wont work at all competitively cos its on 2 consoles, both with breakable controllers, will probs be mega gay casual, what a shame
That is probably the ****tiest logic and reasoning ive ever heard

ssf4 is on 2 consoles, pc, handheld and on a ****ing phone, didnt break the game. bbcs2, bbcs and bbct is on handheld and 2 consoles and pc, didnt break the game.
Pretty sure if you tried hard enough you could break any of the said controllers.

I'm boy too confident with the controllers either. But its too early to judge properly yet. I know for sure that gc controllers arent compatible :/

lol just imagine...

People using the Wii U controller: Given the frequency and amount of gamecube controllers broken, lost, misplaced or stolen, you don't want this to happen to this controller (but it will). Just hope the controller won't be too expensive.

People using classic controller (has to be attached to wii remote): motherf***ing syncing hassles. 'nuff said.

We're f***ed.

i don't think i'm gong to worry about input issues. like all other competitive fighting games, if there's not a satisfactory 1st party input device for this new one, third parties will simply make one (or make a cheap converter for GC con use).

J-birds beat me to it =P

It's most probs going to be even more casual than Brawl.

im not too worried personally, i love the concepts of the wiiu, and i do like the controls capabilities.

that'll make all the difference, having that on the back for support.

all reports are that its light and feels good to hold ergonomically.
It sucks that it may be 1 ipad per wii u as it may be the desired method of control. Hopefully they overhaul this and allow multiple per console somehow.

I never had any issues with keyboard controller, and everything else about this controller looks solid

not rly.. ipad/galaxy tab/xoom are all 10 inch tabs and run for close to 10 hours doing pretty intense stuff. I can imagine them pushing it to easily last 20. Not to mention it'll probs have a re-charge cord that goes into the console.

As long as they change the "circle pads" to actual thumbsticks then I can live with the other (extremely minor) faults with the controller. I also sincerely hope they have some form of non-wireless version, not a big thing but it would be nice.

Otherwise I am liking everything revealed thus far except the name. :p

Siiiiiigh... Consoles these days are so depressing... All everybody ever tries to do is gimmick after gimmick after gimmick, trying to appease casuals (no idea why either) instead of ACTUAL gamers... Feel like moving to a console dedicated to real gamers... I don't care about 3D and Wireless and Motion Sensor crap... I don't think I'll even bother getting a Wii-U or the next Smash Bros. game, and I DEFINITELY won't get it if it doesn't support GC controllers. That trainer I half-watched looked so god-awful it put me in a horribly depressed mood. There's pretty much no hope for Nintendo anymore... Siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiighhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

yeah half of me sorta feels like an old man saying "back in my day we didn't need gimmicks, it was all about making a good game" etc

Um, they appeal to casual gamers for money. The casual gamer market is broad, and yeah it's a shame that nowadays it's not about making a good game, it's all about sales and gimmicks (MW2 springs to mind) but that's just how business is.

There's still some damn fine games out there though, personally I'm looking forward to Elder Scrolls V and I know a lot of people are looking forward to the new Zelda.

From what I know it's not confirmed whether Nintendo is going to add GC support or not but I don't know how they expect people to play smash properly on that controller lol

And we thought nintendo was supposed target this console on hardcore gamers... lol. Although I might be wrong with this, I head it somewhere.

That's what you get when you trust un-sourced word of mouth.

It's like listening to that kid in primary school who said his dad worked at nintendo and got 200 stars in Mario 64

The reason they do that is because casuals are the biggest market currently.

Best selling console of the current gen by far: Wii
Best selling handheld of all time: DS

See the correlation between gimmicks and sales?

Appeasing to the hardcore gamer is simply not anywhere near as profitable these days, as we are the minority.

Recycles, DLC on casual games and new titles yearly are the thing these days. The gaming industry has become lots less about customer satisfaction per game, its largley about saturating the market to cover the largest audience possible with the smallest cost possible.

If anything, I commend nintendo for single handedly being able to move and entire industry from targeting one market to another. They may not have been the first to create pretty much any of their devices, but they were the ones who employed them perfectly.

all i really have to say is don't rail on the console until you've tried it. we've seen the graphics potential of the wiiU and the casual market doesn't really care about graphics, wiiu has a good chance of appealing to both casual and core so relax. apparently the control is actually very ergonomic.

can't be stuck with gamecube controls forever.

Yea graphics aren't important in comparison to say... gameplay. However being able to support HD resolutions properly and having a variety of connections like vga and hdmi are something that Nintendo should have implemented ages ago.

That honestly does not make sense, as most multi plats look better on ps3, and ps3 exclusives generally look better than 360 exclusives.

Nintendo actually said the Wii U will appeal to hardcore gamers during their conference.

So far it looks like Nintendo think that because their console is HD and kinda powerful, it automatically appeals to hardcore gamers, which they would be very wrong in assuming.

I found it to be the other way around. Fallout 3, Black Ops, Crysis 2 (to name a few), they run at a more stable framerate on 360 and look slightly better. I'd have to agree that PS3 exclusives look better than 360 exclusives, but simply because I can't really think of any 360 exclusives. Halo Reach didn't really look THAT good.

I think it just depends on the game, because even multiplatform games are still built initially for one of the two consoles.

I was just taking a cheap shot at xbox Phil, calm down.
I have a deep hatred towards those (mainly) xbox owners who claim graphics make a good game. You know the type I'm talking about.

Fable 3, forza series for just some exclusives off the top of my head.

Maybe its just the games ive looked at for both consoles when it comes to multiplat, i played bayonetta, la noire on both. Then also checked brink for clarification, all of which easily win on the ps3 :x

Either way though, theres a solid conclusion that exlusives just look better on ps3, i mean look at demons souls, vanquish, gt5, uncharted so on in comparison to what the 360 has to offer lol
