They're very old discussions that people stopped talking about. A lot already moved on from it, if not everyone by that point.
Is that from Yakuza?
Kiryu and Joker are practically Sega's mascots at this point since they seem to be focusing more on them than Sonic nowadays.
It does help that Yakuza is pretty much Sega's most critically acclaim franchise bar Atlus rpg's at this point. Since Sonic is still a mismanage mess, and with Valkyrie Chronicles while good isn't as beloved as Yakuza.
If Sonic's still struggling to have alts that aren't blue, it should be no surprise.
It's just weird that Sonic doesn't have an echo at all, considering a bunch of characters in his games do share the same moves as him in a lot of games, Knuckles, Tails, Mighty, Ray, Shadow and Blaze could all work.
Alicia or Welkin would be pretty dope in smash. Alicia would make a bit more sense since you see her fighting more and she has an attack that works perfectly as a final smash but welkins the protagonist so he would probably get in.
Bayonetta wasn't, and I say that as someone who wanted to see Bayonetta win the Smash Ballot. (or at least voted for her in the hopes that she'd appear in Smash at some point)

Let's say that, after this current Fighters Pass, we get an announcement that the next DLC character will be a-style "bonus" character that comes completely by itself and isn't connected to any Passes. This character also has to follow the following two rules/guidelines...
With those in mind, who would you pick for a hypothetical "bonus" character?
- The character has to have some reusable assets from Ultimate or the previous Smash games. Assist Trophies, Mii Fighter costumes, regular trophies, in-game model cameos... basically anything that can be used to help the development process go faster than just starting from scratch.
- The character will not come with a stage, music, or spirits in order to lessen the workload, so it will likely be a character from a series that already has plenty of those in Smash already.

I'm hoping that nobody does that. We're less than twelve hours away, and it's nice going into this having no idea who it could possibly be, considering that Hero was effectively leaked months in advance, Banjo was leaked the day before (even if I was unsure whether or not to believe the leaks), and Terry was leaked by Nintendo itself.
...Generally being ignored? Like, no new games, sure, but being one of the core advertisements of Rare Replay as well as getting merchandise(though the latter is probably cause of being chosen for Smash. But it may not correlate either). Honestly, B-K were kept quite well in the spotlight for years now.
Every single one of those characters have a different bodyshape from Sonic. They can't work as Echoes outside of Shadow. They'd work easily at clones, though, cause of what you said. Don't forget Metal Sonic and Silver, who also were given similar moves in various games. A lot of them can be made interchangeable in multiplayer, though few share the same bodyshape. Amy and Silver also have a similar bodyshape, but the hedgehogs were kept like that intentionally anyway(makes sense. Slightly edit a design, and you get a lot done faster. No different from how some clones in Smash are created, and not just Echoes. Albeit, there's obvious differences in the case of the Hedgehogs, but I just mean the physical design was easier to make).
His final smash is just Captain Falcon's but with the Majima Mobile from Yakuza 3
What I meant was people going crazy over fake leaks because we are this close. I want it to be a surprise as well, don't get me wrong.

I wish that more people would do that, to be honest. I find that people can be too close-minded some times, like how Terry was dismissed as Hat Ken, or how some people tried to claim that Joker's an anime swordsman because he uses a knife.
I did that but then I got angry at myself for not playing Persona 5 sooner.
