The sentence alone would be a deconfirmation.

Which is the case for Ness. I mean Sakurai even wanted to replace Ness with Lucas in melee! And he said he wanted to get rid of clones.

Any person of moderate intelligence would notice a pattern. When he says "up until now" it usually means something's changing.

It happened with Handicaps, and it also happened with standard combos, and they were both changed from their Melee versions. The same could happen with Ness.

Just because he doesn't immediately say "Ness is still in the game, don't worry", doesn't mean "up until now" invalidates him. All the phrase implies is that "this is the way the series has been so far", in BOTH cases in which this phrase was used, the feature in question was STILL IN THE GAME, except changed from its Melee version.

Wow, nice to see that DeuceBlade is still in denial about Ness. This will just make it even more funny when Brawl comes out, and Ness is nowhere to be found.

And I see that DeuceBlade is still gay as ever with his little sunglasses smiley. Roffle.

Will you lighten up? At least DB doesn't have to resort to insults and go as low as you to support himself. And I don't even know if you're trying to support yourself or knock yourself down, because calling someone gay is just sad, especially since he has done nothing wrong :) And you make a point, we won't stand down UNTIL WE DO NOT SEE NESS IN THE ACTUAL GAME. Or unless Sakurai posts and update that makes Ness's exit blatantly obvious. Lul, we are not in denial.

And stop calling Ness a clone. If he were to be the same in Brawl as he was in Melee, PK Cross and PK Freeze are different attacks. Shooting PK Fire in different directions are DIFFERENT. Kicking upwards and throwing a Yoyo up is DIFFERENT. No, really?

The attack is called PK Flash, not PK Cross. You don't even know what his attacks are called. Lucas's kick is a tilt, the Yo-yo was a smash attack. And I don't see your point. So Lucas is not a clone. That still doesn't mean he can't be Ness's successor. Yeah, Ness's moveset is thrown away. It sucks for Ness players... guess what, fighting games do it all the time, it's part of their evolution.

That's stupid.

That's like saying, if we ever encounter aliens you're forced to believe every story/theory about them that people have come up with over the years.

Believe me, people talk a lot of ****.

PK Cross? lol! That is exactly why the biased Ness supporters should at least bother to play his game before standing up for him in the first place.
Lul, and you go for what I said wrong to try to ridicule me instead. You get my point, PK Flash is different than PK Freeze, understand that? And I'm sorry for misunderstanding the Up-Tilt, cause it clearly doesn't say it was an Up-Tilt. Sakurai just said strong up attack, and in anyone's view, strong can be understood in two different ways. I could care less what the general group of fighting games does, I just want Ness in. This "evolution" happening before your eyes, you're not even picking up all of the details. Does t!mmy say that some of Kirby's moves are bad? Yes, he does, so that means it sucks for Kirby players? So, if they're bad, change them, or BUFF them like what has happened to many other characters. I doubt Ness will be thrown out because of his moveset. And I don't understand what you stated. You DON'T get my point, SO Lucas is not a clone?

People that don't understand that I support Ness for the mere fact that I like him. Why am I biased to say that it's PK Cross and not PK Flash? Knowing the names of his attacks is another topic.

Well the "mere fact" that you only want him back because you like him makes it completely pointless for you to be here to begin with, we are called the "biased" haters, but you people haven't even played his game, you don't even know what his attacks are called, you think Ninten = Ness, you probably have no idea that in-game, they have absolutely no major differences, besides two or three things, seriously, if you have no idea what you're talking about you shouldn't be arguing, is like this, if you only want him back because you like him, yet not because you have played his game and have some sort of favoritism towards him, just play Lucas in Brawl and you'll probably end up doing the same thing, people somehow think Ness is deserving of a spot in Brawl, just to keep the original twelve intact, truth is, he's not, Smash following =/= Mother following, that's exactly why you people have been failing from the start, if you think Ness is as iconic enough to the Mother series, like Marth is to the Fire Emblem series to be guaranteed a comeback or even be given the benefit of the doubt, you know absolutely nothing of the series, Ness was in Smash because he was the latest Mother representative, he isn't anymore, why don't we get Ninten too? That way we complete the Mother series and make Brawl even more redundant, I mean, just give him a different standard special and A moves and he's not a clone anymore, geez! NO Mother character is indispensable in Smash, we are lucky to even have one, plus, so far no one's a clone or even similar in movesets, so you're whole "he can be luigified" argument is completely pointless.

