Someone should do a thread on which characters Mario should play "fast" against and on which characters we should play "slow" against.
just play at the speed that is most comfortable for you. Learn to play fast and slow, so that if you're speed isnt working out, you can change the match pace to whatever seems to be best. and if you're strat isn't working take your time, re-evaluate everything and then try again.

MK is not a broken character, but he does halt the metagame for a lot of the cast. Winners finals at concentrate was ADHD (Diddy) + Dabuz (Olimar) vs. Anti (Snake) + Salem (ZSS). That's four different characters instead of the usual quad MK.

@Orion - You haven't won a tourney in Europe with MK yet? I'm disappointed.

That might have something to do with MK being banned at Concentrate.

Kaos is the only one who ever managed to win an international tourney in Europe with MK.

Orion, why don't you try ICs on the next few occasions?

:059:
They aren't fun. Getting the grab and desyncing and stuff is fun, but you never get to do that **** vs people that know what to do on a regular basis. It's like the most boring/stressful **** ever, you just wait for 8 minutes until you get some broken *** read // desync gimmick lmao. **** up once and nana dies. Trip once and nana dies.

I've never actually enjoyed playing them in tournament (minus just trolling scrubs). So I don't see much point in losing my fun in enjoying the game, especially when it will require a LOT of practice to keep the techskill up. I can't just learn to CG marth, I have to be ready for snake as well since if I won that's what I'm getting CPed with. And you only have like 2 frames to grab him from Bthrow.

I'd honestly rather go DDD. My ddd does fine vs ramin most of the time actually, that one match vs Leon was like... a very bad representation of me playing him imo XD. I just kinda was like... well I haven't played DDD all day but lets try this **** LOOOL

Either way, I know where I need to improve with MK. I'm not going MK this upcoming weekend, I changed my controls recently and I'm still getting used to stuff, so I want to just have fun. But I think I can win next international if I practice hard

Good luck dude.

Man, practice. I really need to practice. I lost to this Diddy I have never heard of in pools last weekend Mario vs Diddy. He placed pretty okay iirc, but I didn't feel sharp and it cost me.

Practice is so key. Lmao.

Practicing constantly does more than just get you physically in the right shape. It also prepares you mentally, it just focuses everything. and when that happens... theres kind of a confidence in your movement and the way you play, that makes you much scarier to deal with.

I'm probably going mario in pools and falco in bracket at this tournament. Maybe DDD if I really need him vs someone. I'll try and get some replays uploaded ;)

I hope you come to apex. You're a very smart player and really fun to be around. I need to see one last 24 minute set of you vs. Deltacod XD

I would guess just hit them straight on. Floaty characters such as MK, Jiggs, Kirby, Samus, etc you will have to angle up while hitting them if you hit them in the air since they will rise from floating.

Depends on the character.

But yeah, I agree. It definitely would benefit Mario to have an aerial KO move. It'd hurt his gimping ability pretty severely though.

So you're saying Mario doesn't have good kill setups. Also it's brawl. Every character is defensive.
Well, to me, mario has a good kill setup....i can agree that mario doesn't have kill power, which sucks.
Like d-tilt > f-smash.....or d-throw > Up-smash or f-smash..

and yeah. brawl is a defensive game. :rotfl:
