Many have given good reasons for Ness to stay, but people are bias and jump to conclusions.

Ness has higher chance than Rosalina.. considering Ness has been acknowledged by Sakurai, and Brawl is Focus' on Sunshine and not Galaxy a game that came after sunshine compared to Mother 2 which was before Mother 3.

Yeah, as if this thread wasn't created even before the Lucas character update, thanks for proving my point, you have no reasons, you fail.

Well if you want an unbiased opinion, Ness has a little more chance than Rosalina does, since the kid's been in more games if you wish to count the Smash series... Rosalina isn't really the main character of Mario Galaxy either, could simply be regarded as too new or just a throwaway character. I think there's more Ness fans than Rosalina fans, probably because Ness has been around longer, really.

Has the Dojo mentioned anything Mario Galaxy related, either? I think Smash Brothers is stuck with Mario Sunshine content unless a miracle happens and we get a 4th Smash game... or we could get REALLY lucky, who knows?

Anyway, you're missing the point that Ness DOES actually have a little more chance than you think... the measurement may be small, but you're not giving enough elements credit, really. Ness has a sizeable amount of fans, has appeared in 2 Smash games already, can easily be inserted in the game in the same way Marth/Roy were in Melee... as protagonists from different games of the same series. In fact, Melee Ness/Lucas have more differences to them than Marth/Roy ever did.

You like bringing up that Lucas was meant to replace Ness for Melee, but you don't realise it's been a while since he said that... he could of changed his mind, but we won't really know until we see that he's gone for good, or is back in Brawl.

Same here. I'm not a big Ness fan, but the reason why I would like him back is so that the mother series can have 2 reps and I also don't like seeing characters being cut.

What stops Lucas and Ness from being clones, now? I don't really think it was ever said that clones were going to be removed entirely, just much more moderated to avoid terrible ones like Dr. Mario and Pichu... you don't really realise that clones are essential to most fighters, they save development time and give people plenty of choice. Lucas has quite a few different moves anyway, so it wouldn't be that bad.

Anyway, I think Ness has terrible chances of being back in Brawl. I'm just jumping ship for a while since I don't want to be in the same boat as someone like you.

Well, he is only a human... while he did want to replace Ness with Lucas at the beginning, he might just decide that Ness could stay in Brawl because he has more of a Smash presence than Pichu, for example. Brawl is a game for the fans, and I think there could be enough Ness fans to ensure he comes back.

MOTHER isn't strong enough 2 characters, but 1.5 wouldn't be too bad for the developers.

You don't know for sure if Ness is out, so stop jumping to conclusions and flaming people for wanting Ness in. Peoples hopes can not be proven wrong until Sakurai disproves or proves them. So unless you wake up tomorrow as Sakurai you won't know, or until it is confirmed by Him/Corocoro roster reveal/ or Feb 10th.

Heh, my 1.5 comment was just me being funny, really... I am aware Ness and Lucas are two characters, I was just talking about how they have similar movesets, which is something I'm sure you are familiar with by now.

Anyway, this is beginning to grate me too... I see these arguments too much, and this whole topic is made entirely on assumptions. Ness isn't out, he just has pretty grim chances, but they are still chances, after all. Until we see some real writing on the wall rather than the deliberately vauge statements Sakurai has given us, Ness isn't completely deconfirmed yet.

Sorry but I want to know your reason for believing Ness will return. Because the site says "There’s a character named Ness who has appeared in the Smash Bros. series up until now". "Has appeared" implies the past or that which already occurred. "Up until now" means before now but no longer. So it is saying a character appeared in smash in the past but no longer is appearing. that phrase in quotes is copied and pasted from th Dojo. I say this with all due respect.