<3, Epic win vesper.
I Should also add that sakurai has wanted to put mother 3 in it's place for quite a while.

Well he probably is out....I'm sure he will probably be in this game in some way/form but probably not playable, I Could see Ness as an ALT For lucas...Now if only i could be able to get rid of that REALLY Ness biased fan at Nsider...He's making this huge thread called "The ness omega thread" And he's always like "Olol sack of rice only put lucas in 4 marketing reasons, All he needz to do is give ness 4 new special moves ololzorz" IT'S SO ANNOYING, He is completely desperite i tell you.

Anyhow i'm not to upset that ness is going even though i used him quite a bit.

Ninten for brawl!

He'd be a unique character and he was the protagonist of his own game. *goes and makes thread*

I don't see why he would "never appear" at all... in fact, I'd reckon that his chances are about as high right now as Ness'. However high that may be. >_> <_<

... but, Egret, you're going to get flamed. Just a warning.

Clearly Ninten is a serious buisnessman.

As for any actual Ninten supporters out there, if there is a Ness alt you can just claim it's a Ninten alt. They're not very different visually.

Some of the melee characters got different moves, and possibly instead of giving these different moves to Ness they gave them to another Mother rep.. Lucas, so that Ness can keep his old moveset and Lucas can have the new stuff.. cause obviously they have different movesets.

Ness' chance for brawl is still alive, imo.

I always liked Ninten's details more, he was a sick little kid right? I think that adds more personality than Ness and Lucas, but Ninten and Ness are dead :(.

Noez, We needz a ninten AND A Ness alt.
But seriously i think there is already a ninten support thread on the pinned topic and i doubt either of them will make the cut.

I like Ninten the most out of Ness Lucas and him, due to his detail but in the first game Ninten was not used so it's lowly possible for him to be in Brawl. As for Ness, Sakurai said something about his replacement.

Yeah he said that 6 six years ago.. by now his mind could have been changed... and he could have seen that people like Ness so he just will include both of them.. these are just possibilities I don't know for sure.. just don't jump to conclusions

that's true I shouldn't be jumping to conclusions, thanks. If I had to choose, I would pick Paula, Kumatora, or Ninten for the next Mother rep.

Yeah that would be cool to have them, but isn't rumored that Ness is actually like.. Ninten reincarnated.. I am not positive on this.. but I believe I heard it somewhere before.

Also, isn't Ninten one of Ness' Alts?

He said he was planning on replacing Ness in melee but because Mother 3 wasn't out yet he didn't.

Even though Sakurai said that he wanted no clones, and he was considering replacing Ness with Lucas since melee and the fact that the update says that "Ness has been in the smash bros series until now." you still believe he has a chance?

yes. back when Melee came out it was pm;y two years after the n64 version, it was rushed and yes it was limited by the capability of the gamecube disc, memory wise

now it's been how many years since melee?? these things happen exponentially. With the other mother game out, there's no need to limit representation of a series to one game(the most recent one), if that were true then we'd have seen new popular pokemon as well perhaps some characters from the gb zelda's

and isn't mother a franchise that sakurai personally favors?? do you guys remember that there were clones in melee? they desperately wanted to put in more characters,do you think that drive has deteminished?? after kirby's inclusion of more reps and fire emblem no doubt including lords from different games, mother is a shoe in for the same exquisite treatment.

and did anyone think to take sakurai's words as up until now, ness has been the only mother character in the franchise

This looks a lot like a back-kick... upwards.

It's really starting to look to me like Ness might have a chance. It's understandable that a few moves might get altered and improved, but quite a few differences are showing up....
Of course, that doesn't really mean anything... If Lucas' up-b wasn't also PK Thunder, which is just about the least likely third "jump" that I've ever seen, and his front-b wasn't PK Fire with just about the same effect... I'd give Ness a realistic chance..
