

I hate that there are characters I actively don't want in, but mostly that's because they're roadblocks for my most wanted. Give me Dovahkiin, and I'm buying all the DLC hands down.

Thats assuming they dont pick the costumes later. Even still, it may not bode well for a Ubisoft character. If they picked them alongside the characters, it means they added Ubisoft costumes but rejected them for playable characters. Of course, if it was decided later on, then it could mean they were snuffed as, like you mentioned, they would have saved them.

YO! Guy who runs the Rayman for Smash twitter here. While we're all interested in this theory, none of us are saying he's a lock and are having fun speculating, no desperation.

Also ignore this guy when he says I don't like him cause of his distaste for Rayman, it more has to do with his anti trans attitude and others which you can all see on his Twitter. I know this is inappropriate for Smash Boards but I just wanted to lay down some facts before he dragged Rayman fans through the mud like this, that's all!

MrMcNuts MrMcNuts Don't drag up off-site drama in discussion threads, particularly when it's off-topic. If there's anything that the staff needs to be made aware of, or anything in a post that is breaking any rules, report it (or send a private message to a moderator or admin) rather than trying to spread that drama into Smashboards and derail the thread.

Yeah, I’d press the button. If Henry from Code Name: S.T.E.A.M got into Smash literally no other character would matter to me so they can add whoever else they want.

By “most hated character” do you mean literally any video game character? Because if so, I guess Graham the smug ******* hamster is joining the fight. Maybe he’d finally leave my island to go join Smash.

Oh I'm not saying it doesn't happen. But it doesn't have the same impact as a playable fighter.

Anyway. Personally, I've seen more people get excited to see K.K. Slider in Smashville than ATs. Perhaps these guys would have been better off as background appearances? Like what if there was a GBA stage and in the background various characters from the GBA era appeared in the background like Starfy or Isaac.

Well there was backdraft over Mai NOT being a background cameo, so...

Right. People seem to really appreciate these stage cameos. It's probably because they are non-disruptive and stick around for most of the match.
