I need convincing words for me to not drop Mario. I'm starting get pissed at his performance and how MK is so much easier for me to kill with. It's really starting to bother me and it makes MK all the more tempting to play.

I still stick with Lucas because of the motivation I got from Vermanibus. After talking with him IRL (at Pound) and looking to him for inspiration, it makes you realize that you gotta stick with your character. You've gotta take losses before you take names.

Yeah she does really well in this MU imo. I also have lots of experience in this MU, plus I played almost every Mario at Pound as well.

Something about this sentence gets to me. Reading this actually makes me want to prove myself. I think I was reaching my climax on whether I would be another Vato_break or not and this sentence makes me wanna stay Mario.

Get better at spacing man.

Powershielding B-airs helps too. It's not actually that hard to powershield Wolf's B-air. It's telegraphed by virtue of his physics. I'm pretty certain you can duck under his rising B-air for instance, and if he's spacing to hit you lower, it should be obvious enough to powershield.

And killing him...just save U-smash or D-smash, which ever you prefer. You'll get him eventually. Edgeguarding him with FLUDD, Fireballs, and N-air helps as well.

Vato goes MK because he can win money. If you go MK, and is unable to win the money, then might as well just not go MK at all. This is how I feel when I play as Mario, and its what thats keeping me as a Mario main.

I chose to not main him because all my friends (casual players, including me) kept telling me how he was unfair as hell.

Competitive pride aside, you shouldn't let friends discourage you from playing the character you wish.

@2fast: Before you continue with the offline competitive smash scene, you have to get your priorities in check. My advice: Ask yourself, "Why do I brawl"?

Pride versus Prize? Asked many people this question after Vermanubis presented it to me after PolyBrawl5 in NY.

Establish whether winning is more important than having fun for you. Personally, my focus is having fun above winning (because when a smasher focuses on winning, they automatically set expectations for themselves rather than enjoying the game they love to play). Several smashers favor winning above having fun while other smashers develop an idea that fun=winning. This explains the concept of rage, lol.

Out of curiosity, how do you gimp Wolf with Nair? That sounds like a sure way to get spiked, unless he's using upB, but if he is then the edgehog and/or cape is much easier.

Wow, that's really close to what happened to me. I didn't drop him because of people *****ing though (Although they did). I dropped him shortly after meeting competitive smashers for the 1st time because A) I was getting bored of using him by then, and B) I was both better and having more fun with Kirby.
This same process almost repeated with Mario, Ganon, and now Wolf.

That's actually a great way to look at it. That being said, pride can make you rage too. I am a great example of this.

Pick your spacing wisely. The priority in the middle of his SideB is pretty bad, and even if it by random chance does hit you, that part isn't so dangerous.

Ah, I see. That being said if he does a medium cancel you will get spiked. Not sure how many would, but yeah.

I really think you could pull it off. At least from watching a few videos of you, I feel that you definitely have something unique going on.

I'm not gonna get that status anytime soon given how much difficulty I have making it to tournaments at the moment. Maybe during the summer I might have a chance of showing off a bit.

2fast, I'm counting on you to do your best.

There's always room for extra refinement, but on a technical level you seem to be extremely promising. I personally wish for example that my Jab cancel game was as consistent as yours; you can't imagine how happy I am to see properly implemented hit confirms from another Mario user. I perceive that you have excellent reactions, which can only be more helpful when playing a character like Mario, who especially requires you to constantly be making good decisions on the move.
