This is coming from the same guy who is okay with $15 map packs.
15 dollars for 5 maps isn't that unreasonable. And 10 dollars for an online pass isn't that big of a deal either. I don't like EA that much, but I like Mass Effect, so I'm buying ME3 anyway. Missing out on a game just because of one policy you disagree with is kinda silly, IMO.

The Multiplayer coop from my understanding only supplements the story. So you won't be left out in the dark so to speak if you just run through the single player.

With that being said, I want to play "Arrival" for ME2, but I don't want to pay 7-8 bucks when I got the game and some DLC for it for only 20 :urg:

I was originally thinking of Red-Boxing ME3, but given I logged 60 hours in ME2, I don't think that will be a good idea unless I buy myself a bunch of energy drinks and disappear for a week.

Yes, but I was planning on rushing through ME2 in time for the ME3 demo.
Yeah....you can't rush through that game. My first playthrough was 58 hours, 2nd was 56 (with making sure I did as much 'good' as possible), and my 3rd one will probably wind up being 52 or 53.

Also F8AL why didn't you buy ME2? You miss out on so much DLC for borrowing it, even though you can get it first hand for dirt cheap now.

That is way too long. My first playthrough was 23 hours.

Oh well, guess I'll be playing the ME3 demo when I'm still playing ME3. Hope it doesn't spoil anything for me.

I have a 20 GB HDD for my 360, no room to install the DLC as I plan on installing the discs as I move throughout the game. :urg:

I have a 20Gb hardrive too. Plus you miss out on 2 characters:

[collapse= Zaeed]
[/collapse]

He's free if you buy it first hand. And:

[collapse= Kasumi]
[/collapse]

She's like 400MS points I think.

Wait, so if you bought ME2 new, you get 2 characters?

I'm assuming it's a code in the manual, right?

No you get the Cerberus Network code in the box, which enables you to download DLC, you get a few DLC for free including Zaeed.

It costs 1200MS points to buy the Cerberus network if you don't have it first hand.

No, if you buy it first hand it doesn't cost anything.

I got the game first hand for £14.99, and according to the US amazon you can get it for $19.96.

You said you wait for games to go down price and that seems pretty cheap if you ask me. You can get the game new and all the DLC for cheaper than if you got the game itself when it first came out.

I'll stick with playing my friend's used copy. Paying them to give me the option of buying DLC is crazy, no thanks.

I'll buy ME3 new tho since I want to play the online co-op with you guys.

And I didn't end up picking up ME2 today...I'll do it either this weekend or on Tuesday I guess.

Well technically you only have to pay them to give you the option of buying DLC because you're too cheap to pay $20 for a game that they spent their work on.

$20 isn't that much, but if you don't think the game is worth that then missing out of content is a good thing, I hope more companies cut content out of games for 2nd hand users.

I'm sorry but I reserve paying $60 for a few games, Mass Effect is not one of them.

You are what is wrong with this generation. Any game company which does **** like this deserves to go to jail.

You can buy 3 new copies of ME2 for $60.

I don't really see how you think that work shouldn't be rewarded, especially as $20 really isn't that much for all the effort and hours that has gone into this game. What you're doing is saying "I want everything for free because $20 is too much". ME2 fits onto 2 discs and has a ton of work and voice actors in it, what would you consider to be a reasonable price to pay for something like that?

It's just selfish greed to not pay for something but expect all the perks. EA are completely justified by removing things. If you don't agree with them then don't buy it, but don't go whining that you miss on parts of the story that everyone else gets. You're just cutting off your nose to spite your face.

I'm sure that people here don't want to read this so let's head our separate ways, shall we?

Are the starting classes in ME2 the same as they were in ME1? I picked Soldier...

Guys, we need to plan a day and time to all get online and play the co-op in the demo.

Me, Nate, Pluvia and you Sak. :)

And thanks for the reply, Sak!

What he said, they're all giving unique abilities and skills:

Soldier has adrenaline, it slows down time and makes his bullets stronger and removes recoil for a few seconds.

Engineer gets a combat drone he can unleash on the field.

Sentinel gets like a super shield or something.

Vanguard can phaze through walls and charge super fast into enemies from like any distance.

Infiltrator can turn invisible.

And Adept gets like Singularity or something I dunno.

F8AL I just wanted to duck in to say that you were misunderstanding Pluvia before. You don't pay the company for the opportunity to buy more DLC.

The idea is that every new copy of ME2 comes with The Cerberus Network, which gets you a bunch of free ingame ****, as well as the squaddie Zaeed Massani or however you spell it and his loyalty mission. You do not buy any of that. You get it by purchasing the game. It's a free add-on that is provided as an incentive to buy the game new instead of pre-owned or borrowing it. The game, brand new, costs 19.99 or less pretty much everywhere in North America. Not 60.

EDIT: Also, will you get to create a custom character in the coop? Kinda like single player, I'm picturing, except no backstory options for obvious reasons ,and you get to choose the race.

Are the races pre class seted? I'm going infiltrator but I don't want to use a Salarian.

I've always liked infiltrator in my ME play through, but I've never been a good sniper in games requiring to play against other human enemies. I'm better off being a soldier then.

Though I will say, nailing head shots in this game is so much easier compared to Uncharted or MGO.

Ah, well my apologies Pluvia.

Thanks for the clarification, EE. :)

Yeah, pretty much. Also, Sentinel has the shortest recharge time in the game, which pretty much means with the right Class upgrade (Guardian instead of Raider and Power Armor instead of the other one for max Tech Armor) you can pretty much recharge your shields by like 150% every 6 seconds.

As long as ME3 has the M-98 Widow (AKA The Widowmaker), I'm set with snipering.

I never rush things or skip dialogue bits. I like to try and get as much out of each playthrough as possible.
I suppose I did skip dialogue after I finished reading what they were saying instead of listening to them for the most part. And if there's a 30 hour difference or so from that, I'm glad I did.
