No one uses guns in Smash bros.
Correction: No one uses guns that fire actual bullets.

Ridley is too adequately sized.
I've been saying the following over and over. If Bowser can be playable, so can Ridley. Being a giant in mainstream titles doesn't mean anything, especially when the character gets resized for spin-offs.

Ahh you are thinking of Kamella yes? She's Kamek's mother isn't she?

This the one you're thinking of?
Kamella likely isn't related to Kamek.

What's happening?

Kamak is cool!

Where's DK?:(
That was a beta screenshot that we were looking at. A Magikoopa was originally planned before Donkey Kong's inclusion.

Mario Galaxy, the generic Magikoopa that helps Bowser and zaps mario at the begging is officially called Kamek
That Magikoopa was presumed to be Kamek, but that's unconfirmed. Oddly, Kamek got a Super Mario Galaxy trading card, but the artwork used was that of a generic Magikoopa.

First off, I think A attacks (smash attacks) would be somewhat similar to Mario but not by much... anyway here's what I think.

B: Hammer Throw
Throws a hammer forward. The hammer is thrown a little slower than Wolf's blaster and doesn't go quite as far, but does more damage.

>B: Fire Drive
A short-range attack. Paper Mario pulls out a flaming hammer and swings it in front of him. Charge by holding B.

^B: Paper Airplane
Turns into a paper airplane and flies upward. Similar to Meta Knight's ^B.
Alternate ^B: Tornado Jump
Three small tornadoes form around Paper Mario, allowing him to jump very high. Length of jump is similar to Mr. Game & Watch's ^B.

vB: Repel Cape
Paper Mario covers himself with a red cape, making him dodgy. Any attack received within a short period of time will be countered with a quick punch. Similar to Lucario's vB.
Alternate vB: Spike Shield
Paper Mario spins around, creating a blue shield of spikes around him that lasts about 1/2 second. Paper Mario is invulnerable during this time. Timing has to be just right, but does about 10% damage and some good knockback.

Final Smash: Showstopper
Mario stands in a defensive position as large stars come in from the background. These stars are larger, about 3 times faster, and do more damage than Andross' plates. There aren't as many, though. Once a star passes through an area, the area becomes a blind spot for about 7 seconds after the Final Smash has ended (nothing can be seen there; just black).
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CB_An_p7DO8 (starts at 0:27)

ALTERNATE COSTUMES:
Red: Normal
Green: Wears L Emblem (Paper Luigi)
Blue: Paper Jumpman (blue shirt, red overalls)
Other 1: Wears W Emblem (Paper Wario)
Other 2: Wears L Emblem and W Emblem (Paper Waluigi)
Other 3: Paper Fire Mario (white shirt, red overalls)

TAUNTS:
Taunt 1: Paper Mario looks at the screen, gives a thumbs up, and then adjusts his hat.
Taunt 2: Paper Mario spins around and wags his finger toward the screen.
Taunt 3: Paper Mario jumps back a little while waving his arms in the air, looking surprised and startled.

He would somewhat inherit the Game and Watch feel but not by much.

Walking 'A': Simple Kick .
Running 'A': Roundhouse.

Side 'A' in the air: A 'Smash Meteor' with the racket.
Up 'A' in the air: rackets up.
Down 'A' in the air: Similar to C. Falcon.

'A' after holding the edge of the stage: It will go sluggish, with a relatively strong attack with the racket.

'B' 'Standard' Move: Forehand: Clout right, hit with the palm facing outward. Will centralize power of the shadows in racket.15% damage.
'B' 'Side' Move: Volley: Attack fast and powerful, only affect those who are close. 10% damage.
'B' 'Up' Move: Serve: grabs the opponent, thrower to up, granting a powerful blow with knock effect when the opponent is above 110% damage. Causes 20% damage.
'B' 'Down' Move: Step and bury.

Final Smash: Match Point: An cinematographic attack, which when accepted successfully, causes an instant KO.

Up Taunt: Scratching his "butt" with the racket. LOL
Down Taunt: He will throw the racket up trying to catch her, but she'll fall on your head.

Entry: He will come running, as if he is late.

Red: Waluigi Mario
Green: Luigi Waluigi

I've been saying the following over and over. If Bowser can be playable, so can Ridley. Being a giant in mainstream titles doesn't mean anything, especially when the character gets resized for spin-offs.
It's just a silly thing to bring up at all. Smash isn't canon, even within itself. Characters are as big as they need to be to make them work and be balanced. Size is just... not taken into consideration at all. Even with representatives of the same series. Just look at Pokemon.

[collapse="TRYING TO LIST LEGITIMATE ARGUMENTS AGAINST RIDLEY..."]NOW, like I said, if by one saying "too big" means "Awkward body shape may make implementing him difficult," then that's actually something. For whatever reason, Sakurai felt that the idea of Ridley as playable seemed "pretty impossible." Ridley's body-shaped could have possibly been the reason for this. But Sakurai went on to say that if they were to put their best efforts into it, then maybe Ridley could be made playable. So, at least to some degree he thinks it is possible. Considering the demand, he would surely try this time.

I'm trying hard to think of other legitimate arguments against Ridley. I think the biggest one is just the fact that he did end up as a boss. Sakurai saw him and thought "boss." With the lack of big names left to add to the roster though, Ridley would surely overcome his boss status. Roles in previous titles do not necessarily dictate the roles in future titles, after all.

Another one I see a lot is something like "Metroid has only been represented by Samus because Metroid is only about Samus. It's not about other characters." It is true to an extent. But, what is it you are doing as Samus in Metroid? You're fighting the Space Pirates of course. Ridley, as the leader of the Space Pirates, would represent that aspect of the series perfectly. Besides, Metroid has been trying to boost its cast of characters as of late anyhow. Story became more important in Fusion, and Hunters began adding other characters. Corruption continued the trend, and Other M is all about story and characterization.

Let's see, what else. "Ridley is similar to Charizard. How would he bring something new to the roster and set himself apart from the other dragon?" That's a bit of an easy one. Ridley has a lot to work with, so it wouldn't be hard giving him an entirely different moveset from Charizard. Admittedly though, I'm not sure he'd bring all that much that is "new." Can't think of a gimmick for him. I've already suggested he be given a command grab unlike the ones we've seen so far, so that could be considered something "new." Either way, that particular criteria does not necessarily have to be met for a character to become playable.

I guess this would count. "Would Ridley's bloodthirsty nature not fit with the lighthearted atmosphere of Smash?" That's also pretty flimsy I suppose. His nature can be captured easily within his animations without having to needlessly accommodate his nature by adding gore or whatever. Heck, you could probably call Ganondorf's side special "brutal." None of Ridley's attacks would have to exceed that, I don't think.[/collapse]

I'd actually appreciate if some could add to this.

So on a different topic does anyone agree with the idea of chibi-robo... (cricket sound, cricket sound).
Ok so I accept he's unlikely but does anyone think that he'd be a cool character? He has a great moveset potential and would be a breath of fresh air in a game dominated by people who use swords, guns and magic. I dunno just my opinion thoughts anyone?
I would love to see Chibi-Robo in Smash as he would bring a lot of new things to the game. Sadly, the best we can hope for is for him to get an Assist Trophy appearance. Which is a shame because he's one of those players that should make an appearance.

I liked how people actually brought up Kamek. He's that classic old-school villain that actually deserves a SHOT of being playable. And the only likely character from the Yoshi' Story series. The other being the Baby Mario, Baby Luigi Team.

I mean really, considering he's the main villain of the Yoshi series, AND has recurring roles in the main series actually might make him more important than say Bowser Jr. or King K Rool.

Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island - Main Villain
Tetris Attack- Main Villain
Yoshi Touch n' Go- Main Villain
Yoshi's Island 3DS- Shares main villain role w/ Bowser

Super Mario Galaxy- Minor Role
New Super Mario Bros. Wii- Appears before every boss, as well as being one himself later on.
Super Mario RPG- Boss
Super Princess Peach- Boss, tasked with capturing Luigi

Mario Party 6,7,8- Part of Stage
Mario Party Advance- Supporting Mini-game role
Mario Party DS- Boss

Mario & Luigi Partners In time: Boss, and babysitter of Baby Bowser
Mario & Luigi; Bowsers Inside Story- Mentors Bowser

Note that these are only DEFINITE appearances of Kamek. There's plenty more with a magikoopa that's unspecified.

So, yeah, I suppose he's quite deserving. Though he is very overshadowed by the popularity of other characters.

Due to the same reasons you stated, Kamek actually used to be on my SSB4 roster. He got replaced by Paper Mario eventually though.

I know this guy is kinda 3rd partyish, but I would love to see this guy in his 8-bit self, kicking and punching other characters. :D

So I was just wondering, but do people actually believe Toad would make a playable character still?
Toad would be a shoe-in if not for the fact that he is Peach B-move, which can easily be change. The question is, does Sakurai consider Toad enough of a fighter to be playable in SSB4?

I mean, Toad is iconic, but Paper Mario would make such an amazing character I'd much prefer him.

There's not much to go off with Toad, he never actually fights in any games (SMB2 isn't much), and there's always Peach's Down B.

Yeah, I go back and forth on whether I truly like that idea or not.

Later on I'll post my top twenty favorite VG tracks, for fun. lol
Yeah Custom Robo has some great music.

Also, I am thinking about doing a Professor Layton stage. Is there like a template I can use or?

Since we don't know to much yet about the Wii U, as much as I would like the option, I'm not sure if it could be done.

But at a bare minimun they should allow stages to use all the music from the franchise used in the game instead of giving a stage about 5 tracks to choose from.

Join the club! But seriously, I like Toad.. for the most part... as much as one who isn't a fanboy can like Toad. However, has he ever had a moveset that isn't grasping at straws. While I feel the same about Bowser Jr. At least he is his own charater and is a major villain. Id much much much prefer Paper Mario(*cough*after Geno*cough*).

Also, unused files for Dixie Kong, Toon Zelda, Toon Sheik, and "Pra_Mai" (speculated to be Plusle & Minun of Pokémon fame) were found as scrapped newcomers. There were also files for Dr. Mario, Mewtwo, and Roy, possibly meaning that they were planned to be brought back at one time, or that their data was imported for some reason.
Possible Newcomers?

I mean, who would NOT want a custom music option? That would be absolutely perfect.
I want to seriously rock out to a perfect mix of classical music, jazz, and metal!!! :reverse:

I mean, Toad is iconic, but Paper Mario would make such an amazing character I'd much prefer him.
Who doesn't want Paper Mario? IMO he seems like a shoe-in. Still, while Toad's chances are slim, his inclusion is not all that crazy. He does have some original moveset potential from SMB2 and New SMB Wii, and he is an international icon in gaming. Besides, they could change Peach's neutral B to Toadsworth! Who wouldn't want that?

Edit: I think Bowser Jr. would make it before Toad though. He could really make a good character after his New SMB and SMG appearances and the moves he has used in them. (note: I'm not considering Geno, because Square Enix won't give him up, which makes me a sad knight!) I think he could really be like a fun mini-Bowser-esk character without being even close to a clone-like Lucas.

Possible Newcomers?
The only ones I can see getting in are Mewtwo and Dixie Kong. The rest are probably never going to be playable in SSB4.
Hopefully Mewtwo makes his much deserved return (and actually has hitboxes!), and Dixie Kong joins the fray (finally we'd have equal Space Animals and DK characters; the DK series has sold almost 50 million copies; the Star Fox series has sold less than 5 million copies. How does Star Fox have more characters without a classic game since the release of the N64 again?). Still, I think she's going to get a major outfit update. It's the 2010's, not the 90's! (her older outfits can be different costumes!)

Still, I'd love to see Roy. Having playing Sword of the Seals (or whatever it's called nowadays), he could easily be a completely original character, unlike Marth or Ike (hopefully Ike returns). In this day and age of fighting games and graphics, at least make him and Doctor Mario alternate outfits.

As a note on that data, Mewtwo was nearly completed, Roy was pretty well built up (it seems Sakurai really likes Roy), and Plusle/Minun, Toon Zelda/Tetra, and Dixie Kong all hada fair share of data (Doc had next to no new data from Melee; Pichu had only its' data from Melee). I originally hated the idea of Plusle and Minun, but I think they could be original, assuming they don't steal everything off the Ice Climbers. They could be a tag team where you switch between them and the computer controls the other one, or possibly they could combo together. Plus IMHO every Pokémon generation deserves reps.

As for the 5th gen Pokémon, Zoarak (or however it is spelled) seems like he could be awesome, but so could Victini. I don't think it would be crazy to say another 5th gen Pokémon could make it. I also think Sakurai might considered a 5th gen Pokémon Trainer. If he does so, IMO the best option would be to choose random Pokémon instead of just the starters (I don't like the new starters very much).

