Usually when people say "Oh yeah only effeminate or gay people play Peach," they can probably only reasonably think of like, 1 or 2 people who fall into that category who happen to play Peach. Go to a tournament and gather all Peach mains in one spot and I guarantee you that less than 10% of them will fall into that category.

Although I have to say, a fair generalization is that almost all Puff players are really cool people, despite the bad reputation their character has. Same thing for Sheik mains. Except Drephen. Drephen scares the **** out of me.
