If there's any company I'd like some clarification on right now, it's Bethesda. To me, they fall under a gray area. Bethesda as a company and the potential characters they could bring are not officially disconfirmed, but the Sabi's source's comments on the Cacomallow leak may hinder them. The thing is, the source, according to Sabi, claims that the "mii costumes have nothing to do with who FP5 is". Now, obviously the Dragonborn or Vault Boy don't have to come with Doom costumes. But if you heard that FP5 was gonna be a Bethesda character, and you saw this leak that has a Cacodemon mii costume, I doubt you'd say it has nothing to do with FP5. After all, Cacodemon is an enemy in a Bethesda published game. The connection is super easy to draw, it's nothing obscure. So because of this, I'd logically assume that other Bethesda characters are out of the running too if we take what these leakers say to heart. I would like an official "bethesda isn't fp5" statement from someone though if a Bethesda character isn't FP5.

Hype responsibly. I certainly do NOT expect it, but given the state of deconfirmed characters, the possibility of Kratos is simply too big to ignore.

It's certainly not much, but there actually is a bit of evidence in Kratos's favor.
For one, PlayStation recently participated in a Smash Bros. tournament.
Secondly, with Banjo-Kazooie, the idea of a character from a rival console is not unprecedented. Nintendo proved during the Banjo breakdown trailer that they're not afraid to name drop other consoles.
If you'd like to play God of War now, you can... ON PLAYSTATION! *laugh track*
Finally, God of War's Art Director made these:

Again, not much, but this WAS around the timeframe where Nintendo picked the DLC.

While I'm casting a HARD doubt on that, the irony is that Joker was competition for GOTY the year before he was revealed, and Kratos is technically in that same boat.

It’s likely Reimu. She’s one of the few characters with a nobody status and weird leaks.

Leakbait exists. And since Sabi's source supposedly knew who Fighter 5 is before Terry was revealed, they'd likely be cautious with something that SEEMS so leakbaity as Kratos.
Real leakers (the sources themselves) don't seek attention. Quite the opposite; they seek anonymity to avoid getting caught. So they relay the message to public leakers like Sabi and Vergeben.

SE has several more FF games and sub-series, Thief, Deus Ex, Legacy of Kain, Bubble Bobble, Bravely, Star Ocean, Ogre Battle, Just Cause, Gex, SaGa, Parasite Eve, and more.

SEGA has Phantasy Star (and its various sub-series), Panzer Dragoon, Sakura Wars, Jet Grind Radio, Space Channel 5, The House of the Dead, Alex Kidd, Kid Chameleon, NiGHTS, Valkyria, Virtual-On, Virtua Cop, Condemned, and more. Hatsune Miku too, if you don't disqualify her.

Microsoft has... pretty much anything from Rare or Double Fine... Then the Gears crew and someone from Fable, I guess. Plus Clippy. >_>

There are a lot of good options from these companies.

"Not-hype enough" isn't what I would use. I'd actually expect it to be a small character. Comparatively, anyway. It's a character that very few people know about right now which really leads me to believe it's not from a big company with a whole lot of employees.

While I may be looking into Verge's words a little bit too much here (I don't think he knows WHO the character is, but he may have gotten some sort of clue that he hasn't made public yet). Verge did say "I am here to help out and prepare you for who it is, by preparing you for who it isn't." To me, that just doesn't sound like a "big" character

Nights is cool. I could see him.
But I'm keeping it to series on par with the ones currently represented in Smash.
If I got my odd Sega pick, I'd go Ristar. I love that game.

Uh, I had a hunch that Sabi not support the deconfirmation of any Capcom character for F5P didn't really mean anything. I guess at this point we might keep an eye on the Sol Badguy rumors that Fatman talked about.

I do think that Reimu might still have a chanche though. If her problem is that TGA isn't exactly the best place to reveal her, I guess they can just circumvent this by announcing another character with her that's more fit with the event...ora just wait for January/February. Of course, this can apply to pretty much any character that's consdered "too niche" for being revealed in a big western event like TGA.

And sorry, but i still think a Sony character is the closes thing to Goku in regards to videogame characters: i've already mention the thing about crossplay, i think it's pretty clear that see Nintendo as a competitor (especially in Japan) and again, they can always revive PSASBR if they really want a piece of the Smash pie. "But Micros-" Microsoft is in a very, VERY different position from Sony in the console war: they are moving away from the traditional console system in a favor of thing like XCloud and Gamepass, they've been struggling to gather interest in the XBox One ever since the 2013 disaster while Sony pretty much won the console war from the very beginning...there are many reasons why they would be eager to let one their characters be in Smash. And besides, it's not like we got one of their A-list characters like Master Chief, and I think we can all agree that there really isn't any Sony character that as the same level of support and relationship with Nintendo that Banjo had.

I might appear like a bold statament (especially when I said two niche character are likely in the first part of this post) and if by some miracle we get actually get Kratos or something...cool, I would just eat crow and be silent. I'm not so dense to not admit it wouldn't be cool.

God, this leakbait thing is just so convenient. If you get something wrong you can simply blame it on leakbait and you will be absolved from all responsibility. If you miss something entirely you can say you actually knew all along but just didn't want to risk falling for leakbait, and then get the leak points anyway. It has no weakness.

Again, I'm not saying I expect Kratos AT ALL.
I am simply stating that the possibility at this point cannot be ignored.
See the three points I stated in his favor. It is SPECULATION. If we had solid proof of ANYONE, we'd know who Fighter 5 is.

If FP5 is a "smaller addition", I expect they'll at least be from a game that was TGA-nominated Here's how Elma can still win since that justifies their timing if not their placement as FP5. It'd be kind of awkward to have a lesser known character who hasn't even been mentioned there before.

With the way they are handling this supposed “fifth fighter”, it sounds like they get them too easily. Sakurai In Terry direct seems very mischievous. What if he has leaked a minor fighter as dlc #5 instead of the actual dlc #5? With the fifth fighter, he seems very prepared for stunts and is specifically focused on it. Namco and him might be giggling in the Terry direct, but they seem a bit boastful.