^ Eh, Brawl kind of eliminated full on clones like there were in Melee.

-Luigi has a few moves that are similar to moves Mario has, but they are completely different (and his movements and play style are nothing like his brother's.).
-Doc is dead. Sadly.
-Lucas and Ness have like 2 or 3 moves in common, but they move and do their moves and attacks like purely unique individual characters.
-Lucario and Mewtwo have a few moves in common, but other than that they are completely different. -Pikachu seems to have absorbed Pichu's few strengths and some of Pichu's moves. (did Pichu evolve?)
-Ganondorf's moveset is very similar to Captain Falcon's moveset, but the way they are executed and what they do (along with how Ganondorf moves) are completely different.
Falco plays completely different to Fox, despite having quite a few similar moves.
Wolf plays nothing like Falco, other than he has a lot of aerial strengths.
-Wolf has a lot of the same attacks as Fox, but his movements and the way he executes them are just... weird.

I think Wolf and Falco could further change (hopefully they're less campy and get new final smashes), and hopefully Ganondorf gets some darkly magical moves or his sword (PLEASE!), but ultimately Sakurai ironed out the clone business pretty well. I still remember how people originally thought Wario would be yet another Mario clone in Brawl. MAN that was funny!

On an unrelated note, I've had this idea since a little bit after Brawl came out, so here it goes. What if there was another Smash Ball like item? Like the Smash Ball gave the character the ability to do a super (kamehameha-esk attack?) such as PK StarStorm, Mario's Giant Fireball, and Triforce Slash, and this new item caused transformations, like Beast Ganon (that you control like a normal character), Landmastttaaasss, and Wario-man to where every character had an original super attack and transformation? I mean, Lucario needs a new attack or something that doesn't totally suck, unlike his current final smash!

Plus, how cool would it if we could do transformation battles and super attack battles (seriously, Brawl needed the option for multiple smash balls at the same time!). That could result in some EPIC fun! Super Triforced up Link vs. Beast Ganon. Giga Bowser vs Beast Ganon. Armored Mewtwo vs. Snake in a Metal Gear? Super Sonic vs. Super Mario? Giant Jigglypuff vs. Wario-Man? Who the heck doesn't want that to happen, and why the heck shouldn't that happen?

I mean, who would NOT want a custom music option? That would be absolutely perfect.

This is what I've been suggesting this whole time, a custom music option being utilized in custom stages via an SD card wouldn't be impossible.

Considering that Brawl utilized an SD card for in game for saving snapshots battles, replays and such, the same can be done with music, the only thing that one might have to do is to convert the files you want into .brstm format and such so SSB4 would recognize it as it's own, then off course with such an option you would be able to effortlessly be able to choose any song via and SD card and directly load from there, just like it was dome for Brawl, but without actually replacing, hacking, and overlapping themes.

It's definetly my most wanted feature that I would like to see aside from good online play, of course if Online does turn out to be perfect then I really wouldn't mind if there isn't a custom music option.

@Star: So far I've been enjoying your tracks, please post your top 20 for listening pleasure. :)

I want Link's Final Smash vs Ganon Final Smash to turn the stage into OoT top of Ganon 's Castle and they start playing tennis with a electric fireball

or.. Ganondorf draws his sword

Why not have Ganon's Castle as an awesome retro stage and give Ganondorf a sword? It's a win-win-win-win-win!

Heyya, I really lime this idea alot, it wod be lots of fun. :)

One idea that I suggested in the past invlovrs two kind of Smashes, one is called a "Super Smash" while the other is your basic "Final Smash".

Basically what a Super Smash would do is it would consider a series of combo chain hits that would automatically be performed, it wouldn't necesserly cause an instant K.O. like a Final Smash bit rather it would rack up alot of quick damage doing so, this would be attainable via a different colored Smash Ball, these would be more common of course.

As for the Final Smash, they would consist of a more powerful but signature finishing move that can potentially K.O. an opponent among succesful contact, though this time around every character should definetly have their own unique Final Smash like Wolf for example, us should be more powerful.

Overall it would add more strategy not to mention more fun strategies to choose from for finishing up an opponent, but I like your idea of having super forms though, how awesome would it be to have Luigi as Mr. L fighting Super Mario lol..
