Yeah me and khai both are from South Carolina. I think Devin does as well. I suppose it could be made a SC/NC power ranking as SC has made no effort to have power rankings but then I'd argue for a better spot on it.

Well, yeah actually. Why are there SC people ranked here in a thread titled "NC Brawl Power Rankings"???? Why did people vote for SC people to be on the NC power rankings? Much confusion.

We realize that players like Ryanarius and Devin are both from SC but they participate regularly in the Gamers Edge Tournament and we want to not only support that tournament but give its entrants another reason besides money to compete. Also like Ryanarius said SC does not have a very developed Brawl scene so we decided to try and be inclusive. However I will say that it would be really great and beneficial for the accuracy of the rankings if some of the SC players that make up the regular entrants of the Gamers Edge could come to a Bill-fest since they are a regular and large NC tourney.

Lastly the Power Rankings are a work in progress and if we (the board) decide that SC players should be removed than we will do so and reformulate the rankings.

It just seems like and even bigger hassle/fight over the PRs when two states are involved, no matter the size of each's respective scene and tournament atendance in each state.

I strongly suggest that we redo the rankings to exclude SC. Nothing against SC (you guys are good), but power rankings should probably be just state-wide for the sake of simplicity and respectability.

Honestly, if we did a SC only PR list, it'd be like... the only 10 good players in SC. I don't see any problem with keeping this as a "Carolina Brawl PR list". Hell, if you feel undershot, make it a 20 man list or something...

It's not that I don't want you guys on the list, it's just that :

1. only NC voted on this

2. top 10 with good players in both states that haven't played much leaves decisions too open to blind discrimination towards a state or whatever. This means that the state with more smashboards rep could get a better spot on these PRs (theoretically, I dunno what would actually happen, I'm not psychic).

3. Ali and I should be tied for first now imo, so I feel like that, plus many other things, skews the rankgins anyway.


I don't have a real solution in my mind yet though. All I know is that this can't be kept the way it is presently.

One of your board members also happens to be one of the frequent customers / winners at the GE tourneys. That is to say, Ali and Peter. There is no discrimination unless their voice is ignored.

The reason I agree that SC should be on the rankings is because there arent people we are dealing with ... if there was HUGE competition in SC i would agree with not having SC with us .. but its just a few people .. so I dont think it matters

I'm going to say SC shouldn't be in the power ranking because a lot of the SC smashers are pretty isolated from NC. I know I've competed in a lot more Georgia tournaments then I have NC tournaments. I know about 15 SC smashers that generally will only compete in their region. Another 10 that only compete in SC and GA tournaments. Most of those probably aren't good enough to make the list but I know at least a couple that I would expect to be able to compete against anyone on the list.

That said honorable mention I mean come on of the four gamer's edges I've been to I haven't lost a single set in singles... I can't really do better than that. I have a winning record against everyone I've played in the top ten (ali, peter, devin and dr. peepee's marth vs my pit but I haven't played PP in a long time and PP's mk did beat my pit then).

I have the hardest time finding information on billfest but I think its about 5 hour drive one way for me so its very tough to make. Maybe I'll be able to motivate some people to go but we'd probably need housing and lots of money matches. Gamer's edge does seem like a good halfway point between NC and SC more of NC should try to make it to those every once in a while.

And Parents are gay PP Mine and others in NC.

So its hard for us too make it.

And Money is a problem. Well for are crew cause we are poor wetbacks except for Mask hes just poor.

I agree with Ryanarius still. We simply don't play in tournaments enough to know the extent of the others' abilities. Ali and Peter voted, sure, but there was no discussion, and no experience other than theirs' that the votes favoring SC were cast for (the panelists do get a little more influence, but still....).

Ryanarius, yeah it's been months and months since we played last. My Marth is much much much better now lol. I'm sure you're amazing too since you have a great tournament record and skills to back it up. Your part in this is just another reason why I think that, if nothing else, these PRs will have to be completly scrapped, and we'll have to start from square one again.

Maybe, if we wanted to do this, we could get SC panelists? Then the problem arises that SC doesn't know as much about NC either.

Still not finding a solution...other than just do NC that is.

If you want to keep it just NC power rankings, then it doesn't particularly bother me. In earnest, it seems like the most "fair" way of going about it. In the event that that happens, SC power rankings would be organized... sometime I'm sure.

@ GE tourneys on thursday: yeah it sucks, but Dylan (store owner) organizes other shiz on Saturdays. Worry not though, I got's some trixy plans in the works. Keep alert, mofo's.

edit: this thursday is the day before halloweeeeeeeen. No door fee if you wear a costume. That alone should be some interest.

It seems to me that people who attend several tournaments that are considered in these rankings should be up for nomination. As for the honorable mention part, none of the board members on the charlotte area gave more than like top 5 so bill only had people who Crio thought were good past that. I didn't really look at all of the gamer's edge tournies, so maybe you should be higher.

December is just a potential date. I was worried about x-mas getting in the way for some people, so the possibility for it being early January isn't completely gone.

I'll (hopefully) be busy with other stuff around that time anyway, depending on how the next month goes.

I will add(as a NINJA EDIT): Ryanarius has never lost a set to Ali ( as far as I know / recall). He's pretty good. I would say easily top 5, if not 3.
