he's askin the melee community about their gamer tags, the thread is where it needs to be to serve the purpose he intended it to serve, wasn't prompting any flaming or disruption of the boards, it was an innocent thread that'd hit page two in a couple of days any way

Why couldn't I use that reasoning to bring it here? Doing so I basically make use of this thread more and clutter the entire board less. This thread is meant for random discussions that don't directly pertain to melee. Which is basically anything that follows the Global rules.

Sure, the thread itself had no bad intentions but for convenience I moved it here so the board isn't as cluttered.

And if you're wondering why I didn't do it for the other threads, its because I caught it too late and it was about to die off.

when you have a thread, typically the discussion in that thread is based around the OP
you can't do that in this thread, it's got no topic of discussion, no set one at least

If we allow all sorts or random threads to be made sure, it could become a bigger problem.

And there were more than a few times someone sparked an actual discussion topic and people talked about for a few posts, moved on etc. When nothing comes up yea random stuff happens. I guess if that becomes an issue we could do something about that and possibly enforce some rule where you can't purposely try to derail the topic at hand or something.

This way, I can allow any random discussion to happen and be lax about it.

Well i think that particular thread was an example where i could see both sides of the issue, but i think polls or specific discussions should have their own thread. If anything, i think the thread should have been moved to a more suitable place such as the pool room or a general chat area (idk the SWF boards well enough).

I could accept that as a suitable idea.

However, I'm not particularly familiar with how the pool room works so the easier solution was to bring it here.

If that thread abides by the pool room's rules and such I'd have no problem opening it and moving it there.

Right now though, I lost mad time studying so if it does someone just like yell at Jungle or soemthing.

there's not and there hasn't been any serious problem of clutter in the melee boards, and there is no reason to try and alter what this thread is. it is what it has been since day one, a random discussion thread and it's worked just fine (i guess)

there's no reason to close perfectly innocent threads in the general melee discussion unless they are breaking some part of the tos like flaming, specific smashers, totally not melee-related, advertising, etc.

the guy wanted to know how everyone (melee players) came up with their smash names
as did i
as did everyone else who posted in/clicked on that thread
if you don't wanna know about them, then you didn't click the thread

not everyone checks this thread for interesting topics of discussion, presumably for of it's lack of them, it's much easier to come to the gen. melee section and check for new threads that have titles that might interest you than to come to this thread and sift through pages of nonsense for something that might spark your interest

Clutter could become a potential problem I'm not sure what else I can say about it. And to be fair about it, this board is meant to be about topics about melee as in the video game. So if the thread can't accomplish that or is something that is a tangent thing about it I'm closing it. Because this board is meant to talk about aspects of melee directly.

Wanna talk about how you randomly came up with your name? Theres a board or this thread for it. Did you get a inspiration to play fox cuz you saw a fox run around a squirrel and kill it for food? theres a board or this thread for it. Saw a bird fly into a wall and think of falco facepalm illusioning into FD? Well thats cool but again random and could be talked about in this thread or another board.

I'm not catering to your wants when there are plenty of other ways to go about it. If I allow that thread to be made, I have to allow EVERY thread of that nature to be made. Then really theres no point to the board, the entire board is a giant social. Not my intention.

So how did my brother and I get the tags TwinA and Twin1? Well that's an interesting story.

Late one evening the two of us were driving home from work. It was dark out and the lighting on this particular street was bad. He was driving and I was in shotgun trying to fall asleep. All of a sudden I see a family of tiny bunnies run out into the road and before David (my brother) could stop, he ran over them. In a panic we jumped out of the car to check on the poor creatures

Believe me there was blood everywhere. It was bad.

At least 6 babies had died along with however many older bunnies were there too. However I noticed one baby bunny that we had missed. Poor thing looked so scared, so I did the only reasonable thing. I walked up and snapped its neck. This poor thing would've starved to death, I did the right thing for sure. And in it's dying breath, the baby whimpered "Aaaaaaaaye".

I was confused as to what this meant, was it a sign to forever go by "A"? Then I stopped and looked at the carnage. the Blood on the road spelled out "Twin" in perfect cursive. At the exact same time, my brother realized that he was the "one" who ran them over. So we decided to call ourselves twinA and 1 in memory of those poor, defenseless, very much dead creatures.


That or one day I got tired of people asking "Who's one and who's two? Who's A and who's B?" so I told them "I'm A and he's 1". That was in middle school lol.
